27 presented as evidence a song they produced which sounds suspiciously like Johnny B. Good.

This predicate is particularly lame since Chuck Berry's riffs plus the public domain 12 bar blues form were the basis, pauses, does some math, smokes some weed, the majority of 50s and 60s Rock and Roll. Example: Brian Wilson became legend rewriting Chuck Berry songs with a surfer theme.

This whole cockup is something I have been thinking about for sometime. Can AI, assuming AI becomes profoundly good, ever generate wholly new styles of art or is it constrained to being imitative. Alternatively, what happens to the value of art in the age of ubiquitous (AI) masterpieces? For now, likely always, the human mind is innately gifted with making fresh creative leaps or inferring wholly original ideas from existing information while AI, it seems, is constrained by the unyielding past, its model. In the end, this music industry lawsuit is pointless since AI can never an artist, only a process. How does that infringe? What will be interesting is when artists start using AI creations in the manner the modern pop music samples for new works. Will the AI companies then sue the artist for infringement?

34 Evening and morning to all the early risers and late toilers!

Pixy, I must say . . . the image of *anyone*, let alone Julian Assange, fighting an echidna . . . that will haunt the corridors of my mind for a very long time. Kudos.

My only memorable dream-part from last night: I had stepped out of a kitchen into a back yard or wide alley after some Important Person, maybe a president (or even Trump?), had just passed me going in. A cook on my left suddenly reached under his white jacket and drew a pistol. It looked like the Beretta 9mm that Bruce Willis carried as John McClane. I grabbed his arm and wrestled him to the ground in that dreamy way dreams have, and he gave little resistance. When I stood up with the gun, a couple of cops came out, barely noticed the gun, and dragged the guy off, saying, "He's high on something." Which probably explained how I overpowered him. . . .

@46/Altaria Pilgram: Pair up their strong push to use a Microsoft account with the knowledge that they enable BitLocker drive encryption without really telling you, and how most users are unaware that a BitLocker recovery key exists and that they really need to print out or download a copy of that thing and store it someplace safe...

Yeah, it's already happening to some users. The BitLocker protection trips, they're asked for the recovery key, and maybe they can find out how to get access to that key through Microsoft's online account options...

Or maybe they've since lost access to that account and they're pretty much dead in the water.

84 So if I'm not mistaken, over the past generation or so, student loans have gradually been almost completely folded into this arcane nationalized system where they're essentially all back-stopped by the US Gov't in some way or another.

So, in a way, they would have a tenuous right to cancel student loan debt unilaterally. But i would imagine that the issue we should worry about is not so much if they can or can't, it's that they shouldn't even be in that position in the first place.

88 Biden's stay at Camp David. Is it like boot camp, up at 5am and after a troop run off to the chow hall. Then a day of training.
Mostly watching videos of how and what to counter Trump with.
Or is it up a 10 am, nice breakfast, back rub, and a motivation speech, and early to bed.

89 Trying to run windows 10 or ANY part thereof has suddenly become areal bitch. No matter what your default browser is, V11 comes barging in, creating a real mess with the overwhelming promotion for 11.

I predict that 11 will go nuts for a bit then collapse when it becomes evident it's basically inoperable due to format.

91 Since it is going to be Juneteenth hot here in Las Cruces today I think I am going to jump on the new Trail 125, now named Piglet, and head down to The Bean for a well-made mocha at 7:30 am. I am trying to decide if Sylvia Plath or Charles Bukowski poetry is a better paring.

92 Joe Biden will get reelected, die in office and become The Man Who Twice Defeated American Hitler.
His funeral will make McCain's look austere.
Other than that, beautiful morning in Jamaica Queens
