The Superstars of Miami Vice Cafe

angeloaktree.jpg
Angel Oak Tree in Charleston, South Carolina

All the guest stars to appear on Miami Vice. Everyone was on that show, including people you'd swear were too young to be on Miami Vice, like... Viggo Mortenson. And people you just wouldn't guess, like Michael Richards and Helena Bonham Carter. Obviously Brian Dennehy is in the mix.

Kid gives an umbrella to a stray dog out in the rain.

When your cat isn't a fan of your new tattoo.

Friendly owls.

The ultimate stand-off.

Garage inventor creates "realistic" Iron Man suit. I can't vouch for anything in this video. He documents his creation of the "Iron Man suit" on his YouTube channel.

Chris Rock?

Smiling sheep.

Might want to check for a gas leak.

Montage of movie dance sequences.

Pretty puppies pose for a picture.

It is the first time the ADL has sued a major American company in its over 100-year history.
“It is incumbent on us to use every tool available, including the courts, when necessary ... including in the workplace,” said ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt.

Entry-level and recruiting roles have been hit especially hard, per The Journal, and companies are looking for engineers with larger skills sets who can do more with less.

51 Angel Oak was claimed to be the oldest tree east of the Mississippi.

I've been there and taken photos of it as well.
It's quite a sight in person.

There are many upright 2x4s used as supports for the branches near the ground
This guy either used Photoshop to remove those boards or hid them very well with shadows - I'm leading towards Phop retouching.

It's a nice shot of a huge tree which is very hard to frame in camera.

After Hurricane Hugo came up the east coast the Navy sent marine architects from the USS Constitution to look at trees similar to the Angel Oak. A lot of old trees, some were over 150 years old, were surveyed for possible restoration work on the Oldest Ship in the USN. The end of an old oak can be a transplant.

Of the others creatures of the Veldt, Werner would also counsel wariness towards the hyenas, who have embraced wholesale the faith of the Jehova's Witnesses. I condemn not their faith, only their relentless visitations to your home dwelling, where even telling them that I am a Lutheran avails nothing. What of the other African creatures, you ask? Werner extolls the virtues of the Honey Badger. One always knows where one stands with them, and they lack hypocracy. One of their number named Mo-Fo Flesh Ripper Junior (such are the forms of their names, Werner has no part in this), knowing that I was a victim of boredom and lethargy, reached out to help me from the kindness of his heart. Werner, said he, let us go forth and kick the ass of the numerous Mambas that plague all here. At least I think he said that, but it may have been the ayahuasca talking. 251 I was one of those "can't miss it" Miami Vice fans from (almost) the very beginning -- I missed the first four broadcast episodes. When a friend of mine mentioned that one of my favorite musicians -- Jan Hammer -- was providing the score for the show, I had to tune in. The first episode I saw was "Calderone's Return." I was instantly hooked, and never missed an episode from that week on...

...until the 4th season episode "Missing Hours." The show didn't just Jump The Shark, it shoved a rocket up it's @$$ and went into orbit. It broke the "Must See TV" spell completely. I stopped watching regularly when "The Cows of October" came on. The show had become a joke. I would occasionally tune in during the 5th season, but it just wasn't the same, especially since Jan Hammer was no longer scoring the show. I did catch the series finale, to which my brother gave a pithy (and fitting) review; "Man, that wasn't even good drunk."

The first six frigates of the US Navy, including USS Constitution of course, had frames and braces ('knees') of Southern Live Oak. It has very dense and very strong wood as you can see from the long, cantilevered main limbs of the Angel Oak. The Southern Live Oak components of the six frigates helped make then seem invulnerable to shot fired from Royal Navy ships in the War of 1812 ("Old Ironsides"). There are many Live Oaks in my corner of coastal Texas. The lower limbs of some 40-year old specimens planted five feet from the curb in my neighborhood horizontally extend half-way across a 4-lane street. Strong stuff!

This month, Earth will grab itself a second moon in the form of the tiny asteroid 2024 PT5.

When I lived in South FL Southern Yellow Pine was all the rage if you could get it. I moved to S FL in 1976 and by that time the pine forrests had been turned into homes that I was installing aluminum siding. That was some hard wood. One job I did for a widower gentleman Mr Flynn was a retired engineer formerly employed at Chris Craft Pompano Beach. Lunch time Mr. Flynn would invite me in. He drank one beer while opening his mail and told stories.
Once on a 3 martini lunch him and an associate went to a junk yard to have the rear fin from a 57 desoto tourched off. then took it back and made a fiberglass mold for the first chris Crafy ski boat ever.. 1958-9?
