Saturday Night Humor

A sardonic senior might say. . .

As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I’m responsible for what I say, not what you understand.

Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most never use it.

My tolerance for idiots is extremely low these days. I used to have some immunity built up, but obviously there's a new strain out there.

It’s not my age that bothers me; it’s the side effects.

I’m not saying I’m old and worn out, but I make sure I’m nowhere near the kerb on bin day.

As I watch this generation try and rewrite our history, I'm sure of one thing: It will be misspelled and have no punctuation.

Me, sobbing: "I can't see you anymore. . . I'm not going to let you hurt me again."
My Trainer: "It was one sit-up.”

As I’ve got older, people think I’ve become lazy. The truth is I’m just being more energy efficient.

I haven't done anything today. I've been in the Produce Department trying to open this stupid plastic bag.

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Turns out that being a "senior" is mostly just googling how to do stuff.

I want to be 18 again and ruin my life differently. I have new ideas.

God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the world. Then he made the earth round. . and laughed and laughed and laughed.

I'm on two diets. I wasn't getting enough food on one.

I put my scales in the bathroom corner and that's where the little liar will stay until it apologizes.

My mind is like an internet browser. At least 19 open tabs, 3 of them are frozen, and I have no clue where the music is coming from.

Hard to believe I once had a phone attached to a wall, and when it rang, I picked it up without knowing who was calling.

Apparently RSVPing to a wedding invitation "Maybe next time" isn't the correct response.

She says I keep pushing her buttons. If that were true, I would have found mute by now.

So you’ve been eating hot dogs and McChickens all your life, but you won’t take the vaccine because you don’t know what’s in it. Are you kidding me?

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumb-ass.

There is no such thing as a grouchy old person. The truth is that once you get old, you stop being polite and start being honest.

Greetings, Mis Hum ... There's a gentleman by the name of Mark Bland who posts dozens of REELS on Facebook which he obviously creates with his wife's input ... Not sure if any of the material is suitable for your AOC threads, but watching them should generate some chuckles ... I have a wonderful husband and all my children were boys so -- for the record -- I definitely am NOT a fan of "guys are dumb" stuff ... But I found myself appreciating this couple's unique method for sparking discussions, so decided to pass it along ... Below are two examples.

Enjoy, ........(Name withheld to protect the innocent)

The ONT Is Always Looking Out For YouTM. If it sounds too good to be true. If it sounds too bad too be true. More than likely someone is attempting to scam you. I haven't had one of these contacts in some time. But, when I did I would tell them I would meet them at the County Court house so they could serve me papers there. I was never taken up on the offer.

JUNE 23--In an audacious and heartbreaking scheme, a pair of elderly Floridians were swindled out of $400,000 in gold bars by a phone fraudster who claimed that the victims were facing arrest due to illegal activity in their respective Amazon accounts, according to court records.

Last month, a 78-year-old Jensen Beach resident called police to report that he had been bilked out of $154,000 after receiving a call from a man claiming to be an Amazon representative.

After being told about purported fraud on his account, the victim was transferred to a “Brian Alba,” who said he was “an agent with the US Government and that based on the activity there were several warrants out for his arrest.”

46 I could swear, maybe I’m misremembering, Biden during his rare campaign said he would or could step down after one term. Recall he was calling or introducing Harris as the president at the time.

Always just assumed they were going to pull the ole switcharoo at the opportune time. Is that what is happening here? Is this an opportune time? Beats me.

Note Hur said in 23 he was too far gone to prosecute or be held responsible. That might have been a good time. He’s got to step down if you think about it from certain perspective. He isn’t fit to run for re-election, how is he fit to be president?

Leftists of course are being brought up to speed just why exactly it is candidates and funds aren t interchangeable meatsticks.

70 Kamala will not stand down, Kamala will not get out of the way. If Biden drops out they have to go with Kamala as the nominee. She's so bad that if she's the only option, then they might as well stick it out with Biden.

The reason Kamala will not drop out - the prize of being First Female President is better than anything anyone can ever offer her. Costello- I'm a union man, I work 16 hours a day.
McDougal- Union men only work eight hours a day.
Costello- I belong to two unions.

Typical Mandela Effect warnings apply, it might have been some other character than McDougal that Lou was talking to, and it might have been some other Abbot and Costello flick that the line comes from, though that's doubtful because Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein is the only of their ouvre that I remember viewing. (The title is a bit of a misnomer, be cause they meet Frankenstein's monter, not the scientist himself.) I think I am now out of tangents.

I think her popularity for elected office is wildly overblown. The woman has never held a real job let alone run for office. Yea, she gets big applause for speaking on the rubber chicken circuit where she is completely inconsequential but she's never really faced on scrutiny or had any real responsibilities.

Aviation:

3/4 oz lemon juice
2 tsp maraschino liqueur
1 tsp creme de violette

Shake with ice, serve in a cocktail glass.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry if you want one. The good kind, not the day-glo fruitcake kind.

Seriously, they have no downside, no October Surprises to worry about and no inconvenient Twitter / X histories to overcome or embarrassing family members. You can tell any special interest group that of course "Candidate to Named Later" supports their position. And it is pretty difficult to campaign against Candidate to be Named Later if you can't name a specific problematic position. And, should they win, you can hold an auction for the job and rake in the dough, or just go Hell in the Cell and the first actual human out of the cage takes the office, put it on pay-per-view and still rake in the cash.

NOT 'with each other', the 2 candidates

Correct. So the CA electors could cast their votes for Harris for P but not for Newsom for VP (or vice versa). Meaning that the Harris/Newsom ticket would need to win nationally with a margin of at least however many electoral votes CA represents. I suppose in theory we could wind up with a President Harris and a Vice President Burgum. Which could be hilarious.

240 40 The early timing of the debate supports that theory.

It would be interesting to know who in the DNC pushed for an early debate.

Of course, a problem with that theory is that there is no obvious replacement.

Kamala? Please.

Hillary? Please.

Newsom? Straight white male.

Moochelle? Doesn't want the job.

Whitmer, et. al? Who?
Posted by: The ARC of History! at June 29, 2024 09:33 PM (uxCna)

It does, but I still say that Biden isn't going anywhere. For instance, what happens to all the money he's raised so far? I believe that it can only go to the VP. I also think that there are at least two states where it's too late to take Biden off the ballot.

Posted by: Darrell Harris at June 29, 2024 10:35 PM (8OtjS)

241 Serious problem with trying to replace Biden. It is no longer possible to put any other name on the ballot in WI and NV, unless he dies.

Even if he were to withdraw, the window is closed.

Between now and August it becomes impossible in a number of other states.

Also the delegates are pledged to Biden on the first ballot unless the rules committee changes and they are all Biden loyalists.

He would have to quit, release delegates, and then get to 270+ without WI and NV.

If current polling is accurate then Biden is going to lose both of them anyway. Along with all of the swing states and now the Trump camp is claiming state like VA are in play.

I think the problem is a lot bigger. If Biden stays on the ticket this could be a very bad year for Congressional Democrats. Polls taken since the debate show Biden bleeding support and it's not going to get better, only worse.

The next move that Trump should make is ask everyone the question: if Biden needed a week at Camp David to put up an effort like he did on Thursday, is he really running the country? And how long did the MSM know about this condition?

I saw a clip from an interview that Bob Woodward gave with Ari Melber from MSDNC. He's outraged that Biden's team had him out there debating in the condition he was in. 285 New conspiracy theory (DC Draino):

Now that the dust has settled, here’s what I believe happened with the debate:

The war between Biden machine & the Obama machine spilled into the open

Democrat leaders on both sides are truly panicking about Biden’s crashing poll numbers

Biden knows if he’s out of power, his crime family will be prosecuted and disgraced and Jill Biden has gotten way to used to the lifestyle - she won’t give it up

Obama team knows their mafia operation will be prosecuted under Trump as well

So both sides are desperate and fighting over whose strategy is best to beat Trump

Obama machine launched a final sneak attack to pressure Joe to drop out after the debate that they knew he would be awful in

It didn’t work

Biden met with Obama the next day, made clear he wasn’t quitting, and now Obama machine puppets are all backtracking, including Obama himself

It’s now clear that Biden controls the DNC machine while Obama controls the media machine

The Democrat machine as a whole is begrudgingly unifying behind Biden in hopes that he can pull it off

I probably saved one's life today.

I take care of my elderly mother...late 80's. She always talks with her friend in town. Today around 3pm, Mom called. Ruby answered. Told Mom 'I've fallen.. I can't get up!' Seriously.

I was about to jump into the shower. My Mom called me and said she was on the phone with Ruby, she fell, couldn't get up. And then the phone went silent.

Crap. We tried calling her 'kids'. Mom's friend is nearing 90. No one is answering.

I know where a daughter works. Small town. Race there. Run in and ask if she's there. Nope day off. Tell them the story. Tell them to try to contact her.

Go to the house. Very small town. Literally a minute. Doors locked. Didn't want to ring the bell because if she was on the ground, I didn't want to wind her up.

Went home quickly. 3 minutes away. Ask Mom if she got hold of any of the kids. Nope. Damn!

Drove back to the house. Called 911. Explained the situation. They tell me they'll send paramedics and police.

Wait a few minutes. Paramedics arrive. Flag them down. They park. Explain the situation. Can't go in until the police arrive which takes about three more minutes.

Originally known as Hi-Catoctin, Camp David was built as a retreat for federal government agents and their families by the Works Progress Administration. Construction started in 1935 and was completed in 1938. In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt converted it to a presidential retreat and renamed it "Shangri-La", after the fictional Himalayan paradise. Camp David received its present name in 1953 from President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in honor of his father and his grandson, both named David.

Agreed. Imagine you're Joe. In 2020, the Dem Establishment begged him to run to prevent Bernie from getting the nomination, leading to electoral annihilation. He does it, and they pull him over the finish line. That Joe Biden says to the Establishment that he's pulled their chestnuts out of the fire once - now it's time for him to get his. Tough noogies.

No, Joe's staying right where he is. He's dead after this run anyway, so he's got nothing to lose.

You are correct. So if the ticket was Harris/Newsom (or vice versa) the electors from Washington could vote for both of them but the electors from California could not.

We went through this a few times in the last go-round with people who wanted a Trump/DeathSantis ticket. You're giving up the Florida electors (for VP) unless Trump moves, so you get Trump/Harris if Trump wins. o_O

319 Police try the doors and walk around the house. Notice an open window with a screen on the side of the house.

It wasn't opened much. I was the smallest, but not the skinniest but I volunteered to go in. Brought over a bench. Skinny dude opened the window went inand opened the front doors.

Ruby was on the ground but propped up by an arm. Good sign. They asked how she was. Her standard response 'Old and bitchy!'

I called Mom. We gave the police all the contact info. Mom explained Ruby's medical history, which included 3 stenst after a stroke....after all the Covid Jabs....which I never mentioned.

They put her in a chair. Kept asking questions. I told them her speech was slurred. "Anything else you notice?", they asked.

Yeah, one side of the face seems droopy.

Told them I was with my late father right when he had his stroke. We were at a produce place, discussing the price of carrots, he made a math mistake which REALLY hit me because Dad was 90 but incredible at math. Went into line to pay, he froze up. I took the credit card, payed and we were moving to the car. He stumbled, but someone helped me get him into the car. I was going to get him to a hospital. Asked him questions.

331 Thought I have been noodling on the last day.

The people who lost their minds Thursday night was the media. We all thought it was a coup, might even have been one, but Obama coming out the next day laid down the law for the Democrats, Biden is going to be the nominee.

But the Media isn't really Democrats. They are creatures of DC, so they are Deep State, not Democrats. They are aligned and we often think they are the same, but they really aren't.

So I think this is Deep State deciding Biden can't win, and they are knifing him. A couple tidbits make me think that.

1) An Axios backstab about Michele dropped on Thursday morning. I thought it was Obama team originally, but maybe not.

2) Pompeo's bizarre statement he was ready to work in the next Trump admin. He is totally Deep State.

Could be Deep State is planning to burrow deep for 4 years and try to survive, and is tossing Biden to the side. Hell, they may actually be worried that Biden is really going to start WW3.

346 His speech suddenly got really slurred. I pulled into a store, ran in, told the, my Dad was having a stroke, call 911. They came and he passed away a week later.

And Ruby had the same symptoms. As they continued to question her, the slurring became worse and she became more unresponsive. The paramedics took her out and put her in the ambulance.

I told her to get better soon because our dog Barky needs her to give him treats. She recognized me, but seriously, I thought that was the last time I was ever going to see her alive.

I came home and tried to contact the kids again. Nothing! What the hell. Mom knows where they live. Got in the car, went to the beer store to get my five beers for tonight, drove out in the country 10 minutes to Bill's house. Knocked. Dog's went wild. No amswer. Went out back, yelled around. Nothing.

Mom kind of knew where her daughter lived. Went to the street to the house my thought she lived. Lady answered. Asked for Lydia. She points to the next house. Guy outside, kind of out of it.. Not there. Next house. No answer. Didn't think it was the next house but God made Mom tell me to try.

Rang the doorbell. Nothing. God has Mom tell me to try the backyard.

New: Inside the White House, there are sometimes two Biden’s.
America saw the other one Thursday.
My look inside the WH & why Thursday left some Biden aides shaken & worried whether Biden can do another 4-year term
axios.com https://t.co/pkxAn1s3y4
From 10am to 4pm, Biden is dependably engaged & many of his public events in front of cameras are held within those hours
Outside of that time range or while traveling abroad, the other Biden is more likely to emerge & have verbal miscues & become fatigued, aides say

WH’s response: there "is one Biden, who works his heart out fighting for families like the one he grew up in in Scranton,& who, because of his determination, experience & decency, keeps achieving unprecedented results for them"
WSJ also reports: "Biden’s performance & focus can vary significantly between meetings & even w/i a meeting. Senior European officials cited a EU-US summit in October in Washington at which Biden struggled to follow the discussions"

Especially since the IRS case needs to resolve before he can be pardoned.

The thing that honestly confuses me is why the media freaked out on Thursday. Everyone knows they can't dump Biden and he can't quit. I figured they would keep trying to gaslight.

'Your Mom had a stroke!'

'Oh shit!

'We tried calling over and over,'

I started to tell her the story but she wanted to shower and get to the hospital. Obviously.

Get several calls from both daughters. Ruby was at the hospital, responsive, answering questions and doing well.

And the Canadian healthcare system was going to race her to a larger city for emergency surgery.

They stopped by the house and noticed something burning on the stove. The police never noticed it. I passed through the kitchen to help secure the house. Nothing burning at the time.

So we caught Ruby pretty quickly after all crap broke losse.

Just had a call from her son.. They removed a blood clot from her multiply jabbed brain but there was no new damage.

So great news!

379 LBJ's decision was because he didn't think he could win, or so I thought. (I was 8, so no real idea).

Biden would be resigning because of diminished capacity, which would bring a lot of pressure to admit he can't do the job now and shouldn't be President.

I suspect much of that pressure would come from Team Harris.

Hmm, could she be behind all of this?

386 Also, our wonderful dear neighbours and friends across the street, who all of you would love, have cats.

Snowflake is pregnant. Probably by her brother Trumpy, but that's such a Biden thing. No name changes...

Cat was missing and last time seen, very near to giving birth.

Our friend is helping with house renovations, driving me to drink and long post...

I brought something outside for him. Wanted to check the cat house to see if Snowflake came back. Went across the street. The cats come out to greet me since I take care of them.

I pet and tell Trumpy that I'm there to see if his sister wife is home. Look in the house. No cat. Turn around. There she is in the middle of the yard. Alerted my friend's wife, also my friend.

No more contractions but ready to give birth soon.

Those are my stories of life and death today as I process everything through beer. But not too many.

413 AP: A private call of top Democrats fuels more insider anger about Biden’s debate performance
https://tinyurl.com/yeffzs59
A sense of concern is growing inside the top ranks of the Democratic Party that leaders of Biden’s campaign and the DNC are not taking seriously enough the impact of the president’s troubling debate performance.
DNC Chairman held a Saturday afternoon call with dozens of committee members across the country, a group of some of the most influential members of the party. He did not acknowledge Biden’s weak showing
Multiple committee members on the call, most granted anonymity to talk about the private discussion, described feeling like they were being gaslighted — that they were being asked to ignore the dire nature of the party’s predicament. The call, they said, may have worsened a widespread sense of panic among elected officials, donors and other stakeholders.
Harrison offered what they described as a rosy assessment of Biden’s path forward. The chat function was disabled and there were no questions allowed.

The media freaked out because, for a brief shining moment, it became clear to the American Public that the media are indeed the enemy of the people. They foisted a man into the most powerful position in the world who is incapable of speaking, much less leading. They covered him for years and exposed this country to unspeakable insults - starting with Afghanistan - that leave us open to attack by our enemies and ridicule by our friends.

I don't like but understand Biden's handlers who would pull every lever to remain in power. I absolutely loathe the media. If I had the ability to destroy them, I would to start over with something new. I don't.

I do have the ability to ignore them and stop watching them, which will have the same effect.

That's right. I was just relying on my memory of it.

The DEMs screwed Wallace so that most of the "Wallace delegates" from MI weren't actually for Wallace.

The DEM party corrected that before 1972, by letting the candidate select his/her own delegates.

But as someone who lived during that time period and saw the folks that made up Wallace's base, as well as the KKK-centric members of his campaign and staff (Asa Carter, anyone?), I can only say that Sixties and Seventies Wallace was a contemptible person.

Wallace did well by many of Alabama's citizens during his terms as Governor - I'll go even further in saying that the hospital wing he helped to endow at UAB provided my father with the life-saving surgery that allowed him to survive long enough to see and enjoy his first grandson.

Cutting him some slack as I do above, there is a toxicity that not all the men and women in this region shared. As a parallel, take the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission - a state-run organization that collected intelligence on anyone who took any steps to combat racism. They provided intel to the Ku Kluxers that murdered Schwerner, Goodman, and Chaney, as well as tips on avoiding FBI scrutiny. Both Mrs. Drake and I have family members whose names were in the files of the Sovereignty Commission, and to us it's a badge of honor to have family that refused to accept Southern-Fried Apartheid rule.

When I get a spam call, I ask, "How can I help you today?"

Just so you know, spam callers don't decide who they call or what they say. Those decisions are made by their bosses. The actual callers are simply pressured to make X calls per shift and possibly what exactly to say. They are either handed a list of numbers or calls are made for them. I have heard that the more advanced systems call three or more numbers at once and route any pickup to a human automatically. You can make the human caller miserable maybe, although if they have been doing it for any length of time nothing will really bother them as they don't expect any real result, and it won't change a thing about the future. The only thing that MAY happen is that if you never answer your number MAY be purged from the call list.

48 hours later:

Joe Biden is furiously trying to hang on to his candidacy;

Kammie is starting to do just a bit more than hover off-stage, and there's some noise about her becoming the nominee;

... and more than a few D players are looking at and talking about "Nancy Pelosi's Nephew" as The Replacement Nominee.

I do not hear about any other potential nominees, and I think there's no time to locate one that enough Ds wil support without a major fight. I expect a major fight, at least on par with Chicago 68.

Joe seems to be amped-up, perhaps dangerously. Will he survive at this level for 30 days? I predict an "event" ... then we have Kammie. Magical.

Kammie is, well, we've seen her Word Salad Oratory. She's about as strong as Joe in debates. Best case. Discussing the way she got her jobs ... I expect her to freak (Well, she did, but ...)

This leaves "Nancy Pelosi's Nephew".
