As Trump Moves To Take the Lead, the Corrupt FBI Crime Stats Stealthily Changes a Fake "Reduction in Violent Crime" Stat That They Gave Biden to Campaign on Two Years Ago

They claimed that violent crime had fallen 2.1% as a favor to El Jefe Biden.

Now that it looks like Trump might win the White House and hold government-weaponizers to account, the FBI quietly changes the stat from a reduction of 2.1% in the rate of violent crime to a big increase of 4.5%.

When the FBI originally released the "final" crime data for 2022 in September 2023, it reported that the nation's violent crime rate fell by 2.1%. This quickly became, and remains, a Democratic Party talking point to counter Donald Trump's claims of soaring crime.
But the FBI has quietly revised those numbers, releasing new data that shows violent crime increased in 2022 by 4.5%. The new data includes thousands more murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.
The Bureau -- which has been at the center of partisan storms -- made no mention of these revisions in its September 2024 press release.
RCI discovered the change through a cryptic reference on the FBI website that states: "The 2022 violent crime rate has been updated for inclusion in CIUS, 2023." But there is no mention that the numbers increased. One only sees the change by downloading the FBI's new crime data and comparing it to the file released last year.
After the FBI released its new crime data in September, a USA Today headline read: "Violent crime dropped for third straight year in 2023, including murder and rape."
It's been over three weeks since the FBI released the revised data. The Bureau's lack of acknowledgment or explanation about the significant change concerns researchers.
"I have checked the data on total violent crime from 2004 to 2022," Carl Moody, a professor at the College of William & Mary who specializes in studying crime, told RealClearInvestigations. "There were no revisions from 2004 to 2015, and from 2016 to 2020, there were small changes of less than one percentage point. The huge changes in 2021 and 2022, especially without an explanation, make it difficult to trust the FBI data."
"It is up to the FBI to explain what they have done, and they haven't explained these large changes," Dr. Thomas Marvell, the president of Justec Research, a criminal justice statistical research organization, told RCI.
The FBI did not respond to RCI's repeated requests for comment.

Just like they did with the "earmarks of Russian disinformation" lie about Hunter's laptop, they cooked up this fake story so that Biden could deploy it at debates:

FBI only compiles statistics reported to them by state, county, and municipal police departments.

A lot of the big cities do not report a lot of crimes (some do not report anything at all at times) or downgrade the ones that they do report. For example, a rape, attempted murder, etc are reported as a simple assault.

Murder rates are about the only stat not very amenable to downgrading. A few departments use the Brit trick of categorizing any death that cannot be proved to be suspicious as accidental, undetermined cause of death, or suicide.

Reduces the murder rate and is convenient when bodies are too deteriorated to determine cause of death without a lot of expensive forensics.

That is how the street people population just has people that 'vanish' until remains are found years later.

To the point where I remember it was essentially impossible, you would have to have something like 5% GDP growth to get that number. A few weeks after the election, the NY Post had an article where someone in the BLS department admitted they massaged the numbers. Of course no one really seemed to care.

This is a massive survey of individuals in the US to get at crime that is never reported to the police as well as that which has.

Highlights.
In 2023, there were 22.5 violent victimizations per 1,000 persons age 12 or older in the United States, which was similar to the 2022 rate. Aggregate estimated violent criminal acts in the US are around 6.4 million incidents. Aggregate estimated property crimes is about 13.6 million criminal acts. 2022-2023 crime rates on both are higher than in 2019.

Both are higher than 2019 in rate as well as actual numbers which are substantially higher (2020-1 due to covid shutdowns are aberrant).

Reporting of violent crimes by victims to the cops (excluding murder) is about 41-44 percent. reported. Only about 30-31 percent of property crime is reported to the cops.

So, aside from murder, a true crime rate of FBI compiled data is over double for violent crime and over triple the reported rates for property crimes.

A lot of the Brit shows are designed around cozy type upper crust murders for sex, revenge, finances, etc. Midsommer is an example.

Long running show, "The Bill" was a bit dramatized but more reflective of urban police work at the time. Lots of assaults, stabbings, drug sales, etc.

But, Barney Miller or even Andy Griffin is reflective of a lot of places yet (if they don't try to fill the countryside with murderous illegals). Most counties reported no murders in the US and places like SD, ND, etc. have comparable murder and violent crime rates to Euroland's safer nations.

The fact is that a lot of violent crime revolves around prior criminals doing bad things to other criminals. Most crimes are rarely the normal person 'snaps' that Hollywood loves. They are depressing life long criminals doing horrendous things to people around them and other criminals for loot, street cred, and revenge.

We're 3 weeks from election day and all of the polls are trending toward Trump. Personally, I think it's a lot of Democrat polls doing what they always do and start posting real number as we get close to the election so they can claim some credibility when the actual results come in.

Despite what Harris says both candidates are well know entities by now and their positions are locked in. I can't imagine an October Surprise significant enough to get that many people to change course now. There come a point where cheating isn't viable and are pretty damn close if not already there.

National Crime Victimization Survey 2023 figures are out. Basically a massive survey of individuals as in hundred thousand or so across the nation as to crimes (whether reported or not). Violent crime in 2022 and 2023 are both higher than in 2019 (last normal year). (Covid shutdowns dropped crime significantly in 2020-21).

That survey is direct and does not get its data from police agency reporting. If you take their victim reporting crimes to cops as correct---the violent crime rate are about 2.5 times greater than what police report. (Only about 40 percent report violent crimes to police on average) Property crimes are about 3 or so times greater than what police report (about 30 percent report property crimes or so).

Only old people watch tv as such and read newspapers for the most part. News magazines are about dead and even Ms. Steve Jobs is getting tired of propping up the Atlantic which is bleeding money. NYT resumed its death march downward in readership after Trump was ousted and WaPo is becoming less important to Bezos than containing losses.

Online via the internet is where most people get their information and that is siloed by personal preferences.

There is no 'national media' anymore for people younger than mebbe 40-45.

Not surprised, that is very typical of people under 40-45.

I quit watching Fox on cable in 2008 and let all my dead tree media subscriptions die before teh Obammy years were over. Basically, what I read online indicated that the media was full of shit and that most of their 'pundits' were sad ignorant clowns.

Any person with a brain should go through Gell Mann amnesia once before realizing all the media (including Conservative Media TM) work for others, not for the consumers of media. They are the product being sold.

If I am able, I always prefer to read original sources nowadays and that includes historical accounts as well. A lot of books published post 1990 or so are bowdlerized by publishers to match the national narrative and the delicate sensibilities of the Millennials and younger staffing those places.
