Dogs: Man's best friend who sometimes wants to help man die in a fire.

High hopes.

BMX shredding.

A little jet-skiing through huge cataracts.

Good doggie hangs up his leash and cleans all his paws at a low sink when he gets in from a walk.

Nap time for elephants.

Pulpit Rock in Norway.

Belugas swimming. They're not doing anything cute this time, except being their cute beluga selves.

What is claimed to be Virginia's most dangerous trail, the "Old Rag," is hiked by a girl with a nice thicc booty. A little something for everyone.

A backyard test take-off of a garage-built F-35B VTOL jet.

Sometimes a hurricane brings people, and dogs, together:

These are the dogs of @dorchesterpaws. Or at least, they were. This weekend, every single one of them found a foster home. As Hurricane Debby approached landfall, this rescue in Summerville, South Carolina, knew it needed to act fast. Their area is forecast to get more than 20 inches of rain this week, leaving almost 300 animals in kennels that would soon be underwater. Dorchester Paws put out a call for volunteers to step up and clear out the shelter during the storm, and their community answered in a big way. People lined up the next morning to pick up pets, and by Sunday afternoon, every single dog and cat in their care had a foster home to ride out the storm in. "We haven't seen an empty shelter for over 15 years so we are just so grateful," the shelter told us. This wouldn't have been possible without the coordination of the staff and the community of volunteers who opened their hearts and homes to animals in need. We hope everybody stays safe during the impending rains.

Starliner is a poster child for "behind schedule and overbudget". The first crewed flight test was supposed to be in 2017. It's now 2024 for that first crewed flight.

And then, it's a mess. The reaction control rockets overheated, which caused a seal to mess up in the fuel lines (so they say). Plus some helium leaks. So overheating, leaky thrusters and other leaks.

They could exactly figure out what caused the overheating. The difference was the performance of the thing in vacuum and orbital conditions vs on the ground apparently.

It may be as bad as running computer model simulations vs real world testing. "Oh, the computer run says it's good, no need to properly test".

149 "Stolen Valor" is more of an informal enforcement. Courts have held, for reasons unknown, that it is a free speech issue to wear a military uniform, even if one has not served in the military. Fraudulent representation.

I mean, what about say, Cops or Firemen? Is that "free speech" to falsely portray that? Why or why not? What I noticed most often, was that the PX Rangers always talked shit about the military, and they never even served, or, they only flew a desk at Ft. Riley or something like that.

There are a couple "full time" folks who kind of monitor public pronouncements. A lot of these guys are idiots who claim they were "special forces recon raiders in the Seals" and vague about their duty stations and terms of service and are quickly exposed and debunked.

Had to go eat supper. But after the problem with the thruster overhearing and leaking was discovered, they didn't want to undock and risk going home. NASA tried to downplay the problems, but it was clear it was a major thing and they weren't going to risk sending those two back home in the thing.

And then, a couple days ago, it leaks that the damned POS capsule can't autonomously undock from the ISS port. A crew has to be inside to manually do the undocking procedure.

Which is curious, very curious, because the previous unmanned test flight did indeed dock and undock with the ISS on it's own.

But, for this manned version, they removed that software capability from the flight controls.

They're talking about uploading new software to the damned thing to add the autonomous undock routines, but who knows if that will work, or even they even know how. Probably something else bat-shit crazy will pop up.

Can they just cut it loose from inside? Apparently such a thing could damage the port.

Could an astronaut go in, undock, then open the hatch and EVA back in the station? Don't know if that's possible given what they have. Might not have anything to do that. (Suits might be too big to get out of the hatch with the EVA equipment on.

You're being too literal about this. Nobody is claiming he didn't serve. The point is that he served in Minnesota and when he found out that his unit was going to be deployed to Iraq he retired on short notice. He was the top enlisted man in the unit and he left his team right as they were going into combat.

Nobody is arguing he is going to be prosecuted. The question is should he be disqualified from high office after years of lying about his record and accepting accolades he did not earn.

It doesn't make a lot of sense. It is always better to have more options, and at first glance software doesn't weigh too much. And I think they dislike re-booting computers in space.

There was one shuttle flight, can't recall the particulars but they had 2 out of 3 of their computers get horked in some way. They left the one good 'un alone. Something something, if they would have tried to reboot the third, it was Game Over.
