The Classical Saturday Morning Coffee Break & Prayer Revival

afternoon-drive-truck-yeah-20220720-119.jpg

^^^TRUTH^^^

*****

Before we enter the Prayer Revival, just a few housekeeping matters to take care of. (Rulz for those of you in Lake Mills)

1. This is an open thread. Please feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.
2. Be nice to one another. No jumping on the furniture, this isn't the Olympics.
3. No, there is not a running with sharp objects contest in the Olympics. No need to train.
4. Have a wonderful weekend!

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

6/15 – Jewells posted that she has decided to end her cancer treatments. She had 6 months to go on her 2 year palliative care program, but the chemo drug is ruining her quality of life.
7/13 Update – Jewells posted that the new CT scan showed some growth of the cancer, but for not having treatments for 3 months, it wasn’t bad. She likes the new doctor, and they are figuring out next steps, but Jewells still does not want more chemo.

6/15 – Grumpy and Recalcitrant asked for continued prayers for J.J. Sefton of the Morning Report. He is about to begin chemo and radiation therapy.
7/13 – J.J. posted that he was halfway through the 6-week treatment phase. Aside from being fatigued, there were no serious side effects, thank goodness. He will be having regular MRIs to monitor for any recurrence. He said he cannot thank everyone enough for their kindnesses, prayers, and expressions of support. He also sends prayers for all who are suffering, for complete and speedy recovery.
7/17 Update – J.J. said he is about the same – fatigued, but powering through as best he can.

6/25 – TP asked for prayers for JT, who is ill and in need of prayer.
7/13 Update – JT is in a rehab facility. No one has been able to speak with him, but prayers are still requested.

6/29 – bluebell passed along a request from grammie winger, who asked for prayers for her husband, Rev, who is having open heart surgery on 7/8 to take care of his aortic aneurysm. Recovery time is expected to be 6-8 weeks.
7/20 Update – Rev is still in the hospital. After recovering from the bowel obstruction, he got Covid.
7/26 Update – Rev had more surgery – a bowel resection.

7/6 – Miklos requested prayers for Old Mama, who at the age of almost 86, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which has apparently already spread.
7/11 Update – Old Mama was discharged from the hospital today. This is one of the cases in which the cancer can be surgically removed, and arrangements are underway. Miklos sends his thanks.

7/6 – neverenoughcaffiene brought up prayers for lousagirl, whose husband passed away a few weeks ago.

7/6 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for Jessie, the former church organist, who was hospitalized with a UTI.
7/13 Update – Jessie is out of the hospital, but still is dehydrated and her UTI medication was making her nauseous. She sends her thanks for the prayers, as does FenelonSpoke.

7/7 – mindful webworker was hospitalized again with intestinal issues. It was resolved without surgery.

7/8 – Tonypete’s friend’s granddaughter was in a severe car crash. She is gravely injured with massive head and leg injuries, and is in a coma. Prayers for her and for the rest of the family, including Tony’s friend Rudy, are appreciated.

7/11 – Stateless posted that he was at a low point, and could use some encouragement.

7/12 – AnnaS posted a request for prayers. Her husband was very sick.

7/13 – NR Pax asked for prayers for his mother-in-law, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. They have found a second mass, so she will be having another biopsy. Hopefully after that, surgery can be planned out.

7/13 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for a job for FenSon, as well as all the other recent college grads.

7/13 – Ruthless asked for prayers for an upcoming heart procedure on 7/23, to replace his aortic valve. It turned out that he had a birth defect that was never detected, but has caused some physical limitations over his 83 years, which were becoming worse.
7/24 Update – The valve replacement went well. Thanks for the prayers. He also got a pacemaker as well.

7/13 – Someone Else requested prayers for Bull Dog of Maggie’s Farm ,who is going through the same thing that JJ Sefton is.

7/13 – Chris C, a loyal lurker (and prayer) requests prayers for his bride, Melanie, who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She needs support as she is exhausted from caring for Chris and his 23 days in the hospital for a triple bypass that “went south”.

7/18 – Annie’s Stew sends prayers of thanks for God’s protection of President Trump.

7/18 – “Norman Spiny” requested prayers for his lovely wife, Cindy (married 33 years) who passed away on 7/20 due to metastatic breast cancer.

7/20 – Defenestratus asked for prayers for an aunt and uncle. The aunt just passed away after battling her second round of brain cancer. Her first bout was 34 years ago. The uncle has been distraught, and now they found a benign tumor at the base of his skull that is causing a blood vessel to be pinched. This is causing vision issues for him. They have to wait until next month to see if it is operable.

7/20 – barbarausa asked for prayers for her son. He has gone off the deep end again, and just got kicked out of rehab, after being kicked out of his last group home. He is calling her, asking her to come get him, and she cannot. She can’t take care of him, or keep him on his psych meds, or keep him in treatment, or live with the psychotic breaks.

7/21 – Nan in AZ asked for prayers for her doctors and her mom. Nan is in the hospital with possible cardiac issues. Nan’s dad passed away last month, so they are still dealing with that loss.

7/22 – Sponge’s First Lady is home and resting comfortably. The surgery went well and the doctor was pleased. They did remove some lymph nodes that looked suspect, but did not have to remove much mass around the cancer. They will have the results of the tests on the nodes next week. Thank you for the continued prayers as she has only just begun this whole thing.
7/30 Update – Only 1 of the 3 lymph nodes taken out tested positive for cancer. They believe they got all of the cancer out.

7/24 – Pooky’sGirl requested prayers for her SiL, who lost her mother to an MS-related aneurysm a few months ago, just found out that her father has pancreatic cancer.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.

Obama had the same tic, but was a bit smoother about it.

The press has gone all-in on lying about her record to the point of discrediting their previous coverage. That won't help, though, because she keeps talking.

46 The morning dawn walk was only interrupted with one yapping rat dog. That is pretty good for New Mexico where it seems everybody has five rat dogs which the owners think have human rights and are allowed to be outside yapping all night long.

With the walk out of the way I think I'm going to jump on the putt-putt and go find some lovely huevos rancheros for breakfast before the day heats up. After that, I'll hit the Saturday market here in Las Cruces, which is a fantastic affair, and pick up fresh tomatoes and things.

63 Yeah, yeah, I know it was on the Tech thread, but-

I cannot tell you how much I hated that evil Google AI "Dear Sydney" ad from the moment I saw it.

They were literally encouraging parents to teach their children to-

Never learn how to write properly. Never learn how to organize their thoughts. Never to have an original or personal thought. Never to learn how to properly express their emotions. In other words,-

their children should never learn to be functioning, independent human beings.

Why just plug into Google AI and it will do everything for you!

Google AI looks like some sort of Autism-Generating machine, or perhaps the ultimate grooming device telling you what your thoughts are or should be.

Good job, a-holes.

IMHO Google and Our Betters really do want your children and grandchildren to be nothing but pliable, neurotic, unthinking sex toys for their amusement.

Google AI is perfect proof of that.

It is one of the two threads I still follow here. The world as we long knew it is coming to an end; what comes next is not clear.

I find politics stressful and ultimately pointless. Greater powers are at work and I've found a remarkable level of peace and comfort by focusing on faith, family and community. This thread reminds us of that, renewing our spirts through faith and community.

IMO, it's the most important thread on the site.

79 My wife had a superpubic catheter for 20 years. You need to change the bad every week or so. Just throw it out. Don't try to reuse. You need to irrigate the catheter at least once a week. They normally want you to use saline. Wifey didn't like it. It caused pain. So, sterile water works.

And the fun part, you have to change the catheter periodically. A little Lidocaine to lubricate the catheter works wonders.

85 So a key thing I've concluded about the Trump assassination attempt:

1) The SS teams obviously reduced the range of security coverage, most likely due to management imposed personnel restrictions. This led them to give the AGR building grounds to the local authorities to secure.

2) The local authorities, whether through laziness or incompetence (though I think the former) simply shit the bed regarding security, and a lot of evidence backs that up:

The local authorities (Butler EMS) set up counter snipers inside a building and that would mostly likely be what the counter sniper teams recommended. Why? The cops told the SS that they will set up their command site inside the AGR building to allow the cops get out of the heat. The cops also told the SS site commander after the fact that the roof was too sloped so they couldn't set up on it.

Bunnies are in fact made of food. This statement is true.

We had a pair of baby raccoons living in the front garden for a few days. They were cute to watch as they climbed the tree, almost fell, etc. However, I'd let it be known that I was going to trap them and move them because I do not want adult raccoons living here.

The left on their own the next day. Problem solved.

Just Stop Oil’s stunts are partly funded by a campaign organisation run by Hillary Clinton, US financial disclosures reveal.

A group founded by Mrs Clinton from the ashes of her failed presidential bid has donated $500,000 (£391,500) in the last three years to the protest group’s California-based financiers.
.....
A paper trail of transparency disclosures, seen by The Telegraph, shows that one of the CEF’s major supporters is Onward Together, a campaign organisation founded by Mrs Clinton in the aftermath of her 2016 presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

Onward Together gave $300,000 to the CEF in 2021, and a further $200,000 in 2022. The money donated by her group was placed into a fund that was used to pay for Just Stop Oil’s protests in the UK.

Looking at the state of the world and politics I don't know how anyone can come to a conclusion other than we are in a spiritual battle for the soul of the world. The left wants to normalize mutilating children, eliminating women destroying western culture among other evil goals. That none of that is hyperbole shows were we are. As soon as I heard about it, I knew that it was a setup. You don't purposefully, deliberately cut a high profile target's security if you want them to live.

Now it's exposed, and yet one more institution has been disgraced.

I know a lot of people are impatient for a popular uprising or something, but an orderly society like ours can only do that when every last option has been exhausted. Less developed societies riot every weekend and twice on Wednesdays, but that's not how we want to live.

What must happen is that everyone involved in a position of trust has to be compromised, and that's well underway. The head of the world's premier law enforcement agency said under oath that he wasn't sure if Trump was shot or hit by a spinter. Wray thought he was being clever, but what he actually did was discredit himself and the FBI as a whole, which is why someone from the FBI immediately ran out and said it was bullshit.

Sometimes I cringe at the tilt towards isolationism by some here, but this is just dumb. We do not NEED to send US troops anywhere to fight Iran. We just need to be smart, and drill lots of oil (to impoverish their government, the same as Russia's).

176 Since this is the coffee thread-

Our coffee maker committed seppuku, so the lovely and caffeineophilic Mrs naturalfake wanted a snazzier new one.

This was during Prime Days or whatever Amazon calls it, so I did a little research, and found these guys:

https://sca.coffee

These are the most insane coffee nuts in the world and have a standard for the "perfect" cup of coffee - the "Gold Cup". And have a list of the coffeemakers able to produce a "Gold Cup" of coffee - https://sca.coffee/certified-home-brewer

Anyway we almost got one of the ridiculously expensive Technicolorworms Copacabana coffeemakers cuz they had a very good sale price, buuuut-

But the delightful and Brevilleophilic Mrs naturalfake saw that they had the Breville Precision Coffeemaker on the Gold Cup list and wanted that one cuz more snazzy settings and...Breville.

I hope Breville never comes out with Breville's Robot Husband because if so, I'm out of a job!

Okay, how is coffee made in the Breville Precision Coffeemaker?

Welp, surprisingly it is better by a wide margin- more aromatic, smoother, less bitter, tastes better.

I'm not a big coffee guy and even I noticed. So, there you go, coffee people.

One of the things they do in Colombia for various bulk harvests on the lower Andes slopes is to run a cable down the hill between poles, and slide the bags or buckets down it to the bottom from a pulley or a bight of cable, instead of humping the loads down on human or mule back.

You might consider stringing a 75-100' rope and sliding it down on a carabiner or a pulley. It requires a lot of work up front, but it might suck less than humping the entire pickup load down.

I went to the 20th and had fun, but the turnout was low. No effort at one since. I suspect Facebook is the culprit, since people can just see what everyone is doing. I got off because I hate social media and of course politics are so toxic everyone's probably blocked everyone else.

I do enjoy going to Michigan State's Alumni Band reunion. It's nice to see the old crowd, play the songs and see how the student band looks (never as good as we were, of course).

A side benefit is that it forces me to get back into shape necause I don't want to be too half-assed about it.

233 If any of the kids I went to HS with remained in the area they are likely hard core leftists now. The few times I looked at any news from the local area there had been acts of antisemitism done at the school. And the area is (or was) heavily Jewish when I lived there.

Again, I'm not following events closely at all, but my sense is that because of the way the British elections work, it's possible to get a minority of the popular vote and a crushing parliamentary majority, which is what happened.

This forces the common people to realize that (to coin a phrase) they can't vote their way out of the situation. And given that the government's response to migrant violence is outlawing tableware, using extraordinary means to register one's dissent seems the only option.

I was badgered into going to a 45 year reunion by several HS friends I still had contact with. First reunion I had attended. Sad to say the least. Most common question was, " what happened to all your hair?" High light was having one of the cheer leaders grab my ass and ask me if I was married. I introduced her to Mrs. Sock. Popped her ballon real quick.

Another curious development is that while Western government are becoming increasingly authoritarian, they've simultaneously wrecked the tools to enforce it.

The British, Canadian and now US armies are withering away. The remaining troops are so fed up that - given the chance - they'll likely join protestors rather than fire one them.

I don't think I've ever been to any reunion. I'm more of a bridge-burner in that regard.

Not that I had any particular problems in high school. The school was a big one and I had my group of friends, we all went on and did well.

I keep in touch with the ones I've wanted to stay in touch with.

A few years ago there was a high school reunion that I thought briefly about going to, but I couldn't think of anyone I particularly wanted to see.

I saw my old girlfriend at random about 10-15 years ago. They years had not been kind. Though my memory was of a fresh and pretty teenager, and I was confronted by an old(er) Mom. So, that may have been the reason.

anyway, so it goes.

257 The 9/11 terrorist deal was done with the full knowledge of the White House. Since the convening authority reports through DoD someone at the Pentagon knew it was happening. There is no doubt the White House knew as well. if you look at their statements, they are very cleverly crafted to avoid admitting the Executive Branch knew. The “deal” was done by ACLU types, who are sympathetic to the terrorists and are a large Democrat Party supporter. They are part of the food chain at GITMO because Democrats helped put them in place. It was a trial balloon, that could be wound back if the electoral politics went against them- and they did. I doubt their “rejection” of the deal is permanent, like most other positions the Democrats are suddenly rejecting. It’s insidious and insulting. All of it.

God bless you both, grammie. Woke up after surgery with a colostomy bag last October. Traded that for an ileostomy bag in April, which was slightly less hassle. Fun, yes. MiladyJo has been a blessed angel in helping me all the way, and has become quite an expert.

In October, when I awoke from surgery, first thing I said was, "Is Joe Biden still dead?" My daughter was concerned for my mental state. So, I followed that up with, "Am I alive?" Receiving an affirmative on that, I asked, "Am I still a guy?" Yes. Well, I'm okay then.

Despite the efforts of nature and doctors, I have not yet surpassed my sense of humor. It's a vital survival tool.

Socialism is a religion, a subset of the Marxist heresy.

Once you understand that, the reason why people persist with it makes more sense.

By labeling it "scientific," this allows practitioners to ban other expressions of religion as superstition, clearing the field for the faith.

269 Crooks probably selected the route that would conceal him the best from the SS counter sniper teams behind Trump. The local cops stupidly tried to "keep track" of him instead of detaining him. They lost track and got worried when Trump went on stage and started flooding the AGR grounds looking for Crooks. They start looking on the roof then a lot of them go to the east side of the AGR building. I think that is where they were trying to get on the roof. Crooks runs by on the roof and points his rifle at the cop poking his head above the roof line. The cop falls, Crooks still runs to the south roof, sets up and starts shooting.

The spectators (not supposed to be there either) see the cops and start looking for anything, Eventually a spectator sees Crooks on the roof and starts yelling "he's on the roof" but it appears the cops already suspected him of being on the roof.

I can see it now, they were sitting in the "command center" wondering what happened to the suspicious character when one of them says "maybe he went on the roof" and they all start panicking.

I don't disagree with that. This kind of thing has been happening in Parliamentary systems forever.

What I find more disturbing is what is being fought over. We are no longer arguing over traditional political issues, we are down to the basics of whether our western societies will survive or be replaced by a system of international totalitarianism.

Republican and Democrat are out the window. We are in a spiritual battle with evil and if you think that's over the top imagine 10 years ago one of the two parties in this country would be insisting that teachers have more rights over children than their parents and mutilating children is healthcare.

May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Very well said, Jack. I’m pretty sure Trump might’ve more a democrat than republican in the 80s. But whatever he might’ve called himself then, it’s clear he loves the country and is on the side of western civilization. I’m quite sure there are no longer democrats like Daniel Patrick Moynihan… remember him? Great intellectual and he was starting to feel uncomfortable in the Dem party during the Clinton era. He was an FDR democrat (like Reagan ironically). Modern era Dems and a lot of Republicans (Paul Ryan, never Trumpers) are outright destroyers or grifters

Chris Carbert and Anthony Olienick are found not guilty of conspiracy to murder, guilty on the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, guilty of mischief over $5,000. Olienick was also found guilty of unlawful possession of an explosive device.

So that tells me Trump was a target of opportunity by Crooks. It's quite possible that Crooks was stalking Trump to some degree (maybe his cell phone in DC is him at DC when Trump was in DC, etc).

The two big questions remain, how did he get his rifle on the roof and why did not the USSS prevent or remove Trump from the stage?

Considering Crooks would have to make it through the unknown security measures of the local police, I'm less inclined this was all planned out.

There were multiple opportunities for him to get caught by the po-po, which would've blown an entire conspiracy.

366 Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th. The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest. The FoxNews Debate will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a site in an area to be determined. The Moderators of the Debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and the Rules will be similar to the Rules of my Debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been treated horribly by his Party – BUT WITH A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!

367 If anyone knows about peeling army potatoes, it's You Know Who!

Yeah, I read an article about that - foreigners volunteer for the IDF, and are put to work peeling potatoes.

That's because the foreigners are generally in the IDF for only a few months, the Israelis get extensive training in part because they have twenty-five years of reserve duty after their active service, and if the sh*t truly hits the fan, Israelis are more likely to be reliable.

No matter - in any army, the potatoes have to be peeled, so it is still honorable service.

The second point is damning IMO and indicates some level of conspiracy. The local police radioed the SS and let them know there was a man on that roof WITH A RIFLE because he pointed it at them.

And whoever was in the SS command center did NOTHING with that info. There is no benign explanation for that.
