Portrait of writer Vsevolod Mikhailovich Garshin
Ilya Repin Whoa. This is excellent. Repin's control of the highlights in the blacks is quite the thang and set up Garshin's face to be the star of this work, as it should. This work has me recalling photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson notion of the Decisive Moment where a composition has its own inevitability and if this painting was a photograph would capture the fleeting moment where everything in the frame has a certain perfection. Would hang. Posted by: lost in space at May 10, 2024 09:44 AM (Amk6c) 82

I like how Ripen uses light in his paintings to help create a mood for the viewer. In this one the stark white walls make the clutter and figure stand out. It focuses attention on the writer's face and posture which is eloquent, as if he were talking to the viewer. I could hear him muttering "The deadline is when!!!?"

One phenomenon not talked about enough is the reaction of the Biden Administration to the 2020 election.

Ann Coulter tells Ramaswamy she wont vote for him 'because you're Indian', "core national identity" is WASP. Mr Ramaswamy welcomed Ms Coulter by telling her that he is a fan.
She replied that he is “bright and articulate” and notes that she wouldn’t be “allowed” to say that to him, if he was “an American Black.” “I agreed with many, many things you said during your campaign, in fact probably more than most other candidates when you were running for president. But I still would not have voted for you because you’re an Indian.” She then claimed that the “core national identity” in the United States is a “WASP” - a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. Leave it to Ann to be the one person ever to make me feel an iota of sympathy towards Vivek. She's a bigot and gross. WASP? With your Catholic SCOTUS doing the heavy lifting for you? Ann? Really? Ablation comes in three main forms. Surgical (physically interrupting), cryo (freezing) and RF (focused radio frequency energy). The goal is to selectively ablate or ("erase" or destroy) a portion of the heart muscle that is electrically disruptive, thereby stabilizing cardiac rhythm. Not all types of dysrhythmia are amenable to ablation.

Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice ++++ Old joke: A hillbilly goes to town once a year to lay in supplies. One year, he broke his leg and had to send his son. He writes up a list of things and puts it with a bag of money. He says, "It'll be late and the store will be closed. In the morning, go hand the man this list and this money and he'll get you everything you need. Then you come home." He hands the boy another bag of money and says, "When you get there, ask one of those town folk where the hotel is. Give this money to the clerk for a room and meal. They're fancy down there in town, and the clerk's gonna make you sign your name in a book. I know you can't read or write, but don't worry. Just sign with an 'X.'" It goes as the boy's father described. When it came time to sign the register, he wrote an 'X,' then put another 'X' next to it. The clerk said, "we get you hillbillies sometimes who sign with an 'X,' but I've never seen someone use two 'X'es before!" The boy replied, "well, sir, I'm a stranger in a strange place. Once had a neighbor's non-farm dog useless heeler get out of their fenced yard and decide my front porch was the one he was supposed to be on. He dropped wet loose shit all over the porch and then nosed it into a central pile, smearing a big circle of shit into the outdoor carpeting with a little hill in the center. When I finally found his dog on the porch, neighbor thanked me for returning the dog, but refused to clean up the shit. I'll just shoot the dog and bury it out back if it happens again.
