Adam Schiff Calls for Biden to Withdrawal, Citing "Serious Concerns" That Biden Can't Win

I thought, wrongly, that the Dump Biden movement was over and we could all just enjoy ourselves. It's not over. They are going to fight for at least the next two weeks, until the "virtual nomination."

Adam Schiff, the rancid propagandist, is the "most prominent" congressman to call for Biden's withdrawal so far.

Rep. Adam Schiff on Wednesday became the most prominent elected Democrat to publicly call on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race.
The announcement by Schiff, who is running for US Senate in California, makes him the first Democrat to urge Biden to step aside since the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump over the weekend.
"While the choice to withdraw from the campaign is President Biden's alone, I believe it is time for him to pass the torch. And in doing so, secure his legacy of leadership by allowing us to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election," Schiff said in a statement.

Schiff praised Biden's legacy in his statement but added, "our nation is at a crossroads."

The vile, scheming Coupist Schiff of course took the opportunity to #RaiseTheTemperature of the discourse and claim Trump is an unbearable threat to Muh Precious Democracy:

"A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November," he continued.

Biden stupidly adds oxygen to this fire by stating he would in fact withdraw, if his doctors told him too.

Telling your enemies there's a chance of their victory encourages them in their fight.

Weird that this "foreign policy expert" doesn't understand that simple rule.

President Biden said in a new interview that he would consider dropping out if he was diagnosed with a "medical condition" by doctors -- giving his clearest sign yet of faltering in his insistence he will seek a second term.
The 81-year-old president made the remark in a BET interview taped Tuesday when asked what it would take to prompt him to reconsider his candidacy.
"If I had some medical condition that emerged, if somebody, if doctors came to me and said, you got this problem and that problem," Biden said in an excerpt released Wednesday.
Biden thus far has refused to consider retiring despite a groundswell of concern from Democrats that his unsteady, confused debate performance on June 27 sets him on track for a landslide loss on Nov. 5 against former President Donald Trump, the 78-year-old Republican nominee.

Below, a quote from the call Biden had with Democrat congressmen, I believe on Saturday, before the failed assassination attempt.

Biden's nasty comment, I've read it reported, caused people on the call to "gasp."

I know his comment makes no damn sense. I've been trying to figure out what it means for a couple of hours. I give up.

But you have to read it in Biden's sneering, shouting Angry Dementia Patient voice. Then you can see that whatever this statement was supposed to specifically mean, it was some kind of sneer about a Bronze Star winner's service, and how he has done nothing with that Bronze Star, unlike... you guessed it, Beau Biden.

Not only does Joe Biden use Beau Biden as a way to shut down any questions at all, but there's a lot of Stolen Valor going on: Joe Biden speaks as if he himself won the Bronze Star, instead of his son.

He takes that tone of "Do not question me, I'm a Bronze Star winning veteran," apparently believing that if any member of his family is a veteran, he's a veteran by proxy.

Nate Silver and Jamie Harrison (head of the DNC) were fighting on Twitter all day yesterday.

Mostly, Silver was saying that they had until the convention, and Harrison was saying that they had to do it on 8/7. The problem is that Silver is right, and that Ohio passed the exemption so that the DNC is the actual deadline, two weeks later.

The DNC is all in on pushing for Joe. If they delay the vote, then maybe the bottom is falling out.

I don't see it that way, though. Until we hear about the change of schedule, I assume this is Schiff trying to lay claim to leadership within the party post-Biden. There's no hope of getting him to drop. They've given up on the presidential race. They want to reign in Hell now.

25th is easily countered by a conscious Biden (read the amendment, it's a series of letters that all get undone by a letter from Biden to Congress saying he's alright).

But, even if they somehow do it, it doesn't change the fact that the Party rules give Biden the nomination because he has the most delegates.

Sure, the DNC can break rules to take that from Biden. But, they'd be doing it over Biden's objections...pissing off many people in the process. It's literal suicide 3 months out from an election.

His clout is that he's president and won the vast majority of delegates during the Democrat Primary.

Only he can give that up. No one can take those from him. Hell, even if Congress decided to very quickly impeach and convict him, they'd have to bar him from office again (which would be constitutional), and that'd be a nuclear bomb against Democrats thrown by Democrats themselves.

I was listening to a brit talk about the Tory's collapse in the last election. His point was that the Tories didn't have anything like primaries, but traditionally had the party in local regions (boroughs?) choose their own candidate to run, and this turned into a central party demand that "only a-list candidates could be chosen" with an increasingly exclusive criteria as to what an a-lister was. In recent years this meant a candidate that had specific ethnic, or other diversity markers instead of, you know, competence.
The Dems seem to be discovering why this sort of process is not optimal as well

All the talk is just for Biden to step down. There doesn't seem to be much consensus on who should replace him. If they all suddenly march lockstep to Kamala (which would be the easiest and most obvious thing), then they have...Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate.

That does not help them.

And, if cheating is assured, then the top of the ticket doesn't matter. They can win with anyone. However, replacing the top of the ticket at the convention after the primary is a huge risk, makes cheating even harder, and is an opening for chaos. Is that worth it if Biden's just likely to keel over next year and Kamala just smoothly takes over then?

There is a lot of stupid details about military awards, not being able to award the Meritorious Service Medal to troops through much of the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, etc. Suffice to say, the Bronze Star became the standard award for many Field Grade (Major and above) officers, and captains commanding companies (how I got mine).

To get it for gallantry in combat, you get the Bronze Star with "V" device, a little silver "V" on the ribbon, denoting "valor". This distinction didn't exist in the past.

The Submarine Force was issuing Bronze Stars to attack boat skippers just for launching tomahawk strikes during desert storm and the following global war on terrorism "war".

He was double digits underwater on everything from the economy to the border to crime and on and on. I've been coming around to the idea - I think suggested here, but also on X-22 - of a second shooter.

I noted it immediately in the comments at the time, and everybody said to "put your pants on" as we'd be getting visitors.

561 4 motorcycle/motorcade cops from Pittsburgh were also wounded at the rally...shrapnel or splatter, treated at the scene, one has since gone to a clinic to have it checked out. Two of those cops have been removed from duty for working that event rather than Dr.Jills.
People seem to be confused about trajectory and where the wounded were. The shooter was off to stage right, there were bleachers behind Trump...out of the line of fire. Bleachers on both left and right of the stage. Dead firefighter was in the closest bleachers to the shooter, stage right, was hit from behind, wounded cops were by that set of bleachers, though on ground level other wounded were in the other bleachers, stage left, bullets that had missed Trump, cleared the stage hit them....as well as the crane nearby holding up the speaker stack. Hit a hydraulic lines, made a yuuuge plume of spray and the speakers dropped about 15 feet, until the extend a beam hit it 1st stage mechanical stops.

Basically if you were in the crowd facing the stage the bullets passed lft>Right, well above ground level. in what appears to be about a six foot wide path.
