While that might put the fire out they now have a highly contaminated asbestos blanket they have to dispose of along with what remains of the car and the battery.


Eventually we are going to have to create sort of a spent fuel pool for burned out electric cars and their batteries like they have at all nuclear reactors to dispose of spent fuel rods.

You might not ever see these words written again, but I'm a pretty big fan of asbestos. Handled properly it is an amazing substance, and IIRC it's still used in better brake pads to this day (because it's awesome) even though no one will talk about it because it's evil.

I just like to laugh at the EV "saving the planet" part while requiring massive amounts of asbestos shedding into the atmosphere and water supply, plus the hazards to staff from cradle of production to grave of disposal.

The little spring-suspension bouncy seat thing that had a mobile above it and little toys on the shelf in front was probably the favorite, though. Bouncing until passing out was always comical.

Yeah, it does. Not sure how much metallic lithium exists in lithium batteries. But in Europe they have been successful with simply picking up the burning cars with a long-reach forklift, and dropping them into an open-topped water tank on a flatbed truck. A vast excess of cold water quenches the fire, and if it continues to sputter away under water, no harm is done.
