The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

Iran is the progressive movement's favorite anti-American country, so it is no wonder that officials of the Biden/Obama junta are working diligently in its interest. And of course Chlamydia Harris takes her marching orders from the Obama minions sprinkled throughout the administration, so the fact that she has a "national security advisor" who is an Iranian lackey is not surprising. In reality, it would be surprising if there aren't more foreign-controlled apparatchiks in her offices.

Kamala’s NatSec Adviser Has Been Implicated In An Iranian Spy Ring Exposé.

Philip H. Gordon, Kamala Harris‘s national security advisor, appears to have concerning ties to an Iranian influence operation that has sparked a full investigation of the Biden-Harris government’s special envoy to Iran, Robert Malley.
In a letter on Wednesday, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) allege Gordan is tied to Ariane Tabatabai, a senior Defense Department official accused of participating in an Iranian influence operation.
“Before joining your office, Mr. Gordon co-authored at least three opinion pieces with Ms. Tabatabai blatantly promoting the Iranian regime’s perspective and interests,” Cotton and Stefanik’s letter states. It continues: “In a March 2020 piece, Mr. Gordon and Ms. Tabatabai claimed continued sanctions on Iran would create ‘catastrophe’ in the Middle East. In another, they wrote sanctions could lead to new Iranian efforts to ‘lash out with attacks on its neighbors, and on Americans and American interests in the Middle East.'”

It's vomit-inducing that the Obama wing of the Democrat/progressive movement in America is so rabidly against America that they embrace a country that has made the destruction of America a tenet of their national character. Iran has spent the last 45 years diligently killing Americans and our allies, undermining our efforts in every place where they have any influence, and supporting terrorism through its proxies in all corners of the world.

That Iran is considered even on the periphery of the world of nations is a testament to the post-modern view that all cultures and societies are of equal value and importance. In a more sane world, Iran would have been bombed into the stone age for its support of terrorism, and its Mad Mullah rulers killed or imprisoned. In fact, the people of Iran just needed a bit of support, and they would have done the job themselves, but that Democrat/progressive love of murder and mayhem protected the Mullahs at the expense of thousands of Iranian lives.

The world is left with tiny Israel to do the work that the West has refused to do. Hopefully the current administration is distracted enough to put Israel on the back burner while it works to subvert the will of the American people in the upcoming election. If Trump wins, then Israel once again will be the tip of the spear in the West's fight against totalitarian Islam. If Trump loses, the West and Israel will face existential issues in the coming four years, with the real prospect of atomic devices in the hands of a psychotic totalitarian regime hellbent on the destruction of Israel and the West.

There is a serious non zero chance of a nuclear exchange between minor players. Nearly happened in the 90's between India and Pakistan.

An unstable Iran getting the bomb will make things worse in the Middle East as the Saudis apparently have an agreement after financing the Pakistanis that their nukes would be available in an emergency (cough Iran). Then you have the Israelis with a substantial nuke force and more than one way to deliver them.

The main benefit of having strong leadership in government positions is the "buck stops here" mentality, that even with all the factions outside your office clamoring for you to do this or that, with all your toadies advising you, ultimately you make the decisions.

What we have now is a perversion of that, where the faces in various offices hold no real power, and the faceless are free to act in ways that are accountable to no one.

This administration has been a tower of babel, a psychotic pushing and pulling from different directions, often contradictory behavior, and ultimately foreign powers are taking advantage. Not because they're evil, but because they can... and why wouldn't they.

The israeli attack on the Houthis which took out their port was at a distance comparable to Israel to Iran. Planes had to be refueled midflight. The logistics are not as simple as they might seem if Iran's proxies are neutered.

An unstable Iran getting the bomb will make things worse in the Middle East as the Saudis apparently have an agreement after financing the Pakistanis that their nukes would be available in an emergency (cough Iran). I think the Israeli's are doing everything in their power to delay that event, but at some point I would assume all the money we just shoveled over to Iran would overwhelm their efforts. We know Iranian nuclear scientists are eliminated periodically, and most cyber security experts would tell you off the record that the Israelis probably can disrupt the computers supporting the nuclear program anytime they want to. Just not sure if that ability lasts forever.

Iran probably has enough enriched uranium from the last report to build a bomb or several fairly quickly. Then it is the delivery system that is the issue--Iran is stuck with missiles or the less safe sneak attack attempt (trucks, ships, etc. as the carrier).

In part, I think that Israeli assassinations also indicate to the mullahs that their innermost secrets are penetrated which makes the sneak attack scenario perilous as to be identified and stopped inviting retaliation.

Iran also has two achilles heels--Kharg Island could be bombed into oblivion and the other is the Abadan refinery. Take out the refinery and Iran's economy shuts down until repaired. The second has less international risk as the oil would still flow to places like China, Japan, India, etc.

It's the toned-down, TV-friendly version of a different word and I don't think it's working very well, at least outside the target audience. I don't know how well it's working within the target, because I'm not part of it. It is aimed levelly at Harris' biggest tranche of supporters: bitter, middle-aged women, especially those who are single or looking.

The word they probably *wanted* to use (but backed off for some reason) is "creep." A "creep" is any dude who asks you out, but whom you don't want. It's quite simple. I think it's to paint Vance as the kind of guy who would mortally offend these chicks he if approached at a bar.

Just a guess. The whole kerfuffle is so weird that I'm grasping at straws for a rational explanation.

You might be right. But there's an alternate theory that's the inverse of that. Vance is a good-looking, presentable, educated, rich guy. It's sort of an Adam Smith Invisible Hand argument. I think it has a lot going for it as a philosophy.

Bit of an overstatement. The truth is that Hamilton were a pure meritocrat in that he worked much harder, longer, and in several different arenas such as a damn good trial lawyer, an excellent aide de camp, apparently a brave soldier in the Yorktown campaign, a politician par excellence (outflanking a hostile Clinton at the NY ratifying convention), and an extremely competent Secretary of Treasury.

Madison was a theorist and sometimes politician that worked better under someone else than he did as head honcho. Jefferson knew when not to believe his own bullshit--Madison did not.

Madison also his ass handed to him when he tried to command the militia himself to defend DC as prezzie. Brave but incompetent.

But, Hamilton thought that involving people of property would ensure the success of the new republic far better than relying on the crowds of relatively ignorant and could point to the state of Rhode Island as an example of 'true democracy'.

Too late in most cases as ballot harvesting season begins in about 45 days or so and court cases since Covid have undermined a lot of the worst of public health rules. Fedgov won't get a say in it as the lockdowns were a state imposed matter, not federal.

Anyone that saw democracy in the raw after the Revolution ended but before the US Constitution came was going to be disillusioned. Even John Adams himself dropped the revolutionary belief of the morality of the crowd. Read his later Defense of the Constitutions of the United States and it is a pretty sober analysis of government after Adams was sadder and wiser in practical governance.

375 War with Iran is a terrible idea. Iran is about twice the size of Iraq, with mountainous terrain and a higher population. It has had decades to invest in its defense and has. Where Iraq circa 2003 had been weakened by the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980's, Desert Storm in the early 90's, and sanctions well into the aughts, the Iranians have had that same period of time investing in air defense. The waters surrounding Iran are very narrow, so Ukrainian style droning can seriously endanger our ships that enter the Persian Gulf.

The population hates the regime? Great. They hated Saddam too in Iraq, but that didn't stop the population from potshoting our troops over decades bleeding us of personal and billions of dollars. You're also ignoring that the mullahs were unpopular in 1980 too, but Saddam's invasion rallied the population to support the government, just as a hot war with us or Israel will do again.

Finally, there us no consideration being given to how this war could escalate. Turkey is making comments on intervening on Palestinians behalf and Russia/China would love to see us bogged down in the sandbox again.

But hey, Israel first, right?
