Right there, they're admitting they're not even capable of feeding themselves. If Princeton 'wants to let us starve, then they're welcome to do that'A three-day "hunger strike" is just a 72 hour fast. It's easy. This isn't a protest, it's a slim-down weekend. Do these idiots have any idea how long it takes to actually starve to death? No, no they don't. An extremely obese man fasted for 382 days (under close medical supervision and taking vitamins and minerals). Angus was reportedly sick of being obese, and checked into the University Department of Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Dundee weighing 207kg (32.5 stone). [That's 456 pounds in American.] He told hospital staff he was ready to cut out food together, so doctors happily agreed to monitor his progress. Angus's doctors didn't really expect the fast to last long. But they thought a short fast would help him to lose some weight. To compensate for his lack of nutrients, he was prescribed multivitamins to take regularly, including potassium and sodium, as well as yeast. As days turned to weeks, Angus's persistence increased. The Scot wanted to reach his reported "ideal weight" of 180 pounds (12.8 stone), so he kept going, much to his doctors' surprise. These little fucking idiot weaklings really don't know anything, do they? And some of these stupid little porkchops look like they could use a couple of weeks of fasting:

So, I've been IFing like crazy since the start of Lent. I kept it up after Easter, and I'm now (according to my scale) under 20% body fat.
It'll probably go back up tomorrow. Also, I don't really trust the scale. But, I look good. I can see my obliques, even. Still have that belly fat, but I see no reason to stop the IF or the strength training schedule. It's amazing how minor the hunger pangs become. Before Lent, I'd break down and start eating lunch by 11. After, I don't get the thought to break fast until well after noon, and then it's just, "I'm fine. I'm not that hungry." Pooky has tried to take control of his PTSD nightmares by listening to horror podcasts with mixed results. It is really hard to track results because of outside factors and the fact that he's on a medication to help him forget the dreams. His therapists are unsure about the method but can't really recommend anything else that works.

Still having problems with elevated insulin levels despite mostly sticking to low-carb, time-restricted eating, regular exercise, etc. I suspect this, in turn, is continuing to block further fat loss since last year. My endo offered to prescribe me metformin (an old diabetes med) to attempt to break through the wall so I started on that. Of course, now my insurance company thinks I have the 'beetus which is wonderful.
A potential contributing factor to not only this but my high blood pressure (and tiredness, and brain fog) is sleep apnea. I'll be doing a home sleep study soon and, if confirmed, I'll just get the damned CPAP. Posted by: antisocial justice beatnik at May 10, 2024 04:48 PM (DTX3h) 95

What’s weird for me is I’m watching TV, reading a book or just on the phone and I start dozing off. I figure time to go to sleep but no, as soon as I’m in bed without the stimulus I stay awake.
I figure what is going on is the brain is slowing down and the additional stimulus activates the sleeping process but as soon as you remove the stimulus the brain has enough processing power to stay awake. Not sure if that is the case but it is maddening. Posted by: MAGA_Ken at May 10, 2024 04:48 PM (2fIO4) 97
That Princeton video is hilarious. First if all, no one is making them stay there so if they want to eat, they can, and if they don't want to eat, they don't have to. Secondly, is she really claiming they are all immuno-compromised because they have not eaten for a while?

Gym I attend has a class twice a week of a circuit where you do a type of squat so many times, then dumb bell rows so many times, then bike for so many minutes then planking for so many minutes and you do 4 cycles through the circuit and change when the instructor yells "Time To Change". Then rest and repeat. Some of the exercises vary each class and I have found just moving from station to station as well as getting down on the deck and then up for each change really gives a great workout. Instructor stretches us before and after the 45 minute class. Really getting my flexibility back as well as cardio. Plus I am the only guy in the class and I get to look at all the fine wimmens as they go through the motions. Win-Win!

My gains - actually losses - are continuing. Pace has slowed, but that is to be expected. There's a knee on any curve and the start is always faster and easier than the finish. But I am still making *consistent* progress, just not as rapidly despite doing more. I knew it was coming but it's still a bit psychologically difficult.
But as of this morning, I am 67% of the way toward my first-round weight loss goal (a bit under 60% of the way to by second-round goal, if I pursue it). At my recent rate of progress, I should hit it by the end of summer, about nine or ten months total. It's a slog. I'm still fat and weak, but I am losing weight and I am getting stronger. One bit at a time. I've found that I have to supplement and do extra exercise on my left side. My left side is weak and now that I'm lifting heavier things, I can't count on catch-up with symmetrical exercise (struggle a bit on the next increase then move on). Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at May 10, 2024 05:21 PM (d9fT1) ----------- Just refrigerator pickles. My family loves those Grillo pickles, and by looking at the ingredients and searching a few recipes online I have come up with a reasonable facsimile. So when pickling cukes come in at the farmers market, I'm their best customer. Posted by: bluebell - NoVaMoMe24 registration now open! at May 10, 2024 05:25 PM (bS+DD) 249

@27 Is there anything dumber than a hunger strike?
-------- Hunger strikes can be useful against regimes that are actually oppressive. Political prisoners have been known to use them to get the regime to back off of some of the more heavy-handed punishments inflicted on them. But in such cases - 1.) The publicity can highlight outrageous actions by the regime, and make the rest of the world aware of them. 2.) The action effectively says, "I would rather starve than continue to be treated in this manner." Authoritarian regimes often attempt to forcefeed political prisoners that engage in this behavior. They also frequently fold because they know it's embarrassing them in front of the world. Obviously, none of that applies here. Posted by: junior at May 10, 2024 05:26 PM (15bd3) 254
I understand that. But the post talked about how long people can go without eating. Sands is one of the more famous examples. And he was in jail.

Lossezzz-
I have lost 70 pounds over the past 12 months. Was 280; now 210. Dieting only for the first 10 months. In addition, two months ago I began walking 2 to 3 miles every day. My weight loss rate hasn't changed so far. I primarily began walking again for mobility and overall health improvements. I have taken the GOLO Release supplement all along. Two capsules a day, one each before lunch and dinner. I have no proof it increased my fat loss as the maker it claims it can. Ihave no proof it hindered my weight loss, either. No detectable side-effects. FYI and Caveat Emptor. I also took another set of TV-advertised supplements when I began my diet campaign. Balance of Nature Fruit and Vegetables capsules, 2 each every day. This appears to have cleared-up a hard-to-cure skin condition on the left thigh I've had for 5 years, and seems to have helped reduce the long-term joint pain in my left knee. I have no proof it helped with either problem. I cannot say I definitely feel better overall due to taking it. But I have not detected any adverse effects. Again - FYI and Caveat Emptor. Good luck with your own quest for gainzzz or lossezzz. Posted by: Gref at May 10, 2024 05:32 PM (5fDan) 274

I've had those stress/anxiety nightmares since I was in college -- maybe before. Some of them were wild. A teacher was calling me every 30 seconds demanding I turn in a paper, and I was trying to write it as I was running from one end of the campus to her office on the other end.
------------------ 40 years after college I still get the dream where I suddenly realize, about a week before the end of a term, that there was a class I had registered for then completely forgot to attend or do any assignments, and I'm panicking trying to figure out how to catch up since it's too late to drop it. For a time a couple of decades back, I'd have a dream in which I was called into someone's office at Berkeley and informed that I was getting the old heave-ho from the Ph.D. program because I had not satisfied the English course requirement for my B.S. in Chemistry from Michigan Tech. I must have had that dream repeated ten times or more. Then it devolved to me being called into an office at Tech and being told that I was getting the old heave-ho from Tech because I had not satisfied the English course requirement from my high school. At that point, I consciously decided that I had had enough of that nonsense and the dream chain was broken, never to recur. I wonder now if it had anything to do with my girlfriend from high school and I having broken up many, many years back. She was the daughter of my senior year's English teacher.
