Is that Ace? Maybe...maybe not!

And what is his fascination with the shit-show that is the current Disney? Why, it's almost as if he had an unfortunate experience as a child at DisneyWorld. Like, for instance, he saved up for months to buy a Disney character that will remain unnamed (could it be a stuffed Baby? I'll never tell!), but when he got to the park, they were sold out!

***

Ace and his fascinations do not stop at Disney. He is totally mesmerized by royalty, King Harv.
Forbidden Coffee
The True Tale of King Harv's
Mars coffee plantation

Part 1: The Beginning

There are many things mankind is not meant to know about. One of these is the fact that Mars has been settled since 2002, specifically for the purposes of coffee cultivation. King Harv's Imperial Coffees Mars to be precise.

It started long, long ago. I am the son of King Harv, well known coffee tycoon and millionaire philanthropist. I was just a recent Chemistry graduate and Software engineer who had been tinkering for years on the topic of space travel. Specifically with the use of the metal wires steaming out of the Army's Hellfire missiles being used not for destruction, but as a dynamic bridge to the planets. Now each missile has a wire capacity of about 2.5 miles. The closest Mars would appear would be 34.8 million miles. Hence with only 13.92 million Hellfire missiles, with the wires spliced together, they could make it to Mars. Now, removing the explosive shaped charge of each missile, and extending the wire length accordingly, I figured we could get by with only 9 million Hellfire's. The next step was where to acquire or manufacture them. Or something similar to them.

I had an internet friend die of cancer ('Pandora' internet name). Talked to her a lot. Long late night calls. Cancer.

She believed in prayer so I'd like to ask for prayers, not so much for her (although I think she'd appreciate it and find it funny that I'm asking), but for her husband whom she loved very much. She worried about him while she was dying. 'What's he gonna do?'

Thank you.

48 I have always wondered about the “Groypers” wondered who they really were. Saw something on X today which gave me a conclusion. JD Vance gave a very strong performance in an interview this morning; but within about 2 or 3 hours, about 10 - 20 accounts with “groyper” in the screen name posted identical attacks on Vance with the same unflattering (but meaningless and stupid) picture. The extreme similarity of all of these posts was very striking.
This is not the response of ordinary posters. This is the response of a centrally organized astroturfed operation, designed to appear to be “conservative” but in fact paid to launch online attacks for the Left against both Trump and Vance.

57 I fi d it difficult, nigh impossible, to believe that every souvenir kiosk in the Magic Kingdom was sold out of Baby plushies. Was that movie so popular and the character so beloved that every child just had to have a velveteen likeness for themselves?

Okay, I see what really happened. Poor ace (he doesn't capitalize his name while commenting, so I will follow his lead there) didn't go to Disneyland until at least three weeks after the release of the film, by which time, much like the career of Eldridge Carpenter, it had totally slipped from the nation's collective memory. The character had not been sold out, it was just no longer available.

The Vegas event was notable for Governor Walz's multi-media presentation on his gallant deed at the Battle of Thermopylae, accentuated by the cape and loin cloth included in his attire. They should add competitive line cutting. "Line cutting" is where one makes a straight pathway through dense forest by chopping out underbrush, saplings, etc. So that surveyors, geologists, geophysicists, and other bush users can get themselves, and their gear, and strung-out wires through the bush as easily as possible. It is HARD work, and accuracy is as important as speed.

I own 2. This is how it works. Moving one that has been situated on a block foundation for X number of years will more or less destroy the structure. Some can be moved from A to B. None will be without damage. Sometimes irreparable.

Renting a "trailer" in a "trailer park" is not ownership.

Whwn i was a kid we had a game called rumble. You threw a nerf football up in a tree and whoever caught it had to run around and everyone else tried to tackle the guy with the ball. If you missed a tackle and fell to the ground you were out or if you got tackled. When you got tired of running the ball you could punt by throwing it back up in the tree. Now that's a sport.

Posted by: Cuthbert the Witless at August 11, 2024 10:52 PM (uBBbP)

185 Fun fact... in order to get a conventional mortgage on a "mobile home" (in order to refer it legally as "property") the ability to move it is removed.

That is, the hitch that brought the house in, or the pieces onto your plot/land/etc. is cut off.

So "moving" a mobile home once it's been set is more or less a non-starter.
Posted by: Martini Farmer

In the state of washington, mobile homes are considered personal property, you pay a higher interest rate. Now if it is placed on a permanent foundation it is considered real property and qualifies for traditional mortgage loans.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at August 11, 2024 10:23 PM (Jj3ts)

Yes, sort-of. Helicopters were very successfully armed with TOW and many foreign wire-guided anti-tank missiles. The helicopter had to hover in-sight of the target for a decent hit probability. So, pretty-much stationary. Making the helo vulnerable to AA fire. The US Army worked to minimize the exposure time of the Cobras and Apaches by using Kiowa spotting helicopters in teams with the attack helicopters. The Kiowas had a rotating optical sight mounted above the rotor so the helo itself could stay below a tree line or hill yet pinpoint targets for the attack helos to pop-up and fire at. The attack helos only had to expose themselves for the TOW missile flight time, not that plus target search time.

Tank vs anti-tank. A century-old battle continuing to play-out in Ukraine.

No, the sock-counting script goes by hashes. Unless it's changed recently; one of the CoBs said it was hash-based when this came up in the past.

I get different hashes on my cell phone, but a consistent one on my home computer (this "dog gravy" hash.) So only my homeworn sockpuppets count. I made the list near the bottom during the work-from-home Covidiocy, but maybe only once since then.

I think Miklos has two consistent hashes, and he makes the list twice sometimes. Someone is like that, my apologies if it's not Miklos.

And people have made the list under unrecognizable names, since if you use each name exactly once, the sock-counting script doesn't know which one is your normal AoS handle.

It was never intended to be a gd documentary, and it's not. A lot of people get hung up on that. It's a docuDRAMA.

It IS fairly faithful to Lawrence's own book "War in the Desert," which is part of his "Seven Pillars of Wisdom." The film's producer bought the screen rights. But the historicity of Lawrence's OWN book is a matter of great controversy.

All the controversies add to the film's fascination, imo.

That's my take as well, Bye-den shoved Cum-allah up the Dems/Obama's ass for forcing him out; they hadn't counted on shrewd political hack Joe Bye-den being around anymore. IIRC, it took Barry a few days before endorsing Cum-allah as she was not his choice.

Yep, and even now that the whole cholesterol causes heart attacks fable has been debunked sometime around 2015, doctors won't tell you and keep prescribing those statins. I wonder if there are still payoffs for them?
In the 40s hundreds of thousands soldiers were tested (blood). Now these were mostly extremely healthy 18-22 yearolds. Cholesterol average (bell curve) was 200-220. The medical bigwigs (3 of them) decided that in order to have anyone to study they should make it Below 200 as normal. And here we are 60 years later still with that made up standard.

347 On doctors, recall that the FDA had to ban lots and lots of Big Pharma practices because doctors were too naive and venal to see through them. Big Pharma was giving doctors what amounted to free vacations, meals, and other payments in kind. And doctors were perfectly content to do whatever Big Pharma said in exchange. There was little resistance, except the FDA, back when it was anti-industry. The FDA's since been coopted by industry, and med schools are thoroughly committed to DEI on top of all this. Doctors are really no better than lawyers at this point, and that's saying something, because the legal profession is deeply corrupted at this point.

The promotion from E-8 to E-9 was conditional. He was a Sergeant Major that needed to finish Command Sergeant Major school when he bugged out. He'd reenlisted for four more years to get the promotion/schooling and dropped his retirement papers after two years. The MN NG/Army? did something rarely heard of and yanked his promotion after he got out, publicly stating that he'd retired as an E-8.

Towards the end of the US Civil War it was very common, then it was called being Brevetted. I had an ancestor who was made a Brevetted General on the last day of his career, I think the Federal Army did a couple hundred of those, maybe more.
But that is NOT what happened to Walz. Walz was given the promotion conditional on him serving his unit in thru upcoming Iraqi deployment.

FiL was made an IA NG colonel upon his retirement, making him a brevet colonel. But he still refers to himself as a lieutenant colonel. Posted by: Anna Puma at August 12, 2024 12:02 AM (/7uf9)

From what I read on Wki ( don’t laugh ) was that his official rank when he retired was Master Sgt because his promotion to Sgt Major was provisional and since he retired 2 years early his rank was officially Master Sgt.

If it’s normal to be able to still say he retired a Sgt Major in that scenario then it shouldn’t be an issue.

That is correct. He had a temporary promotion to CSM provided he take two training courses and ship out to Afghanistan or Iraq, I forget which. He re-upped for 6 years. He finished one course, then begged out after 4 to run for office. Due to those two factors, got out 2 years early as a Master Sergeant. Never in a combat zone but did do a little time in Italy. Claimed to be in combat and suffering PTSD. Talked about being at Bagram (in Iraq, he said, which is more BS). The dude's worse that Magic Hat Kerry, if that is even possible.

He also wanted to ban the weapons 'he carried into war', another oopsy-daisy.

Many videos of him interviewed and nodding along with the combat veteran narrative (he built) -- numerous times. They can claim no accident or slip of the tongue.

He's toast at the convention.

I wish someone at the nursing facility would apologize for keeping my father in solitary and not diagnosing his parkinsons until I mentioned his hand tremors. I also wish the Governor who declared that nursing home patients had to be kept isolated due to the virus could only be allowed visitors if they had the shots, and then when he got the shots they changed their minds and kept him in solitary anyways.

I also want a pony, and you know, the plumbing company who came to replace my sewer line to the street actually sent me a picture of a pony before they ripped up the side yard all the way to the curb.

I did learn: that aids of that style are not terribly uncomfortable to wear, although the earplugs tended to work free over the course of a few hours.

Concept being it does not interfere with whatever natural hearing one has but the amplifier is placed on a bone that resonates sound through the cranium thus amplified and picked up by that resonating bone.

As I understand it, Mars' problem from a terraforming perspective was that you can load it up with all the atmosphere and water that you want, but in its absence of a strong magnetic field, Solar Storm Days would keep more kids out of its public schools -- were the colonists stupid enough to import that failed education model -- than anything else.

And the absence of a strong and consistent magnetic field on Mars was due it not having a molten, and therefore capable of rotating, nickel-iron planetary core.

On the TeeVee, you see people using mikes with those big foam muffs on them; they seem to cancel wind noise quite effectively. (This title he took from Steve Buscemi in an epic slap-fight that raged for hours; to be the man you must beat the man.) Having lost a bet to Giada de Laurentis, whose pleasant exterior masks a ruthlessness that would make Machiavelli turn more pale than Christopher Walken in an Arctic blizzard, it fell to me to helm this project. Mars did have a magentic field way back billions of years ago. It lasted for a while, but the internal dynamo shut down.

One of the landers up there (a stationary one) has some of sort of seismic instrument which will be used to try to better get a handle on the internal structure.

In that ancient epoch, Mars also had an ocean. The ocean would've been over most of the northern hemisphere. The dry land would've been mostly on the bottom half.
