Hamas makes a new wonderful ceasefire offer for Israel -- would you accept dead hostages (aka "murder victims") in our hostages-for-prisoners deal?

What a deal! Hamas has a new proposal for a cease-fire, disguised as the former US-negotiated hostage deal, but with a new twist. Now that the Israelis have made it clear that Joe Biden won't stop them from destroying the remaining Hamas brigades in Rafah, they want to go back to the deal they rejected ... as long as the Israelis aren't too picky about body temperature:

In an announcement detailing the clauses to which it had agreed Monday in the latest proposal for a deal, the terror group said, "During the first phase, Hamas releases 33 Israeli detainees (alive or corpses)."
The New York Times reported Tuesday that the terror group had explicitly told mediators that some of the 33 hostages it would release under the first phase of the prospective deal would not be alive. The Times said it was not clear whether the terror group had informed interlocutors how many of the 33 would be alive.
A failure to release 33 living hostages would appear to conflict with Israeli demands.

The latest ABC-Ipsos poll over the weekend showed Donald Trump winning the under-30s by five points over Joe Biden, 48% to 43%. That was entirely down to Trump's huge advantage with young men, 54% to 43%.
Young women favored Biden by three points, 44% to 41%, still a rather anemic vote of confidence considering all the "Handmaid's Tale"-style propaganda being thrown at them about abortion and Trump's beastly ways.
It's a nightmare scenario for Biden, who has been counting on the youth vote to win him the election like it did in 2020. Hence his desperate pandering to Gen Z.
The president is splashing around billions of taxpayer dollars on student debt relief, relaxing cannabis legislation, championing "trans kids" as the greatest heroes of their generation and inviting gender-fluid young TikTok influencers to VIP events at the White House. This is not your granddad's Joe Biden.
But none of it can close the growing ideological gulf between the sexes, which has its roots in the unjust treatment of boys and young men in recent decades.
The college gender gap was a crisis when men outnumbered women up until the 1980s, but now that there are three women for every two men in college, we must rejoice. You go, girl!
Now there are 1 million fewer men in college than in 2011, according to Pew Research, with one-quarter of male Ivy Leaguers identifying as LGBT. It's sexual reparations in which nobody had a say.
There is a cohort of women who are giving the fairer sex a bad name. These toxic femmes gobbled up the unjust privileges of affirmative action and the punitive fakery that the #MeToo movement became and then found they were more miserable than ever.
So they doubled down, offloading blame onto the patriarchy or toxic masculinity or whatever excuse they could find to avoid looking in the mirror.

Speaking of, neurotic hysterical White Women are now pushing the latest shrill propganda, claiming that it's safer to encounter a bear in the woods than a (spit) man.

They claim that men are more dangerous to women than bears.

Which is a strange claim, as they encounter hundreds of men daily, with few adverse incidents.

They have never encountered a single bear, of course.

So as usual, humiliating levels of childlike ignorance is both their shield and their sword.

Now, if the question were "would you rather be alone with a "male feminist" or a bear" -- that I could see being a closer question.

32 Use to go to court down in Sullivan county NY. It's rural and hilly with a few dump towns like Monticello. Hasidim come up from the city to summer camps which doubles the population of the county. In late 90s or early 2000s a mother left her baby in a stroller outside their cabin which was next to a dumpster. A young bear came out of the woods grabbed the baby by the head and broke it's neck. If one is walking around in the wilderness in bear country, you want the biggest, baddest firearm you can handle with deep penetrating heavy bullets. Thus, to get even some of that deadly effect in a handgun requires moving up to those ultra hard recoiling magnum rounds where the 357 Magnum with heavy bullets is considered at the low end of the power scale.

Some folks hunt other game with those heavy handguns too to make it a sport as you have to have good stalking skills to get close enough to shoot them with a handgun at 100 yards or so.

Me, I wouldn't walk in the woods in bear country. without a firearm.

156 The only consistent critter problem I ever had was with porcupines in CO. They would be attracted to stinky sweaty boots and places where you'd pee. And then they'd go into your camp at night and they could claw right through packs and tents.

Not trying to eat you or anything but trying to get to your stuff. Like a Target in the hood they were just breaking in to take everything they could. I had to sit up with a flash light, string up packs high, and spend all night scaring them away until I got to a high enough altitude. Little bastards. Each flare does a bit more damage to joints so always a literal pain when it happens.

Honestly, it was never a really big deal; nothing antibiotics wouldn't help keep from getting bad. A couple of open wounds under my armpits. As long as we stayed on top of it, we all knew everything would be fine.

The folks at wound care told me my recovery was "textbook perfect". It helps that I am not diabetic and don't have any respiratory or circulatory issues. I also have never smoked and I rarely drink alcohol (like NYE and weddings "rare")

There is a guy on Ammoland that has tracked bear attacks on humans for years and has a regular column about it. I actually think he lives in Washington State so that might tell you a bit about the risk level.

The other risk beyond bears are the two legged criminals that lurk around trials for victims. That is pretty much a problem in the wilderness everywhere and some of the reason that an individual or a couple just disappear there.

Lived in NH for a few years. I wasn't at the new house from more than 10 minutes before my neighbors showed up and warned me about putting but bird feeders because the bears love those things. Lots of black bears up there. Some are good sized. Most were scrawny looking, but I wouldn't want to wrestle them.

Woke up to take a leak in the river the next morning and there were bear tracks through the sand about 20 feet from where we slept. The tracks were not there when we went to bed.

Your condition is a horrible disease to suffer with and I wish your transition to the new bio equivalent to go smoothly. I've known several people with it over the years and always felt compassion for their sufferings. FWIW, I used to be college teaching faculty so got to know a lot of students suffering with medical ills over the years.

Between major surgery and then the Humira I have only dealt with mini flares, tiredness and nutrient deficiencies so all in all I have very little to complain about. I hope it goes well for both of us!!!
