Gun Thread: NoVAMoMe Registration is Open Edition!

042124 hello-moron scaled.jpg

Howdy, Y'all! Welcome to the wondrously fabulous Gun Thread! As always, I want to thank all of our regulars for being here week in and week out, and also offer a bigly Gun Thread welcome to any newcomers who may be joining us tonight. Howdy and thank you for stopping by! I hope you find our wacky conversation on the subject of guns 'n shooting both enjoyable and informative. You are always welcome to lurk in the shadows of shame, but I'd like to invite you to jump into the conversation, say howdy, and tell us what kind of shooting you like to do!

Holy Celebratory Shitballs! How in the ever-loving hell did it get to be 2024 NoVAMoMe Registration time?

With that, step into the dojo and let's get to the gun stuff below, shall we?

******

2024 NoVAMoMe
Alright, guys and gals, the long awaited and highly anticipated opening of 2024 NoVAMoMe registration is upon us! That's right, registration for the event of the season is open, which means you can register to attend! You see, in order to attend, you must first register, and then wait for June 8th, and then attend! It's really more of an application to attend based on whether we like you or not, but what have you got to lose?!

Q: Weasel, your world frightens and confuses us. How do we, how do you say, register for the NoVAMoMe?
A: Welp, given the intended audience we've tried to keep it pretty darn easy!

First, check your calendars for June 8th, 2024, and cancel anything already planned. Good so far? Then simply send an email to WeaselBell Productions expressing your interest, then sit back and anxiously wait for a reply. Our pal and most delightful 'ette and MoMe Hostess Extraordinaire bluebell will review your application and relevant permanent record notations to decide if you're NoVAMoMe material. If you're one of those selected, you'll get a reply with a link and secret password to the registration site containing all the pertinent details. Look these over and complete the simple registration form, following the PayPal link provided at the end of the form to make your payment. The $30 pp fee covers appetizers, dinner (BBQ Chicken, hamburdogs, sides, and dessert) plus an unlimited amount of fun! Since we must guarantee a headcount to the caterer, all registrations must be made online by May 26th. We are not accepting payment for registration at the door. You do not need a PayPal account to register and can pay with any major credit card.

A NoVAMoMe PSA from our pal bluebell

Hi folks - just a quick PSA. If you write for info about the MoMe, please give us a few words in the body of the email just so I know you are a Moron and not a spammer (moron). I do receive spam on this email account because it's sitting right here in my nic, so that's why I'm asking. I don't want to give our details to a spammer. Also, once registered, remember to check your spam folder if you don't receive a confirmation email.

Thanks.
bluebell

HINT: Try not to sound crazy in your email to bluebell.

Seriously, just send an email, go to the site with the password provided, fill out the simple form, and make your payment. If you forget, a link to the email is on the main page, left sidebar. If you do not sign up, bluebell will be disappointed. Weasel will be disappointed, too, but it's bluebell you need to worry about.

Win a Dream Date with Weasel!
Due to popular demand, we are again conducting a separate raffle for a Dream Date with Weasel This fabulous prize includes an entire day of shooting and personalized one-on-one handgun & rifle coaching and instruction at Weasel Acres on a mutually agreeable date with yours truly. The lucky winner will be able to not only bring and shoot their own weapons, but also try out a variety of WeaselWeapons using WeaselAmmo!

We will end the day with dinner at a good Mexican place in nearby Appomattox. The winner will be responsible for their travel to and from Central Virginia, hence the separate drawing.

Don't be a pathetic girly-man loser, register today!

Q: Weasel, anything else for 2024?
A: Why I'm glad you asked! There are in fact TWO things to mention for 2024.

First-o, we are again having a pre-party get-together the afternoon/evening before the main event. Details at the registration site.

Dos-o, we are again offering a NoVAMoMe commemorative mug for 2024 available only to NoVAMoMe participants!

We sincerely hope you can join the festivities. I promise you this event is as laid back and non-anxiety inducing as humanly possible, and nothing makes me happier than to meet new people who have been reluctant to join in the past. If sitting on the sidelines and just observing is your thing, you can do just that with zero pressure from anyone. I hope some of the past NoVAMoMe participants will jump in and share their thoughts on the event to inspire the scairdy-cat lurkers out there to throw caution to the wind and sign up!

That's it, people. Email WeaselBell Productions today!

Fundamentals

Guess what?! Fundamentals time!!! To-date we have covered stance, grip and sight alignment.

Q: Weasel, what is left besides yanking on the trigger like a monkey hopped-up on 8 balls?
A: You're not ready for trigger work. You can't handle trigger work.

Have you been practicing and building on the fundamentals covered so far? Every time you are introduced to a new or different skill or concept, it must be practiced to commit it to memory and this process never stops. Have you gone to the range and really focused on the things we have covered so far? Are you taking range notes on the things you have tried, noting what has worked and what hasn't worked? If not, why not? Shooting is a fun and interesting hobby, but to do it well certain skills must be learned, practiced and kept current. If you are the sort of shooter who goes to the range once a year for funsies and doesn't much care about results, then just skip down to the SEH gal section now. No point in reading further. However, if you are someone who wants to achieve a level of basic competency, and then maintain and improve upon it, you need to practice frequently. There isn't a shortcut, or 'one weird trick' that is going to help you.

Tough Love Department
And for Pete's sake, buying the latest 'new' gun isn't going to change much if you don't know how to shoot the gun you already have. I'm serious people. If you are having trouble or are not seeing repeatable results, buying a new gun to fix the problem is only going to give you less money for ammo and two guns you can't shoot. The problem is very likely you. It's never a popular discussion, but one I have had with a lot of new shooters on rifle teams. Chances are, spending a bunch of dough on the latest and greatest thing is only going to show results if you are already performing at a more advanced level. Learn the basic fundamentals of marksmanship, apply what you have learned on a regular basis, and all the other stuff like small groups and impressing range babes will take care of itself. Then go get a new gun.

So where does that leave us? Ah yes, trigger work.

I shoot with the trigger in the center, or maybe very slightly past, the pad of my index finger, which I think is the general consensus of how you're supposed to do it. I pull back smoothly and steadily until any slack is taken up and I am ready to break the shot, then continue past the break and pause for a second or two before allowing the trigger to reset. During the entire process, I am focusing all of my brain molecules on some aspect of fundamentals and not jiggling the gun around in the process. That's it. That's what I do and it seems to work for me. For those paying attention to their breathing rhythm, I try to time the shot about 95% of the way through the exhale. The reason? I do not want to end up waiting until the bottom of the cycle and then holding my breath as everything gets lined up if any final adjustment is needed.

Let's look at a couple of videos.

Will you look at that watch!

Tell time from space!!

SEALs need to tell time too! This guy makes some very good points.

One final (ha!) point from WeaselDoctrine; taking a bag o' guns to the range is fun, but is not at all conducive to developing and mastering basic marksmanship skills. Every gun has a different feel, whether it's from caliber and recoil, grip, sights or trigger mechanisms. Shooting three or four different guns in a single hour-long range session isn't training, it's really just confusing the issue. They all feel different because they are all different, and you are doing almost nothing to reinforce any of them into your memory, because the training is not additive. Rather, you have shot a lot of valuable ammo and received very little in return in the form of fundamentals development because each time you pick up a different gun, you're essentially starting from scratch. Splitting up your range time into little 10 or 15 minute segments firing different weapons gains you virtually nothing, and you will be hard pressed to reliably recall specifics of any of them.

If you're serious, focus on one thing at a time. Just my .02.

Guns of the Horde
First up, our pal Hairyback Guy shares a real beauty!

Here are pics of my Springfield Armory SA48 FAL in 5.56. Springfield Armory brought about 700 of these into the country back in the 1990s and every once in a while you will see one pop up for sale. Exactly like a FAL in 7.62, except the barrel and bolt face are of course different as well as a magazine well insert welded in place for 5.56 magazines. Weighs about 10 pounds but is a great shooter and very accurate out to 500 yards. Had wood furniture on it when I got her but I like the standard FAL buttstock and Brit pebble grain handguards which I installed along with a standard FAL flash hider.

Gun Thread Homework!

042124 homework scaled.jpg

Ok, this was fun a few weeks ago and a lot of you chose to participate, which does my old withered heart good! So I am going to ask you to watch this short video presentation sometime this week, and return next Sunday prepared to discuss your thoughts. Please don't comment on it tonight in order to give everyone who is interested a chance to watch and participate in the conversation. You will have a week to think about your reaction when in real life the decisions are being made in seconds.

This video is from an attorney in WA who gives the legal perspective on what you can and cannot do when your car is surrounded by a mob of peaceful protestors. Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to place yourself in the driver's situation and decide what you would have done a) without first watching lawyer-guy, and 2) what if anything you might have done differently after watching lawyer-guy.

Bonus Question: Do you know the relevant law(s) in your state? How does it differ from what was described in the video?

I hate to say it, but as this year goes on, I think the likelihood of our seeing these situations again will only go up. I truly believe it's a very good idea to think of these sort of scenarios and what your reaction might be in advance.

Cigar of the Week

042124 rhomboid Olmec 2 scaled.jpg

This week our pal rhomboid scores again with this excellent review of the Foundation Olmec Robusto

Foundation Cigar company's founder and blender Nick Melillo loves him some history. Several of his lines and individual sticks are named for historical objects, periods, or civilizations. I reviewed his Charter Oak shade (named for a famous tree in his home state of Connecticut) here a while back.

The Olmec (robusto, 5 X 50) has a toothy ( = somewhat rustic finish, with veins) wrapper, a dark chocolate brown from the San Andres region of Mexico. The Olmec civilization is believed to be among the first users of tobacco, and inhabited this region. Binder is Nicaraguan, filler "undisclosed". It's softly box-pressed. Construction is nice, burn was even, lots of smoke. The company considers it full-bodied, I'd say at least the stronger end of medium-full. For me the flavor started with a brief period of classic maduro cocoa notes, but soon shifted to predominantly earth, leather, and some hint of a spice I can't put my finger on (surprise!). I'd bet more sophisticated palates would pick up a lot more, and would enjoy this one. The Olmec maduro is available online for $13 and up.

Excellent, rhomboid! Thank you!

******

Here are some different online cigar vendors. You will find they not only carry different brands and different lines from those brands, but also varying selections of vitolas (sizes/shapes) of given lines. It's good to have options, especially if you're looking for a specific cigar.

Nicks Cigar World New!

A note about sources. The brick & mortar/online divide exists with cigars, as with guns, and most consumer products, with respect to price. As with guns - since both are "persecuted industries", basically - I make a conscious effort to source at least some of my cigars from my local store(s). It's a small thing, but the brick & mortar segment for both guns and tobacco are precious, and worth supporting where you can. And if you're lucky enough to have a good cigar store/lounge available, they're often a good social event with many dangerous people of the sort who own scary gunz, or read smart military blogs like this one. -rhomboid

Anyone have others to include? Perhaps a small local roller who makes a cigar you like? Send me your recommendation and a link to the site!

***Mail Bag***

This week's mailbag entry is from our pal WTM. I'm somewhat surprised this wasn't a game changer. (fyi - Weasel hates the term "game-changer")

042124 WTM mailbag scaled.jpg

Are there any historical weapons that were complete failures? Oh yeah. This weapon (The Krummlauf) was a German invention that was supposed to allow soldiers to shoot around corners. It seemed like a great idea, but it was a total failure. It would break after 150-300 rounds making it useless for long term use. The bullets would shatter in the gun causing a "shotgun" effect. It was a disaster of a weapon that never did any good.

18 Sadly, I will not be able to attend this years NoVAMoMe.

Also, no range report either. I can blame what ever I caught on my trip down to Texas the other weekend. Took over a week to shake and only now am I getting back to normal.

That being said I really should invest in an at home training system. I spend 2 days a week working from home, who says I cannot take the pistol out for a little practice while reconciling accounts? Just have to make sure the camera is turned off when on a Teams meeting. :-p

What system would the horde recommend?

20 Range report for the week: Strapped on a reasonably sized watch and went to work on grip and trigger control with my handgun. Incremental improvement underway. Getting to mechanics that feel more comfortable and natural. Glimpses of very, very good and periodic reminders of humility. The instant feedback of seeing the hole in the paper is unambiguous. It is either good or it isn't. The rangebabe I was shooting with did well too. Progress... Thanks to the horde for suggestions last week. Looking forward to watching the trigger control videos in the content.

I bet most of us are still hung on thinking in terms of 2019 dollars. We're no longer there unfortunately, and $1500 is, using food inflation numbers, a $750 or so gun from back then.

So you might regret not buying it at these cheap prices.

54 Good evening fellow enthusiasts. I have not been to the range in 3 weeks! Bummer.
I did however obtain the Holosun Carry MRS green dot for my new lavender Glock. It was a bit expensive but looks like everything required to put it on is in the neat little box it came in. The dot is crystal clear and from what I have been reading, the green dot is especially good for 29 year old eyes.
I also got a set of electronic ear buds. Only problem is that the parts are so tiny I'm afraid to open the little plastic bags. But I will get it done because I intend to make up for my lack of range time next weekend.

This. You'll meet people (though, I suppose you don't have to meet anyone other than the check-in folks) who are quiet and some who are loud and some who carry squirt guns. And pretty soon you'll be enjoying yourself.

The food is always great, as is the booze (if you desire). It's a great time even if the weather turns wet.

61 Fundamentals!

Went to the range for the first time this month and focused on trigger pull.

Did the "same hole" drill. Five shots at 3,5,7,10 and 15 yards each, trying to hit the same hole. I did ok. I focused on pulling the trigger straight back, smoothly, on the last part of an exhale. I also pulled the trigger about ever 3-4 seconds, which is really slow.

Took a few shots to get back in the groove. Was shooting my EMP Ronin. Good pistol.

86 Splitting up your range time into little 10 or 15 minute segments firing different weapons gains you virtually nothing
The "let's take a bunch of guns" is good for two things (aside from sometimes it's just fun), IMO:
1) Cycling through some firearms that you don't shoot often. You're making sure they work and that you remember where the buttons are and what the ammo looks like.
2) Familiarization. I want to get my wife to the range and let her shoot a few different types so she can just have an idea what they will feel like and can figure out how to operate them if she needs to.

Of course, shooting in those ways (assuming you're not the one being familiarized) requires solid fundamentals, so you don't end up just throwing a bunch of lead away.

I did somewhat violate WeaselDoctrine in that I fired more than one pistol during yesterday's and today's outings. I hadn't fired my Ruger LCP mouse gun in quite a while, and since it's my T shirt and shorts weather grab and go to Walmart piece, I put about 50 rounds through it. It has a Crimson Trace laser attached that is pretty useless in bright sunshine, so I mostly used the vestigial sights. Actually, not too bad. Definitely minute of bad guy. It is an uncomfortable gun to shoot, though, and I don't even have extra-large hands. And the trigger sucks. Of course, all triggers suck if you compare them to a 1911.

You'll need to clean the area(s) throughly, use some thread locker (I prefer Vibra-Tite VC3, but blue Loc Tite will work), and an inch-pound torque wrench. (Probably either 18 or 25 inch-pounds, but the instructions will have the manufacturer's recommendation.)

-

Torque wrench = apply loc-tite, tighten it down until it stops, then give it 1/8th to 1/4 or so more of a turn.

Label plastic bag, put tool in plastic bag, put bag in safe.

In this instance, the torque "wrench" is used instead of a screwdriver. You want to get the screws set to a particular (and even) of tightness. The instructions should say what that is in "inch-pounds". The recommended inch-pound setting may be different for the adapter plate to slide screws and the sight to adapter plate screws.

126 I came home from Chantilly w/ a 1959 Colt Detective Special. Although the finish and grips are well worn, the rifling of the barrel still looks sharp. I took it to this afternoon's range session to test fire it. At 10 yards, I was able to get good hits on the target firing in double action. I tried speeding up my shots and saw my accuracy go down the drain. Although it's still a viable carry gun, this Detective Special is more of a collector's item than an everyday carry piece.

136 Hello Weasel and horde....apologies for my tardiness, just some business that had to be addressed. Have I been to the range? Yes, indeed. Still working on the grip. Why? I thought I had a fix, but then TRex keeps saying "Weasel buddy Geoff" says blah, blah, blah...so I am now, at least according to TRex, shooting with a Weasel buddy Geoff approved grip. They don't necessarily go where I intend, but they are all clustered, generally within the black circle. Of course, I have a reliable stream of strays. I learned this weekend that I tend to tense my shoulders before shooting, and when I breathe and relax, the bullets find their way closer to the intended target. So, baby step progress and much more to learn....

I used to be "that guy" but I have been drastically downsizing. I am down to two guns safes now and I am concentrating on PCC's and lever guns at the present. Almost all of my long range stuff has been sold. Old eyes and not many places left to shoot over 200 yards are the reasons for that.

And you know who has been looking for a pistol? sra blaster, that's who. She wanted a pistol for her man (that would be me). Yeah, I know, I said maybe I wanted a tractor instead, but we were there and there was exactly one P226 Legion RXP in the whole show. One. And it was listed at MSRP which they all are online. Our range/gun shop marks theirs up $60. So we have been waiting for it to come down in price a bit.

sra blaster asks "what's your best price?" Guy goes and gets the boss and they took $105 off the price -which was the number she was looking for. Soooo.

Once I get a different clamp I can put on a regular tripod (it also seems to count on you having dresser space or something to set everything down) it will be used a LOT.

173 So, range report: Massive Failure edition

I went out the day before to confirm data on the loads I was running through the 06. (178 grain Hornady ELD Match @ 2675fps) Data confirmed, I headed home, cleaned the rifle, figuring the sight in shots would take care of the fouling needed to bring the rifle back into zero.

I thought I had things lined up after a few practice shots, then started shooting for score @600 yards, 5 shots downrange at a 10" plate, and zero hits. It was so bad, I quit the match after my first 5 shots, because, as I told everyone, "No reason to keep throwing lead downrange when you don't know where the shots are going." No idea what's gone wrong and will hit the range next Friday to see if I can work it out.

A 10" plate at 600 yards should be a walk in the park, at this point. Instead, that plate had me for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ah, so it goes.

Speaking of color, sra blaster wanted a "skin" for her P320 to help differentiate our P320s. She got this really subtle "Galactic Landscape" skin that is not flashy, but if you look at it you see the shades of purple and the stars.

And the new P226 went right to the range. Right out of the box, that thing is a shooter! It is very, very nice. I like it a LOT. I have a classic West German P226 that I like, but this one is much, much better.

And now the laager contains 2 Sig P226s, 2 Sig P320s, and 2 Sig P365s. I guess we are a Sig family now.

Situational awareness.

LA is also very big, so your experience will depend a lot on where you are. Stay on the freeways unless you know where you're going. GPS directions don't always take into account the risk profile of local neighborhoods. If you don't have contacts there but need help in a pinch, give us a shout. We have a few friends there who haven't left the state yet. Happy travels.

189 If I had to compare, this new P226 shoots like swa's Kimber Aegis Elite. I mean just hard to miss with it. And that Kimber was, umm, around $1500.

Someone upthread asked how much Kimbers are - they cover the market pretty well. I have seen sub $700 Kimbers on up with $2000+. Not all the way into Wilson Combat or Nighthawk territory. though.

SRA blaster wanted to try full power .44 Magnum loads. So I brought my S&W pre-Model 29 to try w/ some Underwood defensive loads: 180 grain jacketed hollow points moving at 1680 feet per second at the muzzle. For comparison, the .44 Special loads we shot were 240 grain FMJ moving at a lazy 825 feet per second. The first Magnum load SRA blaster fired gave her a bit of a shock. The muzzle blast and concussion from those .44 Magnum defense loads will rock your world. But she came back and tried a couple more Magnum rounds before calling it a day.

216 So, I have major problems that I am confronting so no range time for me. BUT...

As a result of Eclipse Day, I pulled out from my mom's house my three guns that I left there in a Pelican case after a range visit in February. (It was leave them there or fly with them to VA and then take them into areas where they were and are verboten, like federal property and the Soviet Socialist Republic of MD.) So...I need to clean them to fully have them reconstituted and pressed back into service. Cleaning began with the Beretta because it wants lots of lubrication and does not take well to dry firing. I have two more to go but I'll be done with that this week.

Looking at range time next month after the retirement has passed.

Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at April 21, 2024 08:36 PM (SycPA)

217 Today I kept hearing weasel in the back of my head - "fundamentals." Oddly enough, the one I needed to keep working on and overtly thinking of was trigger finger placement. I find when I wrap my finger around the trigger and get the crease of the first joint around it, I jerk it off target. When I focus on using the pad of my finger, it shoots where I aim it.

220 So, I hope not to anger weasel-San...

There's a couple kinds of range visits.

One is when people bring all kinds of fun, funky, never handled (by me) guns of all types and calibers and I get to fire a few rounds and see how I do and what feels right.

Two is when you are actually training yourself to fire a certain firearm consistently. That's the one gun day.

I like both. But I do spend more time with only a couple of my guns, the ones I actually carry.

342 Hullo!

Guns!

I'm late! Sorry. But having a puppy means much less free time for playing online.

I want to praise my Don Hume holster...to a point. I don't enjoy carrying in kydex, though kydex makes the draw easier. But a fine leather holster can make carrying a handgun much easier. So Don Hume doesn't make holster for the PSA Dagger but I hoped that buying a Glock 23 holster would work. Well...not perfectly. The suppressor-height sights on the red-dot mounted PSA dagger snags on the leather. Sometimes. Not always but...just often enough.

Something to maybe worry about but I'm not as fast as I used to be and the holster doesn't actually kill my draw, just slows it. So...so far I'm keeping it. Until I change my mind. Again. I have a lot of handguns to carry....

346 No Shooting Report this week, alas. But, these (in reverse order).

I. I really REALLY like the pistol grip on Hairyback Guy's FN/FAL. That CURES the one thing I've never liked about those rifles; the radical grip angle as "from factory".

II. Y'all remember Bernadette Peters... roles in Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, etc? She played a one-night show here in Galveston, last week. "A Night With Bernadette Peters". No I didn't get to see the show.

But I *was* her driver, returning she, her Personal Manager and her Sound Engineer, back to IAH Bush Intercontinental Airport, for their flights back to NYC.

Turns out though, the Sound Engineer turned out to be a formerly, very active IDPA and Cowboy Action Shooter, in his previous California life. He still has two safes stuffed with guns out there, in fact. We had quite the enjoyable conversation along the way. Ms. Peters even acknowledged appreciating his interests in Our Sport.

And, I was able to give Mr. Engineer a bit of a run through on the "Blank, Featureless Wall" and double-action revolver approach to the Dry Fire Drill. (with snap caps, of course!)

347 RI Red, check out the Hodgdon reloading data center for your load. I shoot 150's and I end up around a gn less than max load. I haven't changed my 308 load in years and all my other cartridges end up about the same, a gn or so light.

348 I attended my first MoMe in VA in 2020 after moving to MD 3 weeks prior. A month later, having never shot a gun in my life, I was shooting pistols and rifles at an out door range in Manassas. Three months later, in October, I found myself in Texas getting a hug from Ben Had.
Talk about life changing experiences....

Assembled the two PSA AR kits on hand. Always a bit of trepidation but as it turns out I shouldn't have had any.

Both ran flawlessly. The build was actually pretty easy, interestingly enough. Although my dad taught me how to field strip and clean a 1911 as a teenager so guns are mostly tools.

He had asked me "so, whadday do when you're not driving?"

Reading things, writing things, building things...shooting things. He kinda glommed onto that last one, like a drowning man to a life-ring. As he's residing now in New York City, one would certainly commiserate with his plight.

And so, the conversation, began.

We do have friends in the most unexpected places.

438 We can go armed at Waffle House in SC, right?
Not that we need to, as long as Wendy is working.

SC is now a constitutional carry state, but there are exceptions. (BTW, church is one unless you have permission.) I can't remember if Waffle House is on the list of exceptions...

440 Re: The $1500 gun you want.

I had a couple 9mm. One was a Beretta that shoots high and right, no matter what I do. I also have a .357 that can stop traffic passing by the range by sound alone. I took it in my head that I wanted a long-slide 9mm that would extract better performance from a 9mm cartridge so I wouldn’t need any new ammo.

A nearby gun range offers rentals, and they had the long-slide Glock (I forget the model), so I went to try it. I had a purchase all planned, optics and all. I wanted so badly to like the weapon, but it just wasn’t working. So I asked to try an Sig and this silly looking orange and black gun. The Sig was a work of art, but I wondered about a single-stack 9.

I tried the orange gun first. It pointed like a finger, it fired with no recoil at all. It had the most amazing trigger, and it fit my hand like a glove. When I went back, someone else had the Sig, and I was on my way to buying a CZ Tactical Sport Orange, at somewhere around $1200.

What is it worth to find a firearm that hits what you point it at? It is the only handgun that I’m surprised to find myself at the end of a magazine, it’s so effortless to use.

I’ve seen them in the $1200-1400 range. I paid $1000 for mine…and it was still stamped with the insignia of the unit I was deployed with in Afghanistan.
