Rosh Hashanah Cafe

Hamentashen2.jpg

L'Shana Tova to the Jewish members of the Horde, and well-done on starting holiday on Wednesday night, rolling right into that coveted four-day weekend. (I got "L'Shana Tova" from Peaches.)

And: Whoops! I forget to hit publish. I've been busy zapping the 300+ tabs I've opened the past couple of weeks.

A stronk empowered female lead. Quick, let's make a $250 million Disney Plus show about this three-second clip.

Rainbow with lightning.

Keep the annoying Turkish music muted, and just enjoy this Chad Stag.

Happypaws!

Learning from mom.

This kitten must be a goth.

Hide and sneak.

You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him.

Gator-wrangling.

Cynics will call this AI.

Little dog agility test.

It's #FatBearWeek. Have you given a donut to a bear today? Don't worry, he'll just sneak into your kitchen and take it himself.

Pug has no chill:

37 Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is a 1633 oil-on-canvas painting by the Dutch Golden Age painter Rembrandt van Rijn. It is classified as a history painting and is among the largest and earliest of Rembrandt's works. It was purchased by Bernard Berenson for Isabella Stewart Gardner in 1869 and was displayed at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston before its theft in 1990; it remains missing. The painting depicts the biblical event in which Jesus calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee, as is described in the fourth chapter of the Gospel of Mark.[1] It is Rembrandt's only seascape.[2]

48 Israel War Room @IsraelWarRoom 6h
In the past three weeks, 14 more IDF soldiers have been killed while defending the State of Israel.

Overnight, in two separate incidents, eight IDF soldiers were killed while battling Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon.

Amit Bakri, Daniel Mimon Toaff, Dotan Shimon, and Agam Naim were killed when they entered a building in Gaza that had been booby-trapped by Hamas terrorists. Agam is the first female IDF soldier killed during the IDF's ground campaign against Hamas in Gaza.

Tomer Keren was killed by a Hezbollah suicide drone that landed in the Western Galilee, and Nael Fwarsy was killed in the Galilee panhandle by Hezbollah anti-tank missile fire.

May their memories be a blessing; they will forever be remembered as heroes. 🕯️

Yes. I’ve been doing a series on the refrigerator revolution (the second part went live this morning, so link in nic), which basically followed the grid from urban to rural areas. It’s amazing how much just that one product changed how we live, and it is entirely reliant on a constant electrical supply.

205 149 50 Anna, I finally had an authentic vegemite sandwich, from a real Australian. I didn't hate it! But they served it like a tea sandwich...it had the vegemite and butter and cucumbers, and the crusts were cut off. I think the sweetness of the cucumber cut down the strong umami of the vegemite. Would eat again.

Posted by: tankdemon

Ach, Werner is late to the thread. I had to chastise Keith Olbermann for trying to behave as if he was a human. Tanldemon aced the most important rule of feeding bears -he lived to tell the tale. With bruins, one must observe whether they are pissed, hungry, hungry and pissed, or just want to watch Dontown Abbey. This last is most important to them, and one must be careful not to interrupt their viewing. Now must Werner return to the chastisement of Olbermann. The taser has been recharged, and he shall show remorse for his sins against humanity.

Food is people or vice versa. We didn't need any constant power, and gas was maintained, which allowed hot water. Otherwise, we used candles and oil lamps. But yeah, not losing freezer goods was our main problem.

225 USAAF estimated 2% of its bombs dropped in Europe were duds. So over 120,00 duds, including GP, frag, and incendiary. A 500 LB GP bomb would penetrate an average of 15 feet in soil with a maximum penetration of 40 ft. This is why dud bombs from all combatants are still being found. Fuses of those bombs were armed before impact. So who knows what will and will not cause the fuses to fire nowadays?
