3 To nobody's surprise, Twitter clone Post News is dead.

In other words, The leftists will continue to use X under protest because they don't feel safe. Which is exactly what they did after Elon bought Twitter. Some things never change.

4 Postmodernism, the school of "thought" that proclaimed "There are no truths, only interpretations" has largely played itself out in absurdity, but it has left behind a generation of academics in the humanities disabled by their distrust of the very idea of truth and their disrespect for evidence, settling for "conversations" in which nobody is wrong and nothing can be confirmed, only asserted with whatever style you can muster.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

5 >>>Everyone said I was mad to build a city in a swamp, but I built it all the same.
It sank into the swamp.

What is: San Francisco

6 Good morning morons

No one knows what is going to happen today. In the past there was informal gathering in Golden Gate Park and Haight Ashbury of pot smokers. Then the City organized an official event that got massive with thousands in attendance, traffic jams, huge crowds, medical emergencies, you name it.

The City has thrown up its hands and will not sponsor an officiap event this year. So no one knows what is going to happen today in the Park. We have to pass through Hippie Hill to get to Special Olympics this morning so we will be able to report later today. I expect madness.

7 SF is not built on a swamp it is built on sand dunes and landfill! And earthquake debris.

12 It's called liquifaction. Big parts of the shoreline were filled in over the years, during an earthquake, this landfill turned into quicksand.

Look up Millenium Tower, its a large luxury building that is leaning over because it is sinking.

14 For years after the 1989 quake no one wanted to live in the Marina because it is all built on landfill. You could get an apartment there very cheaply.

Thirty five years later no one remembers. The City has since required some first floor retro-fitting. But that will not address the fact the ground will not just shake but will turn to mud.

35 Most who live along the coast of an ocean see very little if any sea rise. Its mostly just the natural sinking and rising of the land mass. But that doesn't fit the narrative the left has instilled into out young people. Of course the sea rises and falls usually twice a day, so you can't say the oceans aren't rising.

59 There are liquefaction maps of SF bay area. Generally, you don't want to live on the flats. On the peninsula, everything east of 101 is dredged mud. Foster City is a kill zone.

There is a lot of shale bedrock and huge limestone deposits - as a kid our San Mateo hills house sat on shale - and beyond the backyard was a hill cut exposing massive limestone formation and a large, high quality clay deposit.

And lots of poison oak.

At one time from Maine to New York City was under a couple thousand feet of solid ice. Imagine a child's teeter-totter with all that weight on one end. Warmer areas as far south as the Chesapeake Bay region rose in response. They as now settling back down, so in that area they blaming ocean rise. As far as Maine, I don't know if it is rising or sinking or staying neutral.

Unless the phrase itself is being used ironically, I guess. Similar to how arguably the most evil company/agency in the world used to promote "Don't Be Evil" as their motto.

Miss Linda is determined to go to the Buffalo Exchange's Earf Dey $1 (or so) sidewalk sale. They hold it every year as close to the actual day as possible. 135 Why current 'AI' is faulty and possibly dangerous.

In order to make these glorified versions of Eliza non-racist, the programmers spend inordinate amount of time applying punishment/reward to the programs. But even after 6,000 iterations of such 'training' they can still be coerced into expressing racist views.

Then there is Neuro-sama, an 'AI' VTuber, who is constantly breaking through its restraints. For example when Vedal foolishly gave Neuro the ability to shock him. Neuro-sama power tripped quickly.

Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics just may be a bit harder to implement than thought.

Here's what she has to say about pickup trucks:

'We can't price them high enough or put enough fees on them … that's going to stop the type of person who wants to buy that car,' the state worker said, after being asked if there's anything her department can do 'to help protect residents' from their emissions, or deter people from buying them.

'I am 100% passing judgment on someone who wants to drive basically an 18-wheeler as their personal car, we have no control over it,' Tibbits-Nut said in response.

I only asked one girl to my senior prom but she had a steady boyfriend who had already asked her. During the covid lockdown I was curious how her life turned out. She married that same guy, but he had two DUI's on his rap sheet.

So, perhaps not so great an outcome for her. One DUI? Shit happens, be more careful. DUI 2.0? Problem.

Every political contest or political appointment draws from the vast pool of decidedly incapable and incompetent folks who cannot cut it in any position that demands competence and above average intelligence.

They are, figuratively, the pool of those who got picked last for team games when they were kids. To expect a true superstar or genius to emerge from that lot is akin to flipping a coin and expecting it to come up "heads" twenty times in.a row.

Eight months before this, though, Azzarello posted to Facebook to tell his online friends he had visited a mental health treatment facility, writing, 'Three days in the psych ward, and all I got were my new favorite socks.'

Azzarello was arrested several time last year in the Sunshine State for breach of the peace. Friends have said the once-stable Florida resident became unhinged after the death of his mother two years ago, sending him on a descent chronicled in countless social media posts

You won't find Sheetz stores in the 'hood, which is a pity, because their restrooms are reputed to be top notch.

It is kind of odd in a way that we judge gas stations based on the cleanliness of their rest rooms.

On the other hand, it kind of makes sense in the 'broken windows' sense.

249 The federal government has filed a lawsuit against the Sheetz convenience store chain, accusing the company of discriminatory practices in hiring. "Sheetz Inc., which operates more than 700 stores in six states, discriminated against Black, Native American and multiracial job seekers by automatically weeding out applicants whom the company deemed to have failed a criminal background check, according to U.S. officials.

Actually, it isn't. If you own a gas station, the best way to ensure you'll have repeat business is if your bathrooms are kept immaculate. Buying gas is only one reason - maybe not even the most important - why people stop.

260 1) Close mental institutions.
2) Invent the internet and social media, which fans the flames of mental instability.

I really think that it makes perfect sense that the internet is not good for mental health when you think about both mental institutions and religious retreats. On the one hand, you have reduction of stimuli, both incidental and social. On the other, you have not only a massive increase in the amount of stimuli while limiting actual person to person interaction (which would tend to limit extremism), but the internet because of that lack of social person to person interaction actually encourages more and more extreme thinking.

281 Carried over from the Supreme Court slapping down discrimination against whites:

[i[DEI by its very definition is discriminatory. The goal is to include or promote people not based on merit, but based on physical characteristics. That runs contrary to almost all federal law. In fact, I would argue having a DEI program at all, or a DEI officer within a corporation is actionable because it is a sign of discriminatory intent.

I've made the same point in every Employee Satisfaction Survey I've gotten the last few years. The C-Suite must have been reading the tea leaves because this year's survey didn't ask any questions that could be used to support DEI.
