In Bizarre Attempt at Viral Vote-Getting Stunt, Governess Gretchen Whitmer Feeds Doritos to an Influencer on Her Knees In Offensive Mockery of the Giving of the Holy Eucharist

I don't know what on earth this is supposed to mean.

These people will do literally anything a woke "young person" tells them to do.

Collin Rugg
@CollinRugg

NEW: Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer feeds a chip to a begging liberal podcaster on her knees in an effort to get more votes for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Whitmer joined Canadian feminist Liz Plank for an abortion podcast episode.

The pair released the following video as a bizarre way to get more votes for Harris.

At one point during the podcast, Plank asked Whitmer if she ever thinks about getting a "post-birth abortion" on her two daughters.

The pair also talked about "masculinity" and why men aren't supporting Democrats.

Bulgaroctonus reminds that this is the crew who have been calling us "weird" for two months.

Some will claim this video of Kamala on the old, busted, horribly unfunny Howard Stern show is a fake. Reject their lies.

If Republicans and that dweeb Johnson had a set of balls they would come out forcefully and make the simple argument I made. Have everyone lay their facts on the table, and call their bluff. But instead the Republican caitiffs hide and allow Democrats to keep marching forward with their anti human campaign. To the point that Democrats have a well funded campaign in every state to undermine their citizens will and gain a de facto national abortion policy by changing state constitutions, laws and health codes to ensure things like partial birth abortions and abortions up to nine months. It’s a grotesque abandonment.

We (and by "we" I mean our execrable GOP representatives) abandoned these tenets long ago. Almost no one believe in or supports limited government in any way anymore. It's all about the bottom-line result, achieved by whatever means possible. Exhibit A: Our levianthanlike federal government.

TL;DR version: If your counterargument is one of process, like "this is a state issue," you've already lost the argument in contemporary American politics.

Howard giving her the opportunity to say what she really thinks of Trump! He's teeing them up, and ahe's hitting them out of the park. Now getting into the narcissist. Talking about how he sent Putin Covid tests in secret. Loves dictators. Wants to be one.

Wrapping up now talking about U2, Nascar etc. Talking more about music after a very effective, informative hour. Great interview!

Howard Stern actually is a fantastic interviewer. She is such a good person, and it should be so obvious to anyone with working brain and heart that she is 1000000X more qualified to be our Commander in Chief.

Dobbs is a one-off. It will be confined to abortion alone for the most part. It could logically doom same-sex decisions too, but it won't. The Supreme Court is not going to lead a cultural counterrevolution, and it would destroy the Court to even try halfheartedly. Nor is the Court going to abolish the administrative state. What Chevron will mean is increased, but still limited, judicial supervision of the administrative state. On net, conservatives will not find themselves much happier with federal judges acting as administrators, except in a handful of instances that make their way to the Supreme Court.

256 It's interesting that the people that "Jesus was just a non-judgemental hippy" are eager to mock the Eucharist. Catholics (at least the ones that have had a solid faith-formation) understand that, after the priest consecrates the host, it is transubstantiated into the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop
---
The bread of Communion has a sacred place for people who don't believe in transmutation as well.

It is a sacred symbol no matter how it is dispensed and to know that the symbol of the remembrance of Jesus' body broken for us is used in mockery is not without offense.
Posted by: Axeman

Transubstantiation. The Catholic belief is that while the physical appearance of Bread and Wine does not actually change in the Body and blood of Christ, that the underlying principle of the sacrament is that the bread and wind DO become the body and blood of Christ in an almost mystical way that cannot be explained by mere physical analysis. This is why Eucharist is such a BIG DEAL in the Catholic Church. To physically partake of the body and blood of Christ is to be more closely bound to the Son and the Father, and to renew yourself spiritually.

If by "shrink" you mean, "cut theirs, not mine," you may be looking at a third. If by "shrink" you mean "cut everything, even mine," you're looking at maybe 2-3%.

The only popular cuts are trimming around the edges of federal power. Actually cutting federal power isn't very popular. Most conservatives want to use federal power their own way. It's why big government candidates keep winning the Republican nomination for president including, yes, Trump.

They have started the dismantling of Affirmative Action - and have done it in college enrollments. Businesses are beginning to act like it is gone for everything. All they need to do is dismantle the quota's in government contracting and it is done. The justices - Alito and Thomas were completely pissed at Roberts over the ACA. If it had been brought today it would have gotten whacked.

326 Nothing is forever including governmental centralization. The law will yield when it can no longer prop up the reality. That is why the crooked path of common law in England for about a thousand years has plenty of rises and falls in it.

We are essentially an empire now and not really bound to each other much like the late Soviet Union was, and Canada, Australia, Russia, India, , even China to some extent, are today. Geographic size and large populations soon make governance a mess, it gets worse due to information imbalances as you scale up on a lot of issues.

Federalization is about the only way that disparate people can live together peaceably for long. Statists find that odious and contrary to their plans because they believe it limits their powers. It does, but that also saves those same assholes lives along with the rest of society when things go topsy turvy as they always do.

NC backwoods right now is a perfect example.

Not quite. With the exception of a 4-4 stalemate in a government contracting case from the 90s, I believe, the only area race-related preferences have been upheld is academia and only based on the rationale that diversity is a legitimate educational goal; otherwise, it has lost in every other context, and other rationales have been disapproved (like remediation of past discrimination, for example).

Yet, do you feel like race preferences and race-based policies have gotten better or worse in the past few decades? The clear answer is worse.

There is the left, and the non-left.

The left is still in some variation of Marxism, but the non-left resists the Marxian revolution.

However, these days, for some reason the libertarians are fine with the import-the-World suicide pack...cause ... FREEDOM!

So they are part-time dups of how the left plans on destabilizing the entire system.

Surmounting an actual, solid, formidable resistance takes too much out of libertarians.

Posted by: Axeman
========
Different view of humanity. Most libertarians are not historians or very poor ones. Rothbard was an exception but a lot of what passes for history in libertarian circles has little or no application to that actual events.

And no, the Framers would not be considered by and large libertarians. They felt the key concept was ordered liberty and part of that ordering came from subsidiarity (governance at the lowest level possible) and another part by civil society. The second is what DeTocqueville noticed.

But civil society doesn't appear out of nowhere as a spontaneous creation--it is instead one of culture and no--all cultures are not equal in promoting individual growth and liberty (not freedom).

Importing those from other cultures wholesale and expecting them to become good libertarians is insane and can be ridiculed as magic dirt theory.

435 Wait. Does that mean less tax revenue for federal, state, and local governments?
Posted by: mrp

It will. Property taxes are always a lagging indicator which is why local governments and some states love them so. Confiscation and resale of property for failure to pay taxes and fake increases in value due to inflationary pressures take some of the heat off state and local at first.

Consumption taxes are are more likely to stagnate but inflation is helping state and local governments out there as well as you pay more for less which means a higher total revenue goes to the states and local gubmints.

Federal government revenue is rising in inflationary terms but there is some counter indexing in individual deductions, etc.

Gets complicated but basically, using fed taxes as pct of gdp fell in 2022. OECD has not released 2023 that I could find yet.

At the rate of growth in spending, even a slight slowdown in federal tax revenues accelerates growth in debt.
