I think when we hiked around the caldera of a volcano at the far south end of the North Island in NZ there were colors as in the photo up top. Sulfur's yellow, right? Definitely had the rotten egg smell going on. Actually wild part were the clouds, which at times made it hard to see more than 5 ft in front of you - walking on sometimes narrow-ish paths that had 500-ft drop-offs on one side, unable to see more than 5 ft, was exhilarating. Forget the name of the national park. Typical name with far too many vowels, some Maori thing I suppose.

NC National Guard @NCNationalGuard
The North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) is aware of an incident involving a NCNG UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter during a delivery of generators at the request of a local civilian organization to power their distribution outpost in western North Carolina. While attempting to land, rotor wash caused items to blow away from the local distribution set up by a group of civilians in the area. The crew immediately identified the situation, aborted the landing for safety reasons, and departed the area. This incident is currently under investigation and the crew has been grounded until the investigation is complete. The NCNG is working with the identified local civilian organization to assess the level of damage caused by the rotor wash. Safety is the NCNG’s number one priority, especially with the high volume of air operations currently happening across the region. While the NCNG strives for precision in every mission, sometimes things don’t go as planned. When that happens, the NCNG takes it very seriously and are committed to addressing and correcting any issues to prevent future occurrences Posted by: andycanuck (CEzQx) at October 09, 2024 08:41 PM (CEzQx) 93

One of the funniest videos I've ever seen was the helicopter "rescue" of the poor bastard getting air-lifted in a stretcher. The dangling stretcher started to spin, and that's when hilarity ensued. This Blues Name chart is a most wondrous amusement. Let me take a look - Werner Stipetić Herzog (Ja, I never use my middle name - would you with a moniker like Stipetić? It sounds like some eldritch conjuration, and being a Kraut suggests that such speculation may not be as far from being true as one might hope)....okay, got it. Werner's Blues name is Screamin' Bad Boy Rivers. That is awesome and much to be desired, such that....nein, Werner is not going to lie to you, that one sucks. Screamin' is a good starting point, and all who have met him know that Werner is, on occasion, a Bad Boy, so he is good with Screamin' Bad Boy. But the Rivers part? That one screams (heh) "insurance agent," or "Interior Design Consultant." Werner means no disrespect to either profession, as both are good, honest work, and necessary in a civilized society. But, as a whole, the name is suggestive of parental malpractice.
Werner envisions a C-Section delivery, in which the mother is anesthetized to the point of twilight sleep, and the father, having consumed way more Jim Beam than would be reasonable, or overindulged on amyl nitrate, answers uh...Screamin' Bad Boy, it's my mother's name. You feel what Werner is saying, ja? Imagine scribbling that in on one's name tag at a professional convention, or a corporate retreat. Use initials, you say. Hell yes, Werner replies, Mama Herzog didn't raise no fools. But try living your life with that. Even as a Blues man, it brings shame and despair. It is like unto, let's see...ja, it is like being christened Mud Flap Heinrich von Kitty Litter. What would your wife, Mrs. Kitty Litter, call you? Muddy, babe, can you pick up some sugar and a baguette or two at Krogers? And also kill yourself, because none with such a name should live. And you would say, she has a point, and what is the best method to make an end-run into the Afterlife. Should you deliver the requested grocery items before driving over the edge of the local rock quarry with the deep tarn below it? It seems only right to do so, for you love your spouse, Christine "Kitty" von Kitty Litter, and she may have some major culinary project in mind. Is leaving a note a good idea? Tradition suggests it would be so. Something like, To the World, I apologize. My parents were not given to sensible thinking. Peace and Love to all, Mud Flap out.

That would indeed be awesome. Unfortunately, Werner attended high school in Deutschland, where one expressed interest in a promising young lady by stalking a wild boar armed with nothing save a nine-inch knife, known as a Messer. After a savage battle, if you survived, you would bring her back the pelt of the creature with its head still attached. This you laid before her and performed what was known as the Bavarian Thriller. (your Michael Jackson stole some of our moves from that one) If she accepted your invitation to go out, she would don the pelt and parade around her friends, who would be stricken with envy, especially if the boar tusks were of a large size. Ah, the good memories, those were wonderful times, ach. Posted by: Werner Herzog Has Opinions at October 09, 2024 09:56 PM (tmPIh) 203
