Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | THE MORNING RANT: Woke vs Woke Showdown Involving Chevron CEO; Other Green FolliesThe Sustainable Organic Church of the Carbon Apocalypse is hugely annoying, especially since it is essentially now the official state church of America and the West. But when its most vocal congregants start fighting amongst themselves and accusing each other of heresy, it is rather entertaining. Like the CEOs of most major corporations, Chevron’s CEO Mike Wirth has embraced left-wing activism and imposed a divisive, sexist, and racist diversity agenda on the company. Whether he is a left-wing true believer, or simply a cultural greenwasher who believes that hating on his straight, white employees makes his carbon-based $26 million compensation package seem less offensive, I don’t know for sure. But I do know that Wirth loves to go out and promote the left-wing talking points. Unfortunately for Wirth, while he was attending a forum about ”Harnessing the Power of Engaged Men in the Pursuit of Gender-Inclusive Workspaces” some of his co-leftists stormed the stage and verbally assaulted Wirth for not putting Chevron out of business as fast their net-zero religion demands. Wirth’s left-wing allies chased him off the stage and accused him of being ”…not a man, he’s a sick leech, and if he’s engaged in anything it’s killing women of color.” These left-wing radicals are on CEO Wirth’s political team. He has chosen to embrace the radical left and push their cultural-communist agenda on his employees. It is not my position to dispute the claims made against him by his political allies. If his own political friends claim he is a leech and a women-of-color killer, it’s not my place to dispute that.

If one sage grouse were killed at an oil drilling site, there would fines, investigations, and possibly criminal penalties against the drilling company. But millions of birds - including magnificent raptors with limited populations - are killed each year by wind turbines, all to produce not a single kw of reliable electricity.
That SHOULD BE criminal. Posted by: rickb223 at April 15, 2024 11:06 AM (0hu/3) 15

Wind energy produces zero kw of reliable electricity. Despite all the cost and environmental degradation caused by wind turbines, they produce no electricity when they wind doesn’t blow, so there must always be a reliable backup source of nuclear or carbon-based electricity.
It gets better than that - the wind tends to not be blowing under two conditions: 1) It is really, really hot. 2) It is really, really cold. So at the moment when the electrical system is under maximum stress, due to either very hot or very cold temperatures, you get even less wind generation than you do normally. The wind blades are carbon fiber, the solar panels have all kinds of toxic materials in them as well. Nothing to be done but bury them in a deep deep pit.

The solar industry is losing $2.5 billion annually from equipment underperformance, likely caused by equipment malfunctions and weather conditions, according to an article in kWh Analytics’ 2023 Solar Risk Assessment. The report, Hail No! Defending Solar from Nature’s Cold Assault, was based on data collected by GCube over five years. It shows that hail claims now average around $58.4 million per claim and account for 54.21% of incurred costs of total solar loss claims attributable to hail. This creates a gap between the insurance requirements for solar projects and what is available in the market, leading to project delays and cancellations. https://tinyurl.com/2t7beb4p Posted by: rickb223 at April 15, 2024 11:47 AM (0hu/3) 148

Last week a knowledgeable ONT commenter elaborated on how they could be deconstructed and the body and blades usefully recycled.
If nothing else they could be burned in coal fired energy plants. Coal fired energy plants are in our the future. We have over a hundred years of burnable coal. Clean coal plants can be quickly built. They are much easier to harden against EMP and other external threats to the grid and faster to build than nuclear. The time is now. This creates a gap between the insurance requirements for solar projects and what is available in the market, leading to project delays and cancellations. https://tinyurl.com/2t7beb4p Posted by: rickb223 at April 15, 2024 11:47 AM The solar industry in the US only exists because of cheap Chinese solar panels and huge amount of State and Federal $$$$$ flowing from subsidies, kickbacks and bribes. Trillions of Tons of Carbon Left Out of Environmental Models, Scientists Warn
We all know about the carbon in Earth's atmosphere, and probably about the carbon contained in plants and the bodies of animals. But a substantial fraction of the carbon in the planet's land-based ecosystems is held in something so obvious we might overlook it: soil. Even if we do think about carbon in soil, we are usually thinking of carbon in organic matter in the soil, such as plant litter, bacteria or animal waste. However, the inorganic, mineral component of soil also contains carbon. In a new study just published in Science, we show there is much more soil inorganic carbon than anybody realised – and that it may be a surprisingly big player in Earth's carbon cycle. We analysed more than 200,000 soil measurements from around the world to calculate that the top two metres of soil globally holds about 2.3 trillion tonnes of inorganic carbon. This is about five times more carbon than found in all the world's terrestrial vegetation. We estimate some 23 billion tonnes (1%) of this carbon may be released over the next 30 years, with poorly understood effects on Earth's lands, waters and atmosphere. During peak production time, solar panels exude a tremendous amount of heat.
This makes it a PRIME location for NOAA to install some temp monitors to exacerbate the global warmening climate change hysteria. ===== A few 'solar farm' installations on newly-purchased federal land will be a prime experiment on desertification of potentially arable land. Yucca Mountain was never built and hopefully never will be.
it was built just not finished; something like $24 billion dollars of tax money were sunk into it Posted by: brak at April 15, 2024 12:03 PM (25k9m) * * * * One exploratory tunnel was dug, with a small side offshoot for experiments. Yucca Mountain was never built and most of the exterior construction was dismantled over a decade ago. Regarding lithium-ion fires and FWIW, I once had a AAA battery explode within my desk lamp. The lamp wasn't on at the time, so it took me a while to even find out what that "Pop" was. So yeah - even the low-end stuff is not 100% reliably safe.
