Had to put my sweetest best boy kitty down on Monday, "thanks" to a botched surgery my vet recommended to keep him from getting urinary tract blacks again.
Butter turned 4on Sept. 23, and my late husband called him my "momma's boy puppy cat." Butter was a ginger and believed he was a dog. He loved me and was devoted to me. Followed me all over the house, his little happy orange paws always trotting right next to me. When I suddenly and inexplicably lost my husband last April, he dealt with me crying, yelling at God, and grieving horribly for the week after everything happened. He slept next to me every single night after. And now his big brother, my husband's big boy Biscuit, is confused and looking everywhere for his best buddy and little brother. The neighbors and friends had Trumpy fixed today. Finally got the cone on him.
I'm taking care of him. He knows how much I love him and I've taken care of him in the past. I had to let him out though. He's an outdoor cat and wanted out. In the last 2 days, I have bought for him and his sister Snowflake a beautiful cat tree, a scratching post, food puzzle board, two flapping electronic fish, round circle ball thing with scratching pad, catnip toy on a string, spray catnip and something to put in kitty litter so the want to go inside. One neighbor has a cat trap out and has driven 5 cats out of town. I can't blame him. That's a lot of cats and he's been patient for a year. I can't wait until these become indoor cats. Thanks for letting me vent... And the pills for Mom aren't helping much. We thought diverticulitis. Pain goes away when she's laying down. Prepare to be shocked:
LEFT PLANNING ELECTION NIGHT/INAUGURAL VIOLENCE: Demonstration permits examined by former New Left radical trainer Richard Pollock show multiple far-Left and Pro-Palestinian groups moving ahead with plans to take to the streets of the nation’s capital to protest a Trump election victory and inaugural. “The applicants claim about 15,000 protesters could descend on Washington, D.C. on election night and up to 200,000 anti-Trump protests could arrive leading up to and including Inauguration Day, when the next President is sworn in,” Pollock reports. One of the organizers, a veteran of the 2017 inaugural disruptions, told a Leftist outlet that for the 2024 events “we want to undermine Trump’s presidency from the get-go. There has been a lot of talk of peaceful transition of power as being a core element in a democracy and we want to reject that entirely and really undermine the peaceful transition.” (Insty) Posted by: Archimedes at October 31, 2024 08:01 PM (xCA6C) 73

Ivehad a lot of cats and dogs simultaneously all my life practically. When one passes it’s doubly sad since you feel the others’ sadness as well.
A few years ago we had 2 dogs and got a puppy. About 3-4 weeks later the oldest dog was diagnosed with cancer, and quite advanced. So we put him down. The puppy had become really close with the big guy and when he went bye bye, the puppy was crushed. All that happy puppy energy went away for a couple of days. It was the saddest thing, a puppy moping around. Condolences Jane D’Oh Posted by: Settled Science - Deplorable Garbage at October 31, 2024 08:03 PM (KF2Wj) 84

Butter would sit up and beg, play fetch, whimper like a puppy when he was bored, and growl deeply when he heard a car coming up the driveway, and then accompany me to the door to see who the intruder was and if I was safe.
He was a little guy, and so sweet and fearless. What I allowed him to be put through I can never forgive myself for. Through everything, he looked at me with pure love and adoration. I should never have listened to the vet I have known for over 20 years. I pray God allows these precious souls into Heaven, and that my darling husband was there to hug him. There has been a lot of talk of peaceful transition of power as being a core element in a democracy and we want to reject that entirely and really undermine the peaceful transition.” (Insty) Posted by: Archimedes at October 31, 2024 08:01 PM (xCA6C) couple of A-10's would take care of that mob. Jane, I had to put down both of my cats in a two year period. The first one had a stroke and just couldn't recover. He was 14 at the time. Two years later I had to put down his brother when his kidneys shut down and he refused to eat anymore.
I prayed and prayed I wouldn't have to put either of them down and instead, God had me end both their lives. I was angry and incredibly heartbroken. They were my boys. But after I realized we get chosen to play this role. We only get them for a short time on this earth and it's an honor to help them pass on to the other side in a loving, final moment. It ripped my heart in two, twice but I refused to let them go alone. So they saw my last. And that gives me comfort. Posted by: AlaBAMA at October 31, 2024 08:32 PM (q7hip) 214

There has been a lot of talk of peaceful transition of power as being a core element in a democracy and we want to reject that entirely and really undermine the peaceful transition.” Sooner or later this crap will need to be stopped by those who have had enough. I had an old neutered tom, who ruled the house with an iron paw. Whenever I sat in my recliner, he would immediately claim my lap and sleep. He allowed the other cats to distribute themselves elsewhere across my body, but my lap belonged to him. After a few years, he passed, but the remaining cats would refuse to sleep on my lap. Jane, I'm so sorry about your sweet fur baby.
I just found out that a friend's 21 year old cat is finally using up her last life, and will pass soon. They have been buds forever and she's heartbroken. This is the friend that when I was out visiting her, my own sweet cat passed. I was on a public bus at the time, and just broke down and cried. I could not have handled it without this friend; she put together a memorial service that eve to remember her, very sweet. Trying to figure out how to do right by her now our positions are reversed. I saw on Etsy that people will make jewelry with etchings of your pet's picture on it. I might do that. Posted by: LizLem at October 31, 2024 09:01 PM (QAK8m) 300

There is an feral orange tabby, we named Butterscotch, that we have been feeding for the past year or so. She's pregnant now, so we've sort of converted the bottom of one of those big wooden swing sets with a slide and tower into a house. We laid down cardboard, covered it with straw then a comfort and finally some fleece. I also covered the windows on the west and south with cardboard.
She seems to like it. It is still too exposed though, so we have a heated cat house on order that we will install on top of the existing padding. Posted by: Beartooth at October 31, 2024 09:48 PM (WuJwx) 358

I'd keep Trumpy in the house while he has the cone. He's not at his best to outrun a predator with it on and it hampers his peripheral vision. Lucy was feral when we got her from the pound. But the fact is, we didnt see this a mile away. We certainly didnt see it less than two weeks away, which is what would have been necessary for a blanket pardon between January 6 and January 20. And it would have had to have been a big blanket. Its not like there were signups for people attending his rally. Presidents have pardoned named individuals for unspecified crimes (President Ford, pardoning Richard Nixon). Presidents have pardoned specific groups for specified crimes (President Carter, pardoning people who avoided the draft by moving to Canada). But how do you pardon unspecified groups for unspecified crimes? This sounds like a very dangerous trap (Quoting myself; see nic.) Oh Jane, I am so very sorry, about everything. I have an orange boy who adores me. His name is Tater, and he had brothers named Butter(bean) and Biscuit, who are waiting with your boys now, over the Rainbow Bridge. And I didn't know you had lost your husband. I don't have the words to console you, but you can count on my prayers. Always. Posted by: Tammy-al Thor at October 31, 2024 10:04 PM (Vvh2V) 373

>>>But the fact is, we didn’t see this a mile away.
I did. >>>But how do you pardon unspecified groups for unspecified crimes? This sounds like a very dangerous trap… That’s just excuse-making. Issue the pardon, let the courts fight over it. Even if it gets shot down, at least you *tried*. What would Obama have done for his people? Why do we expect less of our side? “We have to play by the rules because we’re Republicans.” Naw. >>>”Yes, it looks obvious now that the Democrats were planning on third-world dictator-style show trials. But it certainly didn’t occur to me that that’s where this was headed until well after January 20, and it didn’t seem to occur to anyone else, even the people saying stuff like this, that I can see.” I said after the 2012 election that Soviet show trials were coming to America within a decade. People like you said I was overreacting and that the Constitution would protect us. Get outta here with this “nobody could have known” business. Post the link. I’m honestly interested.
Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at October 31, 2024 10:19 PM (EXyHK) I don’t have a blog. I made used to comment here, at Instapundit and on 4chan from 2009-2015 or so. In 2014 I fell down a rabbit hole about U.S. biolabs in Ukraine and Georgia (the country) and gain-of-function research on coronaviruses. During the “obola “ pandemic that year I read up a lot on pandemic planning. I told people the Constitution was going to be overturned by emergency medical directives during an bio-engineered pandemic. Again, people with major normalcy bias said I was a conspiracy theorist. Oh well. I keep a low profile online these days. I used to work in AI. Soon they’ll be able to associate most of what you’ve written-even anonymously-back to your real identity. That’s the whole goal of this “disinformation” push. It’s not merely censorship, it’s using machine learning to deanonymize past activities online.
