This is wonderful news.

The media was already filled with woke progressives but, starting in 2016 and then accelerating after the Summer of George, they hired only minority feminist ultra-progressives. If you didn't have custom pronouns, luridly neon Danger Hair, and more piercings than Quint's abdomen,* you could no longer work in the (giggle) "prestige" media.

The New York Times wokies demanded multiple scalps of White Men (spit) or non-conforming Jews in editorial positions. They got the scalps.

Now the wokies at the even-more subverted Washington Post have gotten the firing they were demanding. The Washington Post itself ran a hit-piece on the incoming White Man! (spit) editor, a story approved by the incompetent woke (but female) current Executive Editor that the new hire was set to replace.

They ran this hit-piece while also staging a rebellion within the paper.

So the craven accidental billionaire Jeff Bezos submitted.

As I said, he's a woke coward himself who craves the approval of the leftwing media. It's astonishing that he's not a GOP politician, really.

WaPo staff threw a massive hissy fit like the mental toddlers that they are, can’t blame Winnett for realizing he was walking into an intellectually and ideologically toxic work environment and deciding he didn’t need that

The woke staff celebrates its win with this gloating article, which is unusual in that it's not paywalled for once -- they want the world to know their victory.

Robert Winnett, the British journalist recently tapped to become editor of The Washington Post later this year, will not take the job and will remain at the Daily Telegraph in London, according to a memo obtained by The Post on Friday.
"I'm pleased to report that Rob Winnett has decided to stay with us," Telegraph editor Chris Evans wrote to staff. "As you all know, he's a talented chap and their loss is our gain."
Winnett, deputy editor of London's Telegraph Media Group, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Post CEO and publisher Will Lewis confirmed that Winnett had withdrawn from the position, relaying the news "with regret" in a note to Post staff. "Rob has my greatest respect and is an incredibly talented editor and journalist," Lewis wrote. "The leadership at The Telegraph Media Group are reaffirming his continued role as deputy editor."

Oh, he withdrew? Bezos didn't can him and tell him to say he withdrew?

The announcement came after days of turmoil at The Post, triggered by the abrupt exit of executive editor Sally Buzbee as well as questions about the past practices of both Winnett and Lewis -- veterans of London newsrooms that operate by different rules than their American counterparts.
Lewis announced Winnett's hiring just 2 1/2 weeks ago. They previously worked together at both the Telegraph and the Sunday Times.
A Telegraph spokesperson said the newspaper would not be commenting beyond Friday's staff note from Evans.

Because it's a lie and everyone knows it.

Reporters at the Post had complained that the interim and permanent replacements for Buzzbee didn't share the culture of the Post and weren't "diverse" enough to fit in, but of course, that was the point. The Post is on a glide path to bankruptcy and total irrelevance in Washington and beyond, and radical change was necessary.

It's wonderful, really.

68 Thank God for dash cameras. Picked up my charger from a tire rotation and oil change and it had a nice new hole in the catalytic converter. Double checked the dash cam before bringing it back to the mechanic, and the owner looked at the hole, watched the dash cam where his mechanic put the hole in it taking it off the rack.

They're going to replace the cat and pipe where the hole was made. No arguments either as it was obvious what happened in the dashcam video.

He was also backed from the beginning by big book publishing companies and Wall Street looking to get out from under the brick-and-mortar bookstores.

Then the company was badly managed and almost went under twice. It wasn't truly saved until the brick and mortar stores committed suicide and his online presence was there to lap up the business. Then covid.

Gotta disagree. The technology Amazon built in its warehouses is the essence of innovation. They are years ahead of everyone else with Walmart being somewhat the exception. The lucky part - a lot of success comes down to being in the right place at the right and then running with it. I'm not gonna denigrate him for that. Unlike most people at that time he realized the real money isn't in the store, it's in the building the infrastructure which you can then rent to other people. Amazon the store lost money well into the mid-2000s but Amazon Web Services floated the company.

Jeebus. Growing up in Vegas in the 60's & 70's, we had 3-a-day football practices in August with temps 110 or more. And the coaches had stopwatches on us as we stood in line for the few water-breaks allowed -- where you got your 10 seconds to drink as much as you could, and you liked it!

WaPo has a reputation of being more of a straight shooter, maybe a bit left (because truth has a liberal bias after all) and that guy would not have been a good fit for the WaPo culture.

There was a revolution in the making by the reporters at WaPo about his appointment and I hope they keep it up to get rid of Will Lewis as well.

I like to mix some potassium/salt/sugar in a liter of water and roll my own Electrolyte drink. Exertion in hot weather - take it easy. Excess salt won't hurt in the short term.

It is impossible to "stay hydrated" if your electrolytes are low.

I was surprised to see "sugar free" sports drinks. Not from a marketing perspective certainly.

From a technical standpoint, small amounts of glucose - sugar - are what makes sports drinks work. Osmotic pressure. Basically the ratio is a kind of synthetic sweat.

Gatorade was said to win football games down in Florida. And it probably did. But it tasted terrible, I remember that. Well - forgive me for being cynical, but I bet "they" ruined it. I can make my own Electrolyte drinks for pennies a gallon. And I know they are made correctly, and can avoid all the weirdo shit they put in everything now. Even corn syrup is just nasty in the first place.

When I worked outside a lot, in heat and humidity, it is almost impossible to drink enough fluids. Electrolytes in proper proportion also means you don't have to piss every 5 minutes.

Fluid retention is not a good thing for people with cardiovascular issues thus the recommendation for a lower salt diet.

I don't trust corporations any longer. Plus they want $2 to $3 a quart. And they are usually owned by conglomerates who are doing really weird shit now. F them.
