The NWS local guys are usually conservative and don't get into the hype and extreme stuff, and they have currently about 20mph sustained and 45mph gust peaks for me here.

After exhaustive investigation, it is found that, almost always, the problem is a known issue or mistake done once again. The same issues show up again and again.
We have no margin for losing operational ships from the fleet. Our ship handling training program was for shit until very recently. We also lost a lot of expertise due to personnel mismanagement, COVID vaccine stupidity, and burn out.

Well, we effectively have not had a CinC for 4 years, and we lack a media that is willing to hold the administration responsible for anything, accompanied by a military that has been hollowed out and reduced to a DEI clown show to an unprecedented degree, and an opposition party that doesn't really oppose much of anything even though it absolutely could through the budget.

We can discuss this, but the biggest problems to solve are at the national leadership level. My peeps have punched well above their weight in the county and local level here. We can be a life boat locally, but the national level is where it is the most dire.
