Surfing on the sky. This hotel room is making me Matterhorn-y. Patagonia in black and white. Beach bulls. Big boy takes a big gulp. This cat does want fries with that shake, thank you very much. Puppy monsoon. It's a dog on a dog. I could do this but I don't feel like proving it to you. I could also do this but I'd look like a show-off. And this too. A fjord (or fiordo, as they call it) in Italy. Epic mountains in Italy. I assume it's the Alps. (It's the Dolomites, which is a range in the Alps.) What "bro country" sounds like to people who don't like bro country music. And: Simon and Garfunkle cover "Baby Got Back." And even: "Baby Got Back" by Leonard Cohen. Bonus: The Beach Boys sing "99 Problems (but a bitch ain't one)." Is this real? I think most of it is real. The part I have questions about is the train. That could have been added in post. If it is real, this guy does not have long to live. He's lonely for the grave.

Uncontroversial opinion: Retractable headlights are neat and we should bring them back. I mean, except for the bit that it's another system that can fail and render the car undrivable at night.
And all modern cars having "daytime running lamps" means they really only retract when the car is parked. Yes, you can turn the running lights off, but I think they're the default mode on everything with wheels, now. Also..... This is absolutely a big deal. Don’t buy the bullshit otherwise. It was not a standard op. The MAL raid was an unprecedented action with significant potential for confusion and blue on blue issues and conflict. It also involved competing equities between federal agencies (FBI & USSS) with equal statutory claims to interrupt the other’s activities. Anyone telling you otherwise is either dumb, or playing dumb. I’ve done more deconfliction with Russians in a foreign op I did for the USSS than the FBI did in their search warrant at MAL. Only a dumbass would pitch the “it’s the standard paperwork” line. Go serve a search warrant at the White House in the cocaine case while filling out your “standard paperwork” and see how that works out for you. Wake up. I read that the governor of AZ doesn't have the pardon power which governors traditionally have. The article I saw said the pardon power in AZ is reserved for the Board of Pardons, over which the guv has no control.
Of course, the guv fills the Board vacancies as they occur, but that's like SCOTUS. It doesn't change quickly just because a new governor gets elected. Posted by: mnw at May 21, 2024 09:07 PM (NLIak) 122

I'm wondering if a mole tipped offTrump's team about the raid, so they exited and prevented a shootout.
The only reason to send in agents with lethal force orders and no identifying clothing is to provoke gunplay. They hoped to kill Trump, or to blame him for the shootout. Posted by: Thomas Paine at May 21, 2024 09:09 PM (MhoYO) 127
Attorney General Ken Paxton @KenPaxtonTX 2h
The Biden administration sent plain clothed armed agents with authorization to use “deadly force” against his political opponent. Nothing to see here. Breanna Morello @BreannaMorello 2h I did some digging into the “deadly force” verbiage that was used in court documents regarding Trump’s classified documents case. Since 2000, every FBI Operations plan has had the "Deadly Force Policy" section pre-filled in. All federal Agents are authorized to use Deadly Force in accordance with this policy. I’m told this is nothing unique and is pretty standard. Jeff Carlson @themarketswork 2h This was a former President of the United States. There should have been all sorts of stipulations to ensure that under no possible scenario would Trump be in any way hurt or threatened. There should have been additional directives for managing engagement w/SS. Posted by: andycanuck (ZdexC) at May 21, 2024 09:09 PM (ZdexC) 128
Sean Davis @seanmdav 2h
“Actually, they’re allowed to kill any of the targets they raid,” is an even greater indictment of the FBI’s behavior, and proof that that the corrupt FBI and DOJ had zero business ever raiding Mar-A-Lago. It was a horrific idea apart from the use of deadly force. But once Garland allowed his Stasi agents to potentially kill Trump, it went from horrific to insane and potentially even treasonous. Garret O'Boyle @GOBactual 2h The DOJ deadly force policy is literally in EVERY @fbi op order and read verbatim to every agent involved prior to the op. This is a giant nothing-🍔. If @realDonaldTrump picked a competent @fbi director, he'd have known that. The MAL raid is dubious at best. This policy is not. Cernovich @Cernovich 2h We all know this is standard in cases NOT involving a former POTUS under secret service protection. It’s sketchy as hell to see people acting like this was an ordinary raid and that usual policies would apply. Posted by: andycanuck (ZdexC) at May 21, 2024 09:09 PM (ZdexC) 129

And does the bank have that kind of cash on hand at any time ?
Posted by: polynikes No. Bank branches are just like any other retail store in that they have to order their goods to have product on hand to satisfy a normal timeframe's need. So, in this case, assuming the withdrawer made proper arrangements to take out his $$$, the branch manager would have to order the proper amount of cash, in the proper denomination, to be delivered at a specified time. And let me assure you - a withdrawal of that amount, while not that unusual these days, would cause notification to go way up the ladder to be authorized. No branch wants to lost those $$$ under management. It's part of how the branch manager's compensation is calculated. They would have moved heaven and earth to keep those funds within the bank - perhaps moving the customer to a 'Platinum' status or adding any number of other perks for a high net worth customer. Then, you have to listen to a 30 second warning again on a recording to go back to the live person to confirm you still want to wire. Finally, the money transfers. Tom Mix had a 1937 Cord 812
He was a huge Cowboy film star. As big as anybody today, like Costner or Selleck. A bridge on the road he was driving was out, that wasn’t marked, and Tom was killed. Supposedly, a large metal briefcase he carried with him slammed into his head, breaking his neck. Posted by: Common Tater at May 21, 2024 09:39 PM (PXj64) I have been to the site of the Tom Mix memorial on the highway south of Florence. The bridge was undergoing repairs, and there was a detour, but he was drunk, and blew past a barricade. He was well-known for driving while under the influence. The car was not that badly damaged, and was later fixed up and resold, IIRC. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at May 21, 2024 09:46 PM (dOXkF) 191
Why wasn’t Hanoi Jane arrested?
Had congress a formal declaration of war, would that have made a difference? Peaceful protest is one thing, what Henry Fonda’s “alleged daughter” (his words) was unconscionable, regardless. And then Carter pardoning all those draft dodgers. They should have invaded Berkely instead of Bien Hoa, in hindsight, but still. Posted by: Common Tater at May 21, 2024 09:47 PM (PXj64) 192

About the same way they've benefitted from holding their noses and always picking the D over the R. Thats the problem, right there, with Republicans. The absolute refusal the let things get worse - in the short run - for the chance to make shit better in the long run. Like refusing to let the pond full of alligators get an inch higher - to kill a couple gators. Posted by: Its Always Been This Way at May 21, 2024 09:52 PM (pTv5j) 209
