I love cumin when it is used appropriately. There's a local Chinese restaurant that makes a glorious lamb with cumin that is ridiculously spicy, but so tasty that it's worth the agony!

Police Commissioner Karen Webb said police believed they knew who the man was but he had not been formally identified.

She said the man was known to police and, while the motive was unclear, early indications suggested the attack was not related to terrorism.

"There's no suggestions anyone was targeted but that could change," she said.

Eight others who were stabbed by the man, including a nine-month-old child, remain in hospital and some are in a critical condition.

I'll concede it has its place, but it's the one spice I really can't tolerate in the quantities that most recipes call for. I'm an outlier as far as Mediterranean types go.

24 In short:
+Six people are dead after a stabbing attack at one of Sydney's busiest shopping centres on Saturday afternoon.
+A police inspector who was nearby tracked the offender and shot him dead when he raised a knife at her.
+Several more people, including a small child, were taken to hospital. Some victims sustained critical injuries.

29 As with many food experiences, I once had a ridiculously good Bloody Mary that in all the years subsequent, I have never been able to replicate.

Flavor is so dependent on your own personal body condition (what you have been eating, drinking and so forth) that you can have these black swan (but in a good way) moments that are impossible to replicate.

45 Willard:

141 Australia has strict gun laws that regulate the ownership, possession and use of firearms. The laws vary by state and territory, but generally require a genuine reason, a licence, a safety training certificate, and a safe storage for each firearm. Self-protection is not a valid reason to own or use a firearm in Australia. Handguns are illegal without a licence and have been so before the National Firearms Agreement of 1996.
