Facebook and Instagram Have Decided That Olympic Shooting Sports Are Dangerous and Glorify Violence

So no Olympic shooter can be shown with their guns.

Imagine Instagram blocking non-followers from seeing a post by Steph Curry because it featured a basketball, or a post from U.S. Olympic track star Noah Lyles that highlighted his running shoes. Absurd, right?

Yet that's exactly what happened to U.S. Paralympic athlete McKenna Geer, who was shadow banned by Meta after a post sharing her love of the shooting sports.
Earlier this month, Ms. Geer shared a photo on Instagram of the air rifle she used to qualify for the Paralympic Games. The company flagged the photo as out of line with its guidelines and informed her that nonfollowers wouldn't be able to view her account or content in Instagram's search, explore suggested users or similar features. "Our Recommendations Guidelines help to promote content that fosters a safe community on Instagram," Meta wrote in its explanation of why it wouldn't promote her account.
"I have always feared the day the media would censor my sport and speech just because I use firearms," Ms. Geer posted on Instagram on July 17. "That day has finally come." Meta initially blocked Ms. Geer's ability to appeal the decision, and her account remains shadow-banned while her appeal is under review with only a month to go before the competition. Meantime, the tech company is shielded from civil lawsuits under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
As USA Shooting board member Tim Rupli shares at the Wall St. Journal, Geer isn't the only competitive shooter to run afoul of Meta's ridiculous "community standards." U.S. Olympic shotgunner Conner Prince has been subjected to the same treatment, according to Rubli, who also shared that Facebook (another Meta property) "unpublished" the page belonging to the West Point Rifle Team "because Army West Point Rifle goes against our Community Standards."

I warned about this very thing on here the other day. We are going to see tons of polls showing harris either winning or tied with Trump, don't believe them. Give it a couple of weeks and then the polls of likely voters should start to settle out into real numbers.

Right now they are polling either adults or registered voters. There are very few likely voter polls out there right now as they take way more research and time to conduct.

That link that I use is free. I've always cut & pasted the X URL in the bar and hit enter and it either makes an unrolled thread or it tells me I have to sign in with an X account.

Sort of, if you squint. Lewis and Clark brought a lot of rifles with them, and a swivel gun, and muskets, but they also brought a then new Air Rifle that was a repeater. It took all day to pump up (air reservoir was the buttstock) though could shoot up to around 20 bullets effectively through 5 or 6 boards from a distance.

Since it didn’t need powder or flint, this puzzled the different Indian nations going up the Missouri, and they called it “big medicine”.

So there is that one time but he didn't have to put his eye on the table.

So someone poked fun at him and asked if he could predict who'd win, since he's such a mindreader. Then it snowballed from there.

It looked to me like an argument arising between people who probably agree, but were talking past each other, and tempers rising where there probably didn't need to be. I hope Quint takes a break and returns when he feels better.

Flamewars happen here, even among friends. You can poke bears or not. I love french toast with syrup, but I also love and respect CBD. So I am not going to purposely ever poke him about it.

There is a place outside of Georgetown Kentucky called Old Equine Friends where they send retired race horses literally out to pasture but I don't recall anyone of them ever reaching 50 years old.
