THE MORNING RANT: Mitch McConnell is Actively Trying to Defeat Conservative Republicans in Senate Races this Election

The long political career of Mitch McConnell (R – KY) is winding down in the same manner as previous RINO Senators such as John McCain, Mitt Romney, Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, etc – with betrayal, vendettas, and a repudiation of the conservative base. McConnell, the current Senate Republican Leader is actively trying to defeat incumbent Senate conservatives who are running for re-election, and he is making it clear that his role in his final two years in Congress will be to align with Democrats to thwart President Trump should Trump be elected to a second term.

Although McConnell still has two more years left in the Senate, he will step down as Senate Republican Leader following the 2024 election. A new Senate leader will be chosen once the new Congress is sworn-in following the election.

But as a final insult to conservatives before McConnell steps down, he has effectively allied with Chuck Schumer (D – NY) in trying to help Democrats win Senate races against conservative Republicans by how he (McConnell) allocates the millions of dollars in his Super-PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund.

Ted Cruz (R – TX) is running for re-election in a too-tight race against far-left Democrat Colin Allred. Mitch McConnell is working to defeat Cruz and elect Allred.

“Cruz calls out McConnell-aligned group for not spending ‘a penny’ in Texas” [The Hill – 10/14/2024]

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) vented his frustration with the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC aligned with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, for not spending any money in his competitive reelection race, accusing McConnell of using the group to “punish” his critics in the Senate GOP conference.

“Mitch McConnell runs the largest Republican super PAC in the country and has $400 million but that super PAC is used to reward the Republican senators who obey him and to punish those who dare to stand up him,” Cruz told conservative talk show host Mark Levin during a recent interview.

McConnell has allocated exactly $0 to help Cruz get re-elected.

Asked if McConnell or the PAC had put any money into his increasingly close race against Democratic Rep. Colin Allred (Texas), Cruz replied: “Not a penny.”

“This time around he has $400 million. I’m being massively outspent again. [Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer] is spending millions. And yet he spent zero,” he added, referring to McConnell.

Protecting Cruz’s seat is critical for Republicans to gain the Senate majority. Suffice it to say that Senate Minority Leader McConnell is most content when Republicans are in the minority and he can work with Democrats to thwart Trump and advance Democrat agenda items.

It’s not just Cruz who is being denied funding, it’s also conservatives such as Rick Scott in Florida, Kari Lake in Arizona, and Sam Brown in Nevada. If the Republicans were to win all those Senate races, the GOP would have a strong Senate majority to support President Trump. But Mitch McConnell is working to elect Democrats in all those states by denying funding to the Republican candidates.

In this interview with Glenn Beck, you can hear Ted Cruz discuss how Mitch McConnell is actively seeking to thwart the re-election of conservative Republican Senators, and to punish them for actually representing their constituents rather than being loyal to McConnell in pushing a liberal agenda.

But what about Merrick Garland and Neil Gorsuch…

Back in 2016, after Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s untimely death, President Obama nominated anti-constitutionalist Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. McConnell, the then-Senate Majority Leader, had an obligation to Republican voters who gave the Senate a Republican majority to deny confirmation to the radical nominee. Rather than have hearings and rallying the Republican Senate majority to vote against Garland’s confirmation, McConnell simply ran out the clock by never holding a vote, serving the same purpose. Once Trump was elected, Neil Gorsuch was nominated and confirmed.

Good job, Senator McConnell. You actually did your job…at least one time. But that is actually the least we should expect. How much of a battered-wife syndrome do we conservatives have that for eight years we’ve been offering slobbering praise to McConnell for not betraying us at that moment? We conservatives so thoroughly expect to be betrayed by the GOP establishment that if there is just one time when we are not betrayed, we reward the politician with a lifetime of future betrayals.

But for now, McConnell is focused on working with Democrats to stop Trump’s agenda.

“McConnell says ‘MAGA movement is completely wrong’ and Reagan ‘wouldn’t recognize’ Trump’s GOP” [CNN – 10/23/2024]

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered a scathing assessment of the modern Republican Party in an upcoming biography, saying the “MAGA movement is completely wrong” and that Ronald Reagan “wouldn’t recognize” the party today.

With Mitch McConnell promising that he’ll be ”arguing more with [MAGA Republicans] probably than the Democrats”, Ace offered this succinct observation.

So who is Mitch McConnell allocating his Super-PAC’s money to? It’s going to liberal “Republicans” such as Larry Hogan of Maryland, who as Governor made anti-Trumpism a primary focus of his administration, and who is promising if elected to work with Democrats to stop the Trump agenda.

“With Senate control at stake, top Republicans give millions to Hogan’s bid” [Capital News Service – 10/17/2024]

A McConnell-linked super PAC, Senate Leadership Fund [a super PAC supporting Larry Hogan], gave $2 million to Maryland’s Future in July.

After this election, the Republicans will pick a new Senate Republican Leader. Senator Mike Lee of Utah is already discussing McConnell’s despicable betrayal of us and preparing the battleground now to prevent any more kapos like Mitch McConnell from having the power to undermine our agenda. Senator Lee wrote the following in a thread on Twitter.

1) McConnell’s attacks on Donald Trump & Rick Scott are indefensible. Those running for Senate GOP leadership posts need to weigh in on this & commit never to sabotage Republican candidates & colleagues—particularly those who are less than two weeks away from a close election.

2) We must have clarity from the candidates running to replace McConnell on where they stand on these attacks. They must be clear on how they plan to lead the conference, and on the role of its members.

3) The Senate Republican leader is supposed to help Republicans, not undermine them. Sadly, we’ve had too much of the latter. That must end now.

4) Remember: McConnell’s Super PAC has withheld campaign support from Ted Cruz and Rick Scott this election season, an incomprehensible move for a Senate GOP “strong leader” who wants to keep Texas and Florida and gain a majority in the Senate.

With Mitch McConnell now fully allied with Chuck Schumer and promising to work with Democrats to advance an anti-Trump agenda, a slim Republican majority in the Senate is not enough. Don’t be surprised if McConnell serves out his final two years as an Independent rather than a Republican and caucuses with the Democrats if that will help the Democrats maintain control of the Senate.

Then with the arrival of the Wu-Flu, he became "Lockdown Larry" and his anti-Trumpism took on new levels. He made a big deal about how he couldn't bring himself to vote for Trump in 2020, so he wrote in Ronald Reagan. There is no way he'd be anything other than a Great Value version of McCain or Romney in the Senate. He won't get my vote. Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares on Monday took the commonwealth’s noncitizen-voter case to the Supreme Court, after a lower court blocked officials from purging their voter rolls of noncitizen aliens. A federal appeals court on Sunday backed a lower court’s Friday ruling that ordered Virginia to restore some 1,600 suspected noncitizens who are ineligible to vote to the state’s voter rolls. Miyares and Governor Glenn Youngkin responded with a pledge to take the case to the Supreme Court with just nine days left before the election. They followed through on Monday.

133 Anytime anybody brings up Bitch McConnell keeping the Supreme Court seat, I have the same response.

HE NEVER EXPECTED TRUMP TO WIN.

McConnell thought he was going to increase his majority, and thought he was keeping the seat open so he could negotiate an appropriate payoff from President Clinton before letting whatever far leftist she cared to nominate sail through.

During the entire process he said not ONE NEGATIVE WORD about Garland himself, and literally couldn't wait to confirm him as AG the second Trump was gone.

And never, EVER forget the TANTRUM that McConnell threw on the Senate floor when he realized he didn't have the votes to convict him after Jan 6th.

Abolishing the filibuster? Monday, May 20, 2019

In part, "Last month, Massachusetts Senator and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren declared support for ending the Senate filibuster. Other political figures, from fellow Democrats to President Trump, have also expressed support for eliminating the filibuster. What is the filibuster, why do people want it changed, and would be the ramifications if were ended?" (Much more follows.)

The vast majority of Senators have a single, common, overriding priority... the enrichment of Senators. The ones on the left accomplish that by doing the bidding of the tech oligarchs, the globalists, and the pedo cabal. The ones on the right accomplish that via strategic sabotage of the people they officially represent.

Last night at the glorious Madison Square Garden gala the cringe reached eleventy when Trump kept heaping praise on Speaker Johnson( Paul Ryan with a Southern accent). Sure Trump has to play the political game to get his agenda going. But sooner than later Trump needs to single out a handful of Senate and House RINOs for tough Trump treatment. Maybe it's tilting at windmills to hope Trump will target RINOs. but Johnson is useless, horrible , pathetic, weak and corrupt. Trump diminishes himself , his brand and MAGA when he slobbers over Johnson and other Johnson type RINOs.

242 Dafuq? Really?

How is this considered something new? He's been financially starving any conservative primary winner for so long I can't remember when it was any different.

And ten years ago, McConnell dumped millions into the drooling dotard Cochran's primary against Chris McDaniel, and went so far as to bring the repulsive Haley Barbour out of retirement to organize the GOTV effort.

They understood they had no chance of beating McDaniel with GOP voters, so they canvassed black neighborhoods to get Democrats to change their registrations to GOP. By telling them that Chris McDaniel would (somehow) overturn the Voting Rights Act and disenfranchise the entire black race.

From Reagan's RNC acceptance speech in 1980, "For those who've abandoned hope, we'll restore hope and we'll welcome them into a great national crusade to make America great again.", a phrase he'd campaigned with throughout the year.

327 Trump going to NM this late is really interesting.

I hope Trump's pollster(s) knows what they're doing, because they're acting as if they see something none of the other pollsters see.

Based on new publicly-available polling (as opposed to internals) out of bellwether Dane County, WI, I think Harris should be considered the favorite in WI.

328 So, Harris’ last real even will be at the national mall and will be all about J6 and TrumpHitler. Thats it? That is all she has?

Who? I don't know.

They go after Trump because they misunderstand the movement. They are, however, correct that he's the most effective current spokesman. They destroyed the Tea Party and that bought them time. They're hoping that destroying Trump will buy they the same amount of time but technology has sped everything up.

Would they be successful? I don't know. But Trump, much as I support him, is neither prophet nor messiah.

"McConnell had no reason to believe, absolutely none, that Trump would have a chance of winning. My guess is Hillary and the Turtle had a deal."

So many deals we don't know about. I think the elites are learning there is more power, once they've amassed enough of it, being in the shadows vs out front on the firing line. Obama as shadow pres, Pelosi as shadow leader of the house (no way she can oust Biden, as is rumored, if she isn't still running things.) McConnell will try to be a shadow leader of the senate. It all depends who gets in as new leader.

350 Sam Brown has run a terrible campaign and might still win because Republicans are turning out in Nevada. Early on, he kneeled to McConnell to get money. They didn't put any money in the state, because the race wasn't close. Rosen defined Brown in August. Now, money is coming in and you know who will take credit if he wins, but the reality is it is Republican turnout. Not McConnell.

Has there ever been a presidential candidate that was morally pure? Maybe Christians should just sit out all elections. Unless maybe, just maybe, we aren't voting for a spiritual leader but rather a political leader for our country. The requirements are somewhat different.

Luckily, we have a lot of talent who get it, which we didn’t have in the past. We have Vance, we have DeSantis, we have Vivek. We have Winsome Earle-Sears, we have Ric Grenell. We have Byron Donalds.

Look at that slate and compare it to the Dems. We have true diversity and it just happened because we elevated talent without regard to the package it came in. It’s kind of exciting if we haven’t already lost to the deep state, and I am hopeful maybe we haven’t.

370 16 What the hell is wrong with Tennessee that they keep reelecting this asshole?

It’s damned hard to get someone out of the Senate, once they’re in. It gets even harder when they’re entrenched. While I won’t vote for Cornyn (dirtbag -Texas), having to get a democrat out of that seat is the only reason I won’t vote against him.

I remember when Indiana got rid of Richard Lugar in a primary race, and Cornyn then had his primary so packed with people that no one could get any traction against him.
