Good Morning Kids. If you are flying somewhere today, you might want to check the flight status before you head to the airport, per the lead item.

Of course the big story was the final night at the RNC, where Donald Trump gave an impassioned, and no doubt heartfelt speech about unifying the nation, mere days after an assassination attempt that was fomented by if not actually put in motion by elements within our own government and the lead elements of the Democrat Party itself, and still cheered on by far too many who support and vote for them election after election.

Just under a week after a failed attempt on his life, Trump took the RNC stage for his much-anticipated nomination acceptance speech. After barely dodging death on Saturday, Trump scrapped his entire speech and instead rewrote it himself, a Trump official told reporters ahead of the speech. Rather than heavily attacking the Biden administration, Trump wanted to focus on unity and use his near-death experience to bring the country together, the Washington Examiner first reported.
And so he did. A reflective and calm Trump closed out the RNC convention on Thursday, embracing unity and compassion during his emotional address. All throughout the weekend, attendees, delegates and speakers remarked how Trump was alive and in attendance because of divine intervention. The president agreed.
“I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God,” the president said, noticeably emotional like the delegates surrounding him on the convention floor. Trump told delegates that he shouldn’t be on the stage today, and they responded by drowning him out with chants of “yes you are.”
Trump told the story of that Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was “happily” giving a speech. Six minutes into that rally, gunshots came from beyond the crowd, leading Trump to grab his neck before ducking down behind the lectern. Secret Service agents rushed to cover Trump, but within moments he rose, face bloodied, and raised a fist in the air.
“Fight,” he told his fans.
While Trump recounted that story, the crowd broke out into “fight” chants as they had done throughout the week.
After paying tribute to the Lord for sparing his life, Trump led a moment of silence for former fire chief Corey Comperatore, who was fatally shot while attending the rally. Rolling out Comperatore’s firefighter jacket and helmet, Trump kissed the uniform and saluted the crowd.
The former president explained that more than $6 million had been raised for Comperatore’s family in the wake of his death, and that he would be donating $1 million himself.
From there, Trump used the tragedy to emphasize the political moment and call for not just a unified party, but a unified country.
“Our resolve is undoubted and our purpose is unchanged to deliver a government that serves the American people better than ever before,” Trump proclaimed. “Nothing will stop being in this vision because our vision is righteous and our thoughts pure, no matter what obstacle comes our way. We will not fret, we will not bend, we will not back down and I will never stop fighting for you, your family and our magnificent country.”

I admire and respect Donald Trump for myriad reasons. While unity is perhaps always a perpetual theme of most if not all speeches from nominees of both parties at every convention. The fact of the matter is that one side of this country does not want unity. They want absolute power and to create a country that runs contrary to the nation as founded, its heritage and history.

How do you get unity with that? You don't. You have to defeat it and wipe out the institutions that fuel the hatred and animosity that, were it not for perhaps Divine providence would have taken Trump's head off last Saturday instead of slicing his ear.

I suppose one cannot say this, especially in a speech accepting a presidential nomination, but that is the state play, as it has been now since years before Trump came down the Trump Tower escalator 9 years ago now.

"FIGHT!" indeed. But having the courage to articulate the aforementioned truth about the Democrat Left clearly and forthrightly and consistently is what is needed. For that he and we will always be called Hitler, fascists and anti-democratic, but that's the price you pay. Otherwise, you just cede the high ground and let them define the terms.

I also note with sadness, the passing of comedic legend Bob Newhart at 94. RIP.

Some good, if OT, news (I figure everyone can stand it). Miss Diana was Best of Winners at yesterday's Houston Kennel Club show for her second major win and her championship. She may now be styled Ch. Soyara's Dark Huntress.

Diana has been moved up to Best of Breed competition for the rest of the weekend and her sister Ruth will try to get her majors. And young Mr. Phoenix will make his ring debut today. We gave him a bath yesterday where he behaved very well.

Trump was targeting the small but vitally group of persuadable voters who will be deciding on whether to vote for him, whomever the Democrats roll out or nobody at all. Never Trumpers, establishment GOP, Independents, etc.. This was a RNC acceptance speech.

I sincerely doubt a guy who just took a bullet to the ear and who has been actually fighting against the corrupt deep state for 8 years at great personal cost to him and his family doesn't understand the threat from the left. I saw some lunatic being interviewed the other day in one of those man-on-the-streets. Just what you'd expect. Scrawny, old boomer with his little sun hat on his head, with the tie under the chin. He literally said Trump had staged it, and when the interviewer mentioned someone was actually killed, he said Trump didn't care if anyone was killed, as long as he got his staged "moment."

That sounds a bit Pauline Kaelish to me. The few remaining centrist Democrats are still Democrats and if you are still a Democrat now after all the shit the radicals running the party have done over the last decades I question if you were ever persuadable to vote anything but Democrat.

Let's see how it plays out on people other than those who were sitting next to you. It wasn't one of my favorite speeches but other than being too long I thought it was fine. There are still a lot of Independent votes to get.

I have believed from the moment they happened that Putin ordered that done. It was 4 apartment buildings destroyed simultaneously in 4 areas of Moscow (iirc) and survivors at the time (before they were eliminated) said they hadn’t seen any chechens, but there had been crews of white suited Russian techs working in the basements the weak prior. Oh he is popular in Russia, I’ve no doubt.
He may have lost a bit of support over the death toll in Ukraine and the complete disaster the Russian military turned out to be in the first several months, though.

There was a brief sliver of time where Russia could’ve been made an ally. Putin was, early on as president, offering for Russia to join NATO, and all he got was some scaled back Friend/Observer role in the alliance which fell apart when Russi invaded South Ossetia & Georgia.

But, if we had actually allowed Russia in at that time the world would be a very different place right now.

Putin tried to move closer to the West but was rebuffed at every opportunity by the Cold Warriors in DC.

CS is issuing workarounds and is working to release an update to 'correct' the issue, but I haven't seen anything on a timeline for that. My DC is stating that they're implementing the suggested workaround and bringing in more security staff in the meantime.

It's a real mess. You need physical access to each affected computer, and if the drive is encrypted, you need the encryption key as well.

Heard from one admin who had the server with all the encryption information taken out by this problem, which required some fancy tapdancing to recover.

Except most systems to be mostly back within a day, but some problems will linger for a week.

I've seen three predictions: Biden drops out and demands an open convention, Biden drops out but crowns Kamala his successor (this was from Erickson), and Biden is digging in his heels.

All of these are mutually exclusive. They can't all be true. No two of them can be true. Only one of the three can be true (they can all be false).

Regarding the leak with the open convention talk, I feel like this is a deal that the Bidens said that they would agree to in order to get people off their back, but it's such a bad, stupid, horrendously awful idea that they thought no one would take it up. An open convention? Giving a foothold for anyone to come in and sweep it from Kamala, who is deeply unpopular? Who in their right mind would agree to that?

The uniformity of Biden declining from now to election day is better than the chaos of that choice.

Erickson's prediction feels nonsensical, but he seemed assured. I dunno.

And Biden digging in his heels? Complete with affirmation from campaign staff? Feels about right.

This was the worst in a loooong line of evil, desperate attempts by our regime to destroy Donald Trump.

Every person in the Secret Service responsible for coordinating Trump's murder must feel like a chicken that got stuck in a tractor's nuts.

And, I don't think Killer Beavis had any direct role in that effort, or had to be "tipped off," or anything like that.

I think the Secret Service was simply ordered to leave gaping holes in security at every event until nature took its course in the form a crazed NPC, somewhere.

I can buy it. I'm not invested in any particular explanation.

I've just seen one too many intentional and planned ops for one lifetime. They're all in the last 8 years, they all targeted Trump in some way, they were all conducted by the same group of people, they were all very obvious from jump and got worse and worse the more we learned, and they deny every single one to this day.

I think the big hole in the protection was not sealing-off the area around the AGR buildings, and requiring screening to get to those buildings.

I think he tried to enter in inner protective zone with rangefinder, without rifle. When he was stopped at an entry point because rangefinder he was turned away - and free to roam the area around AGR buildings. SS asked local LE to observe him but they lost him.

Rifle? I'm thinking it was not in a hard or soft sided rifle case. In a big backpack, upper separated from lower so it would fit. Piece of cake to pull those two assemblies out and quickly put them together. He went and got that rifle-containing backpack when he was ready to make his move to get on the roof.
