Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 4/15/24![]() On Saturday, Iran initiated a barrage of drones and ballistic missiles at Israel. Thankfully, most of them were successfully intercepted and caused minimal damage. Of course, in a stunning move, President Biden is pushing Israel not to retaliate. It's hard to imagine why Biden would do that, except when you consider that Joe Biden has been appeasing Iran since his days as Barack Obama's vice president. With that in mind, it's also not surprising—though it's still shocking— that Joe Biden not only had prior knowledge of Iran's assault on Israel but also technically gave it the green light under certain conditions, according to a report from the Jerusalem Post.Matt Margolis, who I thought was one of the few astute pundits at PJ Media can't seem to figure out why Biden is throwing Israel under the bus? Really? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he forgot to add the "/sarc" tag after that question. The answers are simple: First, going back decades to when Menachem Begin told then-Senator Biden to go piss up a rope when it came to the Delaware degenerate's threats to withhold aid, arms and materiel because he was angry that they didn't allow the "Palestinians" to slaughter them, Biden hates Israel. That hatred today is amplified by orders of magnitude because of his puppet master Obama's winning combination of being a Muslim and Stalinist. Second, we have the decades-long self-hatred and Israel-hatred of Foggy Bottom which views American global diplomatic and military supremacy somehow as a threat to the peace of the world. Hence, the desire to replace Israel with Iran as the dominant power in the Middle East. And that goes hand in hand with the desire to replace America as the beacon of freedom, prosperity and human advancement with a neo-Dark Age tyranny combining the worst elements of globalism, communism and Islam that in their eyes is the absolute moral authority and "the right side of history." Third, it's a temporary political calculus because the Kalorama Klown Komintern is freaking out over the growing possibility that Donald Trump might actually overcome the cheat factor this November and return to the Oval Office. Most shockingly is a growing fear that Michigan, the former industrial powerhouse and Mecca – pun intended – of American industrial and capitalist know-how which since 1945 devolved into a burnt out husk of squalor, decay and a growing Muslim populace that might very well turn it into an Islamic no-go zone replete with sharia law (hell bent on spreading that madness coast to coast), might very well abandon Biden come November. That is, the Muslim populace of Dearbornistan will abandon Biden, regardless of what Whitmer, Nessel and what's-her-face MI sec of state can and will do to drag his carcass across the finish line by hook or crook. At every turn since 10/7, Biden has tried to thread the needle of "support" for the state of Israel (only to keep pro-Israel Jewish Democrats from cutting off the campaign bucks) while keeping his insane Marxist and Muslim constituencies happy by condemning and abandoning Israel. As Israel wisely and sanely ignored the calls for a cease fire, which in practical terms meant surrender to Hamas, Biden and company got caught in a pile up at the intersectionality intersection. Yet, despite increasingly anti-Israel rhetoric to actual abandonment at the UN Security Council, the the Marxist-Muslim constituents were still unimpressed and upped the ante. So now, short of putting American boots on the ground in Gaza to help Hamas, which I thought could have been a real possibility with the construction of that port to ship "aid" in, Biden and company gave a green light to the mullahs to attack Israel. Late last week, CBD and I mused about what might happen as Israel moved in for the final assault on Hamas' last four battalions and we both agreed that Iran's proxy Hezbollah would likely attack from bases in Lebanon. But think about it for a moment and it bears repeating: Iran actually told Biden beforehand that they were going to attack Israel. And Biden's translators – one from gibberish to English and the other from English to Farsi – told the Iranians to "keep it within certain limits." And you don't need me to translate that but just for the record, it means "Open season on Jews with no limits!" Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants might actually have allowed a regional war in the Middle East that could well go nuclear to happen. All because he fears losing Michigan in November. Remember, Iran directly attacked Israel, and not via proxies. That absolutely demands a response by Israel. What that will be or what countermoves after that by Iran, and God forbid Junta-controlled America and the west, will be is anyone's guess. SEFTON UPDATE: Well, I'm in good spirits, feeling no physical pain and my cognitive, speech and motor functions remain normal. My initial consult with the neurosurgeon will be on the 24th, so the fact that experts who read, breathe, eat and sleep MRIs day in and day out have not put me at the head of the line I take as a positive sign. For sure, I expect they'll have to do some sort of biopsy to see exactly what they're dealing with and from there, I'll have a better picture of how they will deal with it and the prognosis. Until then, I'll be here and again, I can't express my gratitude for all your prayers and words of support. Keep the faith.Iran informed Turkey in advance of its planned operation against Israel, a Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters on Sunday, adding that Washington had conveyed to Tehran via Ankara that any action it took had to be "within certain limits." Turkey, which has denounced Israel for its campaign on Gaza, said earlier on Sunday that it did not want a further escalation of tensions in the region. The Turkish source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had spoken to both his US Iranian counterparts in the past week to discuss the planned Iranian operation, adding Ankara had been made aware of possible developments. Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke to Fidan to make clear that escalation in the Middle East was not in anyone's interest. "Iran informed us in advance of what would happen. Possible developments also came up during the meeting with Blinken, and they (the US) conveyed to Iran through us that this reaction must be within certain limits," the source said.. . . So, let's recap the facts here: Joe Biden told Iran's leaders not to attack Israel, but they ignored him. Then he said they could attack Israel with some restrictions, though they clearly ignored that as well. Now, Biden is telling Israel not to retaliate. In short, Biden is still appeasing Iran. Why is Joe Biden still kowtowing to Iran and throwing Israel under the bus? I can't answer that, but I know that Israel can't listen to Biden because doing so threatens its existence.

A NEW one:
Bishop stabbed, multiple others injured in attack during church service in western Sydney By Freya Noble; 9 News; 9:34pm Apr 15, 2024 A religious leader has been stabbed and up to three others injured in an attack at a church in Sydney's west. The attack happened at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley just after 7pm while a bishop was giving a service that was being livestreamed online. The injured include four men, believed to be aged in their 60s, 50s, 30s, and 20s. They have all been taken to hospital. There are also reports the emergency department at Liverpool Hospital is in lockdown. The church had advertised tonight's sermon was being delivered by His Grace Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel. He was due to give an Assyrian Bible preaching that started at 7pm. https://tinyurl.com/2ha9s3n5 Posted by: andycanuck (vtyCZ) at April 15, 2024 07:43 AM (vtyCZ) 9

[continued] The bishop is popular but divisive among the Orthodox community, and many of his sermons are shared online.
He attracted attention during the coronavirus lockdown in June 2021 when he criticised the restrictions and vaccine mandates. There is no indication what sparked tonight's attack. NSW Police confirmed they had a man in custody. Posted by: andycanuck (vtyCZ) at April 15, 2024 07:43 AM (vtyCZ) Posted by: JT at April 15, 2024 07:44 AM (T4tVD) 12

The ordeal was also livestreamed on the church's Facebook account, with the graphic footage showing a Christian leader being attacked while saying Mass.
A man dressed in all black is seen approaching the Bishop before pulling out an instrument and stabbing him in the face. The man then proceeded to stab him several more times in the chest after the Bishop fell to the ground. Panicked worshippers were seen rushing to his aid. The victim is believed to be H.G. Mar Mari Emmanuel, who had been delivering Assyrian Bible Preaching at the church from 7pm, about 15 minutes before the attack. The four patients include a man in his 50s, a man in his 30s, a man in his 20s, and a man in his 60s, ambulance media confirmed. All four are being treated for lacerations, while the man in his 50s has been taken to Liverpool Hospital. "The injured people suffered non-life threatening injuries and are being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics," police said. Posted by: andycanuck (vtyCZ) at April 15, 2024 07:45 AM (vtyCZ) 17

Rule #1 — Everything is an op. The attack by Iran was staged by all accounts so defense contractors get richer and everybody has a priority reason to pass more aid money for Israel (and Ukraine… though no one will explain what one has to do with the other). But the people at State who think they were so clever are in fact stupid… the game is not a game and it’s very dangerous. That was real ordinance flying around and IMO Israel has to respond. It was an act of war by Iran directly on Israel…… the Biden team couldn’t be a worse combination of evil and incompetent if they tried

Why is Joe Biden still kowtowing to Iran and throwing Israel under the bus? I can't answer that, but I know that Israel can't listen to Biden because doing so threatens its existence.
++++ You can answer it. The answer is clear, and has been clear since at least 2012 to anyone paying even a modicum of attention. You just don't *want* to answer it, because to answer it will shatter your worldview. So instead of finding the obvious answer, you're putting on a Mickey-the-Dunce routine. This is not to snow your readers, but to snow yourself. The answer is really quite simple: The United States is allied with Iran, has common cause with Iran and seeks the success of Iran. I hate to break it to you, but this is answer. The US wants Iran to emerge victorious as the new hegemon of the Middle East. It has been this way since Valerie Jarrett took over foreign policy along with various chunks of the US government when she was running Obama. Hate to break it to you. This is not internally conflict-free - there are lots of vested interests, technological requirements, history, ideological preferences, etc. within the state - but the Iran-boosters are on top. Deal with it. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at April 15, 2024 08:02 AM (HnUIn) 58

The article under Second Amendment regarding high capacity magazines brings this up. A Texas border rancher was awakened to noise from the kitchen, armed himself, and discovered twenty illegal border crossers helping themselves to food. He chased them off, and later stated he was worried as he was armed with a revolver only holding six rounds. Next time somebody states nobody needs a high capacity magazine bring this up.

WSJ- Boomers Bought Up the Big Homes. Now They’re Not Budging. Many empty-nesters are staying put rather than downsizing, keeping housing inventory tight...older homeowners downsizing in droves wouldn’t actually solve the overarching issue that there are not enough homes on the market. Instead, it would likely lead to more competition for smaller homes. It disgusts me to think that our society is so calculating when it comes to our behavior. It's like we're tagged like they do to wild animals. During Covid before vaccines we were caged animals. People in my state went on living and gathering while we were isolated. I’m afraid some preferred it that way. Out group will always be the problem children. It’s exhausting. Utter horseshit. Private equity has been buying up homes for land banking, and air BnB owners likely take more homes out of circulation than aging boomers. in Colorado, there is a dearth of condos. Developers won't build them...silly Democrats in our state insist the developers build quality condos as opposed to crummy, poorly built ones that fall apart around our knees. Stuttering has to do with how your brain interprets your own spoken words. When you stutter, your brain tells you that you are mispronouncing a word, so you stop and try again. BREAKING: Former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz says Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump is the “weakest” case he’s seen in 60 years. Fox News host Sean Hannity prompted the former law professor to analyze the case from a “legal standpoint” due to Bragg’s attempt to increase the charges against Trump. “I’ve been doing this for 60 years, Sean. Teaching criminal cases, defending criminal cases, writing about criminal cases — this is, by far, the weakest criminal case I have ever seen in my 60 years. There is nothing here. There is no misdemeanor, there is no felony, there is no federal crime. The feds refused to prosecute — even Bragg refused to prosecute until some of his young progressive woke prosecutors demanded that he prosecute,” Dershowitz stated. why
Posted by: Don Black at April 15, 2024 08:12 AM (oCjPU) ++++ Many reasons. Some are practical. Iran is big and relatively advanced and has plenty of oil. It can't produce it well, but it could with some generous (and lucrative) help from the West. It also has a large population and could be used to keep the region in line - Iran's line, anyway - if the country were unfettered. Some are ideological. The Left have never liked Israel, and with the Arabs (mostly due to observing the threat that Tehran poses) moving toward detente if not reconciliation with Israel, the Arabs are on the shit list. The Left has *never* been happy that Israel is an ally. That is a holdover from a prior age. They accepted it because they had to - they needed the money and openly backing Arab barbarism wouldn't have been politically viable at the time. It isn't unviable now (though it's now more Persian barbarism than Arab, but that's a meaningless nuance in this context). But there's also the academic lust over it. Boffins have been predicting the inevitable rise of Iran and Brazil for decades. There is an almost monomaniacal fascination with those countries, and the intelligentsia hates being wrong. It didn't want to. The result might be that Israel now is less safe from another onslaught by Iran. How many defensive anti-missile and anti-air munitions does Israel now have available vs. the number of missiles and drones Iran does? ...To downsize would require inventory. Where are they going to?
Posted by: rickb223 at April 15, 2024 08:15 AM (0hu/3) ++++ Inventory is a self-solving problem. At some point you need more houses, of course, but inventory moves a lot faster than construction. Markets exist, as much as the government likes to pretend otherwise. Many empty-nesters aren't staying put because they want to, but because they can't afford to move. If you want to "downsize" in retirement, it requires that your current property can clear enough cash to retire the mortgage *and* buy your next place outright (or with only a small mortgage you can manage on your pension). Selling also costs. To get that price will likely require investment - that "updated kitchen" and whatnot - and that investment might make the math stop working. In most markets, selling the big house won't leave enough money leftover to buy the smaller place if the owner has done cash-out refis. Boomers did this a lot, and are generally not a debt-averse generation. Many of them are now stuck. They can hold on and manage the decline, but not move. For those people, their heirs will have to deal with fairly dilapidated properties. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at April 15, 2024 08:27 AM (HnUIn) 164
I have zero confidence that a NY jury will acquit Trump even if the charges are ridiculous. It’s a sad commentary on our current state of affairs but Trump cannot get anything resembling a fair trial in NY…. The judge is against him already and so is the jury pool. I wonder what his appeal options are because I believe sadly a conviction is a foregone conclusion

The result might be that Israel now is less safe from another onslaught by Iran.
How many defensive anti-missile and anti-air munitions does Israel now have available vs. the number of missiles and drones Iran does? I'm betting Iran has a significant numerical advantage right now. And how motivated is the junta to provide assistance to Israel again unless there's some sort of "deal" with regards to the surviving Hamas militants/civilians? Posted by: Martini Farmer at April 15, 2024 08:22 AM (Q4IgG) ++++ Sharing intelligence about an imminent attack with the target of that attack is something one does only for an ally. The United States is not an ally of Israel. Not anymore. When Israel launches a retaliatory strike - which it probably will - it will likely take great pains to prevent the US from knowing about it, because the US *will* inform Iran about it because the United States is an ally of Iran. Note that Iran chose to tell the US about this. It did so because it knew it was safe to do so, and helped the US save face by engaging in the defense activities and pretend to be something it isn't while still enjoying full US support. It was diplomatically shrewd of Iran, and it worked because Iran - unlike US pundits, apparently - understand the reality. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at April 15, 2024 08:32 AM (HnUIn) 180

Why should I sell something I worked my entire life for, so some limp wristed college graduate can have it without working for it? Posted by: rickb223 at April 15, 2024 08:32 AM (0hu/3) ++++ Because you want to? Because it is in line with your goals? If this is how you feel about your house, then obviously you shouldn't sell it and downsize. Who cares about the buyer? When the buyer pays the money and gets the keys, it's his property, becomes his burden and the subject of his desires for changes. Whether it's a trust funder or an entitled commie PhD or a workaday guy needing more space for his family is irrelevant to the transaction. For many people, selling the host and moving to a smaller, easier-to-mange place is very much in line with their ambitions and desires. Many are unable to do so because they don't actually have money (cash or equity) to pull it off in a way that makes the math work. Posted by: Lizzy at April 15, 2024 08:37 AM (Kl1FI) ++++ I think this is the real problem with the narrative. There are two narrative choices for this phenomenon, and the phenomenon is noteworthy because a lot of people planned to sell the big old place and downsize to help fund retirement but aren't doing so. One narrative is the one in this article and as you point out, it is rooted in entitlement. "You're supposed to do this and I don't like that you're not doing this, and that's the real problem because I am entitled to the reality of you making the decision I assumed you would make." That's utter and unalloyed bullshit. Another narrative is, "I want to do this but interest rates, my debt levels, the local price level and investment requirements to do it make it unviable. I am stuck and not too happy about it, but it is what it is and I need to hold on." That's closer to the mark for most people in this situation, but isn't red enough for the press. Prices will have to fall considerably for the market to start moving. Housing has to move in the opposite direction from interest rates.
Posted by: Thomas Paine at April 15, 2024 08:48 AM (dpBXp) ++++ Yup, which is why inventory is so low. People are stuck. Rates are too high to buy into a new place affordably, so people are staying put even if they don't want to. Property is moving, but moving slowly and so plenty of people who would move otherwise aren't. That low inventory and slow movement is holding price up. Once people are forced to move - a layoff or bankruptcy wave, for example - forced selling will drop price. Then the "sideline" inventory - the "I could sell but don't think it's worth it right now" folks - will pour onto the market to get what they can before prices decline even more. That pushes price down faster. Right now, inventory is supporting price and selling speed is helping keep inventory down. When there's some event that compels selling at higher volumes, price will drop markedly and quickly. Iran's spectacular display of weakness is a major and humiliating self-own, a loss of face for all the world to see. Who would even think of spinning it as a "measured" response, when it is so obviously a total failure, both militarily and politically?
What has to be freaking Israel out is missiles were able to hit 2 air bases - probably the most heavily protected air bases in the world. Only runway damage - but showing Israel Iran can get past their Arrow, David Sling and Iron Dome. With his embassy attack, Netanyahu is attempting to divert attention from the genocide in Gaza by starting a wider Mideast war. it appears Iran is playing into Netanyahu's hands in a spectacular fashion. Wouldn't you say that this constitutes a major failure on the part of Iran's antisemitic regime which orchestrated the Gaza war in the first place? Netanyahu is trying to drag the US into a bigger regional war. Screw him. Netanyahu is a Trump like figure using the power of his office to keep himself out of jail. A lot of young'ins are complaining about the cost of housing. And they aren't wrong. Based on salary to costs ratios the price of housing has gone way up. But the problem is most of them aren't really interested in why. The reasons?
1) Immigration - every illegal or even legal immigrant/green card holder needs housing raising demand 2) Environment restrictions - every law saving da Erf that restricts where you can build reduces supply 3) Bidenflation - the government spending is increasing inflation and thereby housing costs AND driving interest rate hikes So if any of the younger people you know complain they can't get a house ask them if they support the reasons why the cost of housing is high. If they do ask them why they aren't happy with the result Posted by: 18-1 at April 15, 2024 08:59 AM (ibTVg) 281

I've mentioned before in the towns around me they are trying to get MASSIVE property tax increases. One of the arguments that the pro-tax increase side makes is that tax increases don't matter because they'll raise the value of your house.
Now a tax increase increasing the value of your house is...questionable but the unstated assumption in this is that you are going to sell soonish - otherwise an increased valuation only means...even more taxes. Posted by: 18-1 at April 15, 2024 09:04 AM (ibTVg) 294

Couple of data points in my collective comments. 1. These fools are asking... 2. Five homes, and they aren't selling. Though truth be told, builders are advertising new construction townhomes at a price point at least 25K above our purchase price for this single family four bedroom with 3K square foot. Posted by: 18-1 at April 15, 2024 09:04 AM (ibTVg) +++++ Uh, that's not questionable, that's bullshit. Taxes cost. Most people buy houses with a mortgage and care a *lot* about that monthly cost. If a house in a high-tax jurisdiction will cost 10% more per month than a house in a lower-tax jurisdiction right down the road (most other things being equivalent), that higher tax rate is *not* going to support price. Quite the opposite. All the super trendy shit will be out of style in a few years. If you’re gonna spend all that money to renovate keep it classic so in 10 years it still looks good. Otherwise it’s going to be like avocado green appliances.

Obviously the mobile home isn't worth that. But the flight out of blue, urban shitholes has people with more money than common sense buying whatever, wherever they can.
Neighbor with a house very similar to mine put his house up for sale FSBO and got a contract before the sun went down that day from an out-of-state/sight-unseen buyer scooping up an easy $200k profit over purchase price. What a great surprise when I pulled up the page this morning. Great to see your graphic and read your words JJ. As for old Joe's actions re the ME, it's not only because he fears losing Michigan in November, but also because he has no love for Israel. Sad but true. Why the Jewish D voters refuse to acknowledge and act accordingly is simply beyond me.

Long term it’s hard to not make money in real estate. Which is why I tell people it’s never a bad time to buy if you’re in it for the long term. Obviously there are better times to buy than others. But over a 10 years stretch, it’s damn near impossible to lose money.

Granite countertops are the single greatest goody you can put into your home. They're practically indestructible. Super-easy to clean. Make a great working surface for rolling out dough or making pizzas. Posted by: naturalfake at April 15, 2024 09:27 AM With my wife's modest inheritance from her parents we did the granite thing. So pleasant to look at and work on. We did a lighter color for the 'L' counters and a very very deep green for the center island. Best kitchen purchase of them all in my opinion. Not cheap, but forever. Maybe. Next owner may hate them. Posted by: Divide by Zero at April 15, 2024 09:38 AM (RKVpM) 406
Granite countertops are the single greatest goody you can put into your home.
They're practically indestructible. Super-easy to clean. Make a great working surface for rolling out dough or making pizzas. But most of all - you don't need a gazillion hot pads. You can just pull some 500* pot of something out of the oven and stick it on directly on the counter top. Stupidly overprice but a great ad-on. Posted by: naturalfake OTOH Glasses dropped from 2 inches or just tipped over will shatter. You need a micro-fiber towel and side lighting to see if you've really gotten them clean. Bread wrapper ties or anything else small and dark will disappear. Posted by: DaveA at April 15, 2024 09:40 AM (FhXTo) 407

Sefton, it's great to have you back. It's indeed an encouraging sign that you don't need to have your biopsy until the 24th, and I pray that is a harbinger of great news on the tumor front. I'm saying a prayer for you right now, as I write this. Also praying for your wife's peace of mind during this time for you. I know your wife has beliefs to the left of yours, but I hope she knows that there's a Horde out there pulling for both of you.

Why is Joe Biden still kowtowing to Iran and throwing Israel under the bus?
Because Joe Biden is nothing but a dementia-brain-damaged puppet of the American Deep State and the World Economic Forum. And both those evil institutions support Iran and want Israel destroyed. So they are using the on-his-death-bed puppet to do their bidding and blame it all on him. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at April 15, 2024 10:05 AM (UKWFA) 412

Good morning, all, and it's so good you're here today, J.J.
Thank you and Happy Birthday! Prayers continuing for you and yours. "Does anyone expect the insane Iran nuclear deal to be shelved permanently?" No. And I have a feeling so much is being staged for/in the US proxy war against Russia, through at least 2027 or as long as 2030, there'll be many sacrifices & one on the table is Israel's independent State. CATO Institute, Oct '23. In part, "Perhaps most important is Biden’s insistence that “we do not seek to have American troops fighting in Russia or fighting against Russia.” Nevertheless, he turned the Ukraine conflict into a proxy war against Moscow: The U.S. underwrote, trained, and supplied Ukraine’s military, and helped Ukrainians kill prodigious numbers of Russian soldiers, target senior Russian officers, sink Russian ships, and destroy Russian military installations. From Moscow’s perspective, the two countries already are at war. ..." ) The region, a huge obsession, the future Nirvana, breadbasket of the world, mineral & resource rich. The other is Trump, less they be thwarted. -- Prayers also for Israel, ALL Hamas hostages, and the IDF.
