4 On arrival last week in Belgrade I saw a guy kayaking on the Danube here. I assume he has, or had, a death wish. The confluence here is so treacherous for millenia riverside dwellers never learned to swim, only float.

47 My dad worked out in the country a lot building fence. One day, a raccoon ambled up to where they were eating lunch so Daddy fed him part of a sandwich and they were buddies from then on. He brought him home and the raccoon lived in the backyard at my parents house for a few months. I came for Thanksgiving with my brother and his family and we stood in the kitchen window and watched the raccoon come out of the garage and climb the fences into the neighbor's backyard to torment his Jack Russell terrier. The coon got tired and climbed up on the clothesline pole while the dog circled and barked. The neighbor came out and was yelling at the dog and trying to catch it and yelling at the coon, who climbed down the pole and headed for the back fence after a couple of circles around the pole. The guy kicked at the coon and missed, of course, and fell flat on his back. The coon went back around the pole and the guy kicked and missed again. This time, the coon went over the fence and came home to the garage. Funniest thing I ever saw. Then, the neighbor called the Parks and Wildlife department and my dad had to evacuate the raccoon to my cousin's house out in the country.

Had a skunk go into a cat house/tub with 4 babies and mamma cat in it. Fight started, mama ran out.
I was pissed. Grabbed the 22. Flipped the lid off the tub, skunk looked up, shot him between the eyes. Shot him 6 more times. Threw his ass out into the yard. Went back in, got a .357 lever, shot him 3 times. Layed it down, went back in and got a revolver. Shot him six more times.

Yeah. He was dead after the first shot. The other 15 were because I was pissed.

Feed it buttermilk and cornbread for 30 days. Skin out and soak in vinegar ice cold over night. Parboil until tender. Brown in iron skillet with onions and bacon grease. Remove and make gravy, return to skillet and cover, simmer until falls off bones. Serve with rice, cornbread, and buttermilk.

Backyard groundhogs I'd just suggest a basic .22 pistol. The coyote changes things. Unless they let you get up close, you probably want a rifle. Any basic AR with a basic optic is probably fine. It really depends a lot on you though. Are you using it as personal defense while hiking? Are you defending livestock? Are you in an area where the neighbors are going to report you if you shoot something in your yard?

In any case, I'd really suggest getting some range time with someone who knows what they're doing. Guns are great, but they're not toys and you should know what you're doing if you're going to use one.

We were taken into town by the owner of a Hertz franchise who drove on the wrong side of the road on a bridge and sometimes drove on sidewalks in town. The reason he drove my friend and I into town was that the telephone operators were on strike and we couldn't contact anyone in Switzerland to tell them that we had had an accident. We had to drive to the actual office of the telephone company.
