Well! And I paused to alert the others!
Evening and morning to everybody! 'Tis Friday, the consummation devoutly to be wished. As I said on the ONT, nearly 1400 comments? The next few months on the HQ are not going to be only lit, they will be fusion fire enough to power a General Products starship! I got enough sleep last night, or mostly, and now I have to decide whether to go work out in improved conditions compared to earlier this week. Still nasty, you understand, just less nasty. It rained yesterday p.m. (I had to wade in ankle-deep water to my car, which was okay) and stayed cloudy until dark, so we got no evening superheating. Also-- although it sometimes snows enough to be a hassle, it doesn't *usually* stick for very long. No tornadoes. No hurricanes. Our biggest risk here is grass/brush fires, and the smoke, due to combo of tinder-dry conditions and lightning (or human carelessness) although we personally have never had to evacuate. A nice verse from Psalm 17 vs 7:
7 Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. And this is what a note in the life application Bible says about that verse: Our life circumstances may question us as to whether we are living up to God's standards for us. Like David, we can ask God to show his love to us. If life seems bleak or overwhelming , ask God to remind you of his love for you today. His reminder may come from a friend , a song you hear, the beauty of creation, or a Bible verse he brings to your mind. When you recognize it as a way God has chosen to communicate with you, and thank him for this sign of his love Posted by: FenelonSpoke at July 19, 2024 06:21 AM (E45hQ) 104

Okay, I'm running a little ahead of schedule, but I need to stop at the ATM -- if it's working, of course. Maybe I can knock off early this p.m.
Last night Miss Linda had me watching Rogue One, the Star Wars film (a prequel to the events in the original 1977 film, right?). Aside from everything being dim, orangish, or grayish, and the lack of originality (just how many of the SW plots have revolved around the Death Star?), it seems pretty decent. Wolfus, Rogue One was probably the last decent Star Wars movie made.
The prequel to Rogue One is the TV series “Andor” which is filmed in much the same way and has the same kind of atmosphere. It’s probably the best TV series that Disney has made other than “The Mandalorian” Seasons 1 & 2. All on DisneyPlus. My cable internet link has been intermittent for the past couple of days. Don't think it has anything to do with Crowdsource. My cable modem keeps losing lock. I suspect an intermittent grounding problem, on the cable to my house.

San Franpsycho, I’m amazed you’ve kept up with your kindergarten friends this long.
I can barely remember kindergarten much less my friends there. Glad you’re having a great time back east though.. Watch out for that heat & humidity, I know it can be rough on you Northern Cali types. Posted by: SpeakingOf at July 19, 2024 06:38 AM (6ydKt) 124

And as far as the woman who gave a Hindu prayer at the RNC, it doesn't bother me. I didn't give my opinion yesterday because things can get uhhh ratherc contentious here and sometimes it's exhausting. I respect people of good will and good people of a variety of religious faiths. I don't have to have the same religious views they do to listen to them. Besides there is so much Christianity expressed at the RNC that I don't mind a Hindu prayer. What I WOULD mind is if someone who was a Satanist wanted to give a prayer because I am opposed to Satan, but I find it difficult to imagine a person at the RNC worshipping Satan

An update to a product from infosec vendor CrowdStrike is bricking computers running Windows.
The Register has found numerous accounts of Windows 10 PCs crashing, displaying the Blue Screen of Death, then being unable to reboot. “We're seeing BSOD Org wide that are being caused by csagent.sys, and it's taking down critical services. I'll open a ticket, but this is a big deal,” wrote one user. Posted by: SMOD at July 19, 2024 07:40 AM (JUFsJ) 131
You cannot have unity with people who want you dead, I believe that with everything in me.
I did not hear one ounce of giving up any policy positions from Trump however to appease our enemy however. And nor should he. The ravening beasts on the left will likely reject unity his call for unity but Trump stands on the moral high ground in making it. Posted by: redbanzai at July 19, 2024 08:55 AM (JOR6L) 132
I had that fitbit charge. Immediately after a firmware update this year it started discharging from 100% to 0 in about half an hour. And some of it's sensors were failed. Useless. And their solution was for me to buy a new one with a 20% off, "sorry our company sucks now" coupon. Nah bro, I'll pass.

An awful lot of people should be fired for this. I don't know at what point everyone just forgot the foundational skill of testing all updates in an isolated environment before rolling out to production. There's zero excuse for this. Zero.
>Rogue One was probably the last decent Star Wars movie made _Rogue One_ is a Bush-era no-war-for-oil screed. I was playing Code Pink Bingo while watching and filled my card half an hour in. Add in the completely dissonant pandering to the Chinese audience and I cannot fathom why this film is so admired.
