New CNN Poll: Trump Is Thumping Biden, 49-43, As Most Americans (55%) Judge Trump's First Term a Success, and Most (61%) Judge Biden's Term a Failure

Let me quote CNN on this.

CNN Poll: Trump maintains lead over Biden in 2024 matchup as views on their presidencies diverge

"Diverge." She means that the public views Trump's presidency as a success and Biden's a failure, but she doesn't want to put that in a headline, because the feelings of CNN's audience of leftwing autists must be protected.

Donald Trump continues to hold an advantage over President Joe Biden as the campaign -- and the former president's criminal trial -- move forward, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS. And in the coming rematch, opinions about the first term of each man vying for a second four years in the White House now appear to work in Trump's favor, with most Americans saying that, looking back, Trump's term as president was a success, while a broad majority says Biden's has so far been a failure.

Trump's support in the poll among registered voters holds steady at 49% in a head-to-head matchup against Biden, the same as in CNN's last national poll on the race in January, while Biden's stands at 43%, not significantly different from January's 45%.

Looking back, 55% of all Americans now say they see Trump's presidency as a success, while 44% see it as a failure. In a January 2021 poll taken just before Trump left office and days after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, 55% considered his time as president a failure.

Assessing Biden's time in office so far, 61% say his presidency thus far has been a failure, while 39% say it's been a success. That's narrowly worse than the 57% who called the first year of his administration a failure in January 2022, with 41% calling it a success.

So good. So satisfying.

Negative views of Biden's work in office have held for much of his presidency. In the new poll, 60% disapprove of his handling of the job and 40% approve, about the same as it's been in CNN polling for more than a year. Even Biden's strongest issue approval ratings in the poll are also in negative territory, with 45% approving of his handling of health care policy and 44% approving his handling of student loan debt. And his worst issue approval rating -- for his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza -- yields 28% approval to 71% disapproval, including an 81% disapproval mark among those younger than 35 and majority disapproval among Democrats (53%).

Biden's approval ratings for the economy (34%) and inflation (29%) remain starkly negative, as voters say economic concerns are more important to them when choosing a candidate than they were in each of the past two presidential contests.
In the new poll, 65% of registered voters call the economy extremely important to their vote for president, compared with 40% who felt that way in early 2020 and 46% who said the same at roughly this point in 2016. Those voters who say the economy is deeply important break heavily for Trump in a matchup against Biden, 62% to 30%.

A broad majority of all Americans, 70%, say economic conditions in the US are poor, with many, particularly Republicans, who feel that way saying their views would be more affected by a political shift than a change in the economy itself. About 4 in 10 in that group (41%) say that a change in political leadership in Washington would do more to change their impressions of the economy than a lower rate of inflation, a change in their personal financial situation or a sustained rise in the stock market. About 6 in 10 Republicans (61%) who say the economy is in bad shape say a change in leadership would shift their views, compared with 13% of Democrats who feel that way.

This is amazing:

In the Biden vs. Trump matchup, the poll finds Biden faring worse than in previous CNN polls among the youngest voters, trailing Trump by a 51%-to-40% margin among voters younger than 35. Biden's deficit with voters in that group is driven largely by those who did not vote in 2020. With that group excluded, voters between the ages of 18 and 34 in this poll divide 46% for Biden to 47% for Trump.

So CNN is holding out hope that all of the young voters who didn't bother voting at all in 2020, and who now favor Trump, will continue not voting.

RCP's averages of swing state polls look bad for Biden, too:

It has to be remembered that most winning Republicans have lost the national vote in the past few decades, but won in the swing states.

If a Republican is ahead in the national vote -- forget about it, it's a blowout. Democrats run behind the national vote in the electoral college, so if Trump actually wins more votes, we're looking at a 300 electoral vote drubbing.

Now, I don't doubt that a Democrat here or there has lost confidence in Joe Biden, but they didn't let them on national yak shows. They let Cenk on an MSNBC show to express this.

More indicators that the long knives are out for Joe Biden. Not because of what Joe Biden has done. The next Democrat administration is going to continue with those policies, because it was never Biden in the first place. It's because it's time to sacrifce the goat.

"Didn't vote in 2020." What does that mean? Does that mean "could have, but chose not to" or does that mean, "could not have?" If the latter, this indicates that it was people 18 or older this year, who were not 18 yet in 2020. Very young people, in other words.

And TJM is right: I was in the voter data biz for 15 years in California, and since 2002 (when I quit), the turnout has gone up and up and up, like for every new million registrants, there are a million new votes cast.

A lot of the steal depended on GOP complicity particularly in AZ and GA and to some extent in MI, PA, and WI via state legislatures. And of course the cowardly federal court system in toto.

It is one thing to steal an election with massive mail in ballot fraud and covid restrictions but quite another to do so in ordinary elections unless the GOP allows another steal because they do not like Trump. McConnell would do just that but he is steadily losing control over a majority of his own caucus who might not be as eager to go down with the ship this time.

Ask yourself, why would anyone fight against voter ID, signature matching, outlawing ballot harvesting or securing mail in ballots which were always intended solely for people who could not physically get to the polls.

Harder to do in some states now and once you cross the over 100 percent of registered voter Rubicon in the blue cities, then you risk serious backlash after the fact.

Election cheating for incompetent shithead leaders is one of the biggest reasons that regimes tumble. Essentially the left believes its own gaseous emissions that a coup was actually a revolution. Revolts more or less require the mass of society to agree with it or at least tacitly approve it. That was never thus in the 2020 coup and possibly not even back when Obama was reelected in 2012. Yes, but they tumble because people show they will not stand for it anymore, sometimes violently. So I often wonder what it will take for the American populace to agree that voter fraud suits no one in the end and should not be tolerated. Because a lot of people in polls have seemed to indicate they don't care if it works in their favor, and a lot of the rest are just couch sitting pussies who will wait for the institutions, who have been thoroughly corrupted, to fix it.

The Dems lost the NV governor's race. Mitch helped them lose the Senate race as did the PA Gop did. AZ races were narrowly stolen but that gets a bit more difficult with every stupid action that Hobbs and Co have done. Resentful people tend to dislike politicians that pee on their leg and tell them it is raining.

Lot more resentful people now than in 2022.

Yes, but they tumble because people show they will not stand for it anymore, sometimes violently. The GOP as a party of officeholders is actually an anchor drag on Trump rather than a helper. Far too many of them are placeholders and losers and the stupid votes on FISA and Ukraine reflect that.

If Trump means what he says, he basically has to topple a massive party establishment that is designed around greed and doing what donors rather than voters want.

That is in essence the GOP gameplan since 1994--talk big and do nothing of substance unless the Dems want it done with a few exceptions like Abbott and DeSantis as governors. Now, there are a few more and the GOP AGs are becoming more of a force in suing the current administration and its insane executive orders and policies. Far too many of the GA governors lead from behind.

I know you know this already, living in PA. They will mail a ballot to your house, you will not send it in. But a vote will be made in your name. If you change your mind and show up at your polling place, you will be told that you had already turned in your vote via mail-in ballot. You can cast a provisional ballot, but they already counted 'your' original and will toss your provisional. This happened a lot from what I hear. Doesn't work as well with internet as even a 10 to 15 second ad is resented and most people have enough spam to simply ignore much of it.

Mass media advertising has pretty much started dying in this country along with the media it supported--newspapers are gutted, radio is dying, and broadcast tv is ignored by all but the oldest of American voters.

The most effective is GOTV via volunteers and individuals reaching out to others but GOP has hated that approach for years because A) new voters are not corporate friendly often, B) they get more compensation by media ads, campaign mailers, robocalls and without dealing with smelly ordinary people. Fits teh GOPe to a T.

It also depends on GOP complicity. The GOP leaders were complicit in the 2020 steal and did little to prevent it in places like 2022. They also refused to rally people in 2022 about it. And they particularly allowed the whole ballot harvesting in places like California in 2018 along with massive GOP retirements in the House that year. There is rampant crime in their front yards, people defecating on the street, the prices for lgroceries and gas are out of sight. Why would they be loyal troops? The true believers, the trans, Hamas lovers, are a minority. A very slim minority. They start with 35%. There is no will to put Biden back in office except this group.

298 Which of Joe's accomplishments in office is he touting in his campaign?

The ginned-up statistic "13 million jobs created, pal," is the only one I can think of.

300 289 Part of our demented ruling class is that they all absolutely *need* to be the hero of their own head canon. More than food, water and shelter.

They'll do all kinds of crooked shit as long as they can convince themselves that enough people will see them as good people who "did what needed to be done". It's not just about power for them, like it was for the typical 20th c. Communist. It's different. It's.... creepier.

Nah. It has always been thus--there is a reason that wealthy folks have always had a problem with society at large and seek to protect themselves from it. The higher SES has just changed its id from GOP to Dem by and large is all and they hate the middle class with a passion.

302 There is also the possibility, among young voters, that they are recognizing Biden could bring back the draft.

Definitely stealing this.

Ron has to be so clean that the Girl Scouts of America sell girl scout cookies outside his house all night long.

The left is gonna bring three wooden crucifix into the Senate chambers for confirmation hearings. Along with a shit-load of 'beach-people'.

305 I still wish trump started his own party
Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy at April 29, 2024 05:29 PM (PHukT)

The reason I'm not voting for him is that he didn't do that.

He had an opportunity to make history, big time. To destroy the GOP forever, and tear out the Dems' most important line of defense, and deal a crippling, possibly fatal blow to the regime.

But that would be unlikely to result in his re-election, which is what he cares about, and which doesn't matter, in the also unlikely event it happens.

He has his vendetta, which is cool and I get it. But it's useless to me, and everyone else but him. I wish him luck, I guess.

307 If a Republican is ahead in the national vote -- forget about it, it's a blowout. Democrats run behind the national vote in the electoral college, so if Trump actually wins more votes, we're looking at a 300 electoral vote drubbing.

Polling in April. How cute. About as cute as Dave in Fla declaring the night before the 2020 election that he saw absolutely no reason to think that President Trump would lose re-election.

February 2020 the economy was roaring, minority unemployment was extremely low, everything was looking great. Then the Plandemic, then the summer of BLM, then the Deep State doing everything to lie about everything to do with the Plademic to make people believe it was worse than it actually was. And then the rigged and stolen election. And then to add injury to the insult of stealing the election, the Deep State op to entrap President Trump supporters in January.

6 months to go until the 2024 "election". Absolutely no one from the rigged and stolen 2020 election has faced any consequences, and all are still in positions of power and influence. The 2024 election is already rigged and guaranteed stolen for Democrat candidate.

309 Reminder- all poLs are garbage, even ones we Like. Still, probably cause some on the left to burst blood vessels, so that'll be a plus.

Posted by: Bete at April 29, 2024 04:34 PM

Nah. The left is not worried at all. Just like they were not worried leading up to the 2020 election, since they knew they had it in the bag. These "polls" simply alert the Deep State as to how much they will need to cheat in each state in November.

Also, the right better be paying attention to Texas. With only a 6% (631k vote) victory in 2020, Texas is now a battleground state going forward. Especially with the millions of illegal aliens which have invaded over past 4 years. For perspective, the vote difference was 23% (1.7mil votes) in 2004 and 16% (1.2mil votes) in 2012.

310 OK but how are the Venezuelans, Chinese and Haitians voting?

Posted by: leber at April 29, 2024 07:14 PM (rovGg)

311 The "loyal troops" in State SoS offices, elections commissions, precincts, police departments, DA offices, newsrooms, etc. are all still on board. If the Party orders them to steal it, they'll steal it.
Posted by: Joe Mannix

Harder to do in some states now and once you cross the over 100 percent of registered voter Rubicon in the blue cities, then you risk serious backlash after the fact.

Posted by: whig at April 29, 2024 05:09 PM

Not harder in Michigan. 2022 ballot measure was approved 60-40 for the following:

Proposal 2: Expand Voting Access -- Changes voting policies in Michigan, including requiring nine days of early voting, authorizing absentee ballot drop boxes, and allowing voters without photo ID to sign an affidavit verifying their identity.

2022 ballot measure just assured Michigan will be stolen even easier in 2024 than it was in 2020.

312 The national GOP hates its voters and just luvvs them some corporate graft and social liberalism.

Posted by: whig at April 29, 2024 05:35 PM

This has been the case since at least the 2006 amnesty push. So for at least the last 18 years.

Posted by: Clyde Shelton at April 29, 2024 08:20 PM (P5BPp)

313 The gamblers are a little more accurate and still give Biden the edge in electoral college. PA is key.
