Woman accused of fatally shooting man in groin after he 'jokingly requested she shoot him'
What gave it away that there were too many police officers? No donuts available for civilians?
A tipster warned of a ‘dysfunctional’ hire at a local police department. That was an understatement.
KHOU 11 found that a 250-person Texas city had 50 police officers. More than half had checkered pasts.
A corpse fell out of a hearse in traffic while en route to its destination on Friday, upsetting drivers and the family of the dead. The funeral home, in Stalowa Wola, Poland, issued an apology. A technical problem with the hearse was blamed. Here's the statement, as posted to Facebook:

NASA's SLS/Artemis/Orion Moon program is a fucking joke. I was just reading the latest problems.
1) Orion capsule has heat shield problems. They discovered a bunch of cracks after the Artemis I mission. This has not been resolved.
2) Mobile launch platform is a mess. They had three of these things, crawlers and the platform itself. They went through several iterations from the Saturn V through the STS. Anyway, there's big problems with one now, massive cost overruns and delays. This has not been resolved.

On my farm (Kansas) they just build big stick piles in our windbreak tree rows. They like to eat the hedge apples (unrelated to real apples), and disappear real quick when they see me moving.

The current Artemis plan depends on Elon and Starship anyway. The actual lunar lander is going to be a modified Starship, dubbed Starship HLS.
It will be launched separately, dock with something called the Lunar Gateway (mini space station in lunar HALO orbit), and the astronauts will transfer to it from Orion, and then descend to the Moon.
When you look at that mess, you see Starship could just carry them all there to begin with, no need for the SLS/Orion/Gateway. It's just stupid.

What with the Houston area having sheriffs, constables, police officers, warranters, and what not one of the writers for the Houston Chronicle took on a project to find out how many outfits in the area have arrest authority. Over the course of the next several months he would provide updates to his story. In college, the girls from my dorm used to take popsicles and stand them up between the bricks in the pathway and the cute squirrels would stand on their hind legs and eat the popsicles.
A photographer from the school paper came to get an awesome "signs of spring time" photo.
The girls placed the popsicles and everyone stepped back to wait. 30 seconds later, a giant sewer rat ran out from under the building, grabbed a popsicle, and then ran back to cover.
To my great disappointment, the photographer did not run THAT picture!

I reassure the girls' everything is alright. I'm feeling crappy because I killed something. But that feeling doesn't last long as something darts across the road and there's ANOTHER THUD!
Everyone is safe. Which is my job. But I feel bad because my car of death just killed 2 animals in about 15 minutes. And I've only had a bird fly into my car once.
But two animals! Whatever they were. I couldn't believe it. But those thoughts are interrupted as a third something shows up in the road. Seven people in the car. There was no decision to be made.
A third thud! Three animals in less than an hour. I did feel bad. But I got my friend's home safe....job number one.

One of my favorite WWII mysteries is The Amber Room. Did the Soviets actually make a copy and the Germans captured and took that one and the Russians have been lying the whole time since? Or did the Germans grab it and it got lost in the turbulent end to the war, like a few other items? From what I've read, that room was spectacular.
Some story of a German gold train, maybe sunk in lake? Remember something about that, too. Who knows? The Nazis were devious fucks.

There are also problems with the launch abort and escape system on Orion, I was just reading.
Boeing is the main contractor for the SLS rocket itself. Although others are big in it as well.
They've spent $32B in 2024 on the thing so far. That is just the SLS rocket, doesn't include Orion and the rest.

They used a clever sublimator heat exchanger on the Apollo moon units. It was self regulating. It used the sublimation of water vapor to shed heat. Little heat input and the thing would freeze over and not lose much water. As heat input increased, the sublimation rate would increase to match.

It's like how they state the cost of each F-22.
The actual build cost ( if they had not destroyed the tooling) is far lower than the 350 million a plane price they quote. That price includes all the pre build costs incurred.

I totally disagree.
Hillary, while evil, is competent. Together with Blow Job Billy, she's stolen untold millions, more than the mafia aircraft heists at JFK, that's for sure (and some movies were made about those).
If in hell and I had to choose between Hillary! or Kommiela for president, no question it's Hillary!. She'll kill enemies, and not with joy.

It's Persia and the Achaemenid Empire, but as far as I know they haven't found any historical evidence for this yet I just find it ludicrous to compare a Presidential candidate who isn't on the side of the Jewish people to Queen Esther who helped save her people ,and I think the clergy person who came up with this made an egregiously bad mistake in order to get people to vote for Harris. It's fine to pray for Harris but don't compare her to that Biblical heroine.

Problem that I hadn't thought about. A material good at reflecting direct sunlight doesn't reflect infrared. When lunar surface gets warmed up good, it's reradiating a lot of infrared....
