Right, it was obvious she and the mutineers would keep on escalating. If Joe had any chance of winning, they would make it plain that they would take that small chance away by always talking him down until he agreed to drop out. By the way, you remember the deal they offered Joe -- and offered it publicly. If and only if he resigned would they stop attacking him and hail him as a selfless hero who put party over personal ego. And they did keep up that side of the bargain. The moment Joe was out, all they could do was talk about what a great president he was. Strange that such a great president is disposed of so readily. But did you notice? It wasn't just acknowledge Democrat partisans who delivered on this "drop out and we'll give you a hero's triumph" treatment. The media also took part in the ritual hagiography of Biden. I can understand why partisan Democrats put on this very political performance, attacking Biden nonstop until he dropped out, and then, after he'd bowed to their will, giving him the heroic send-off they promised. But gee willickers, why would our Objective, Straight-Shooting Truth-Tellers of the Media take part in this quit-pro-quo beatification of Biden? It's almost like they're part of the Combined Arms of the Democrat military. Biden's also pissy about his "friend" Obama hanging him out to dry:

And the president's anger flashed to the surface during a televised interview that aired this weekend when he namechecked the former speaker as he explained why he quit the race. "And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic," Biden told CBS. "You'd be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say, why did so -- and -- and I thought it'd be a real distraction."

But Biden's inner circle believes Pelosi was the decisive voice in pushing him out. His allies thought that, after nearly two weeks of trying to reassure fellow Democrats, his candidacy was on track to be salvaged the morning of July 10. But that was when Pelosi made a now-infamous appearance on "Morning Joe," repeatedly making clear that she did not support Biden continuing his candidacy. The president's aides believe that opened the door for a host of other Democrats and donors to follow suit.Shyeah. Sure sounds that way.
Moreover, Biden's inner circle told him the day before he dropped out that if he persisted in the race they believed that Pelosi was going to take her misgivings public -- including her belief that Trump would defeat him -- which would have been deeply humiliating for a sitting president, two of the people said. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday said that Biden "respects" Pelosi and insisted that he has "no hard feelings."

Joe's competence numbers were consistently weak before he announced the decision to drop out of the race. And almost instantaneously after becoming the presumptive nominee, Kamala appeared to be the New Hope for the Democratic Party and the polls are reflecting that observation. Trump is now on defense and not doing very well.
I believe Joe made the right decision.
My frustration is with the party and the nattering class. Joe would have won the election. People would have turned out. Nobody would have stayed home, or voted for tsf instead.
Maybe they wouldnt have been as excited, but they would have voted. The polls were and are garbage.
The only frustrations I have is the clearly unequal treatment the press gave Biden versus **$$Y-Grabber, and also I think those who publicly denounced Biden should have done it privately.
Otherwise, I think Kamala Harris is Biden's legacy to us. She has been terrific.
He was VolenTold to step aside. He deserved more respect than what he got.

While I was there - 15 or so years ago, maybe - a family of Japanese tourists asked me to take their picture in front of the monument, and I happily obliged. The camera was fancy and did face recognition for multi-point auto focus back when that was pretty unusual in a compact camera. It worked. It worked really well. It focused on the giant stone heads. I had to ask the dude to turn it off so I could get the picture, because his camera was in Japanese and I don't speak or read Japanese. We had a good laugh, he turned it off, and I snapped the pictures for them.
I periodically laugh about that from time to time.

I noted that Moab, Utah has not had a property tax since 1992, they recently decided (after WuHan nuked tourism for a year) that they are going to re-install one. I have some mixed feelings about the concept. Moab is a Tourist Town with a capital "T". A license to print money.
I can see no reason why a state like Nevada, with legalized gambling, should not have those monies go towards property tax relief. Same with lotteries or other deceptive arithmetical state-run bunko ops.
Speed trap cameras. Our city fathers "negotiate" a 2 per cent cut of revenues with an out of state firm, no points on the license. Great job, guys. I feel safer already.

I got asked to take a couples picture one memorable time. On a bridge at Shaw Park in Jamaica. My mother in law loved reading books about murderers. My wife enjoyed sharing them with her. So she got her hands on a famous NJ murder case where the husband had his wife killed at a NJ Parkway rest stop.
At the back inside cover of the book is a picture of the couple in happier times in Jamaica. Life is strange. I know without a shadow of a doubt that is the picture I took. The timeline fits exactly.

Reagan had a great record as Governor of Cali to run on . He also was great on camera for obvious reasons he appealed to the electorate. I voted for him in 80 and 84. I was naive and thought Bush would continue Reagans policies but a couple months after Bush got in there was a slight recession that resulted in mortgage money drying up and a stoppage of housing construction that resulted in me getting layed off. .

Same goes for education. 90 percent of the money spent is by state and local government. But that 10 percent from the feds rules the roost.
Same for Medicaid. And so on. A lot of federal overreach can be cured by a state saying no and making it stick. Too many people are easily bribed by the desire for Other People's Money.

Eh. Scaramucci was a bad choice, and no one to blame but Trump for having made it. It wasn't naivete. All of the red flags were there and he never should have been chosen for the position to begin with, and then dumping him 11 days later made a lifelong enemy,
So, yeah, the swamp is bad, we have no quarrel there. But I worry that Trump hasn't gotten better here. I get it, he's not the kind of guy to admit mistakes and I am not suggesting that has to. but he should say I have learned and here are the kind of people that I will hire.....

Having lived in DC in the belly of the beast and seeing a lot of the Reagan Revolution playing out in real time, you learn a few facts.
Congress is the Keystone to the Washington Establishment and they have a uniparty relationship with the constellations of government contractors, the bureaucracy, and the special interest groups (aka K Street Bandits).
Every president, however well intentioned or not (Obama came in with ill intentions from the start), faces having to deal with the existing blob. They control who gets put forward, they control the nomination process, they control the agenda of the bureaucracy, etc.
So, essentially a president gets to focus on one or two agenda items and the rest goes to hell in every administration. Trump's focus was on the economy, immigration, and no more wars. He got one and got stalemates on the other two.
