Unwise to do a two front war-Biden's Dog probably has better info than we do but the Israelis have not finished mopping up in Gaza and are still discovering (unfortunately bodies last week) where hostages are. Internal politics probably demands hostages be accounted for first along with the remnants of Ham Ass fighters before turning into a complicated invasion of S. Lebanon.
But in the interim, killing commanders of Hezbollah causes disruption in the chain of command and newer commanders may not have the rapport nor experience that the older ones do. Useful if you are planning to invade in the near future.

Erdogan has been making noises about entering the war on Hezballahs side, and while no one believes that nonsense, it is true that Turkey has a huge number of sophisticated drones and other military assets (they’ve been supplying Ukraine) and it’s expected that they will make these available to Hezballah. The IDF would be facing a level of sophistication in weaponry they’ve never faced before.

Due to the economic crisis in Lebanon, many parts of Lebanon have been a bit hostile towards Syrian and Palestinians, especially refugees. Never ever experienced that in Dahieh.

FDR was a politician playing war and deemed himself a naval expert due to granddaddy and his brief stint as asst secretary to the Navy. He ordered the fleet sent to Pearl Harbor over the protests of Admiral Kimmel and staff. FDR and co thought the initial blow would be the Philippine Islands, not Pearl and by staging the fleet at Pearl, it would send a 'message' that the PI were not to be fooled with as succor would follow rapidly.
It is an act of fate that had the Japanese not take out the oil farms at Pearl during the attack and that the carriers were off doing training.

I played for a while in an insanely complicated WWII War in the Pacific game - every boat, every pilot named and you have to sail supplies across the ocean on your own routed convoys. Puts the theatre into perspective, and you always need more shipping and engineers. I was in early 43 one day per turn.

I hope they shake out his pockets along with Chavez's daughter before they get rid of the trash. Chavez and Maduro have stolen billions from the people of Venezuela and both destroyed civil society and the economy in that country while looting it. Even the really old time Latin American caudillos did it better--they did not care much what the people did or said so long as you did not directly challenge the regime. They did far less damage than these modern Commie dictators who turn society and the economy into walking corpses.
Jeanne Kirkpatrick was right back in the day. There are dictators and then there are murderous thug Commie dictators that despoil everything they touch.

The Japanese got their asses kicked an Nonmonhan in Mongolia in a border dispute. They pushed aside light forces and stayed there until the Russians brought in reinforcements, artillery, and tanks and just crushed them. Samurai swords and courage didn't compensate.
After that they avoided getting involved with Russia. They should have done the same with the US because pretty much the same thing happened once the Americans got into production.
