I've still got the thing, I've upgraded the HD to an SD and I use the Adobe Creative Cloud on it quite handily. The whole thing is sturdy as hell yet cool and sleek. It has the most touchable keyboard ever with backlit keys. I love it.

34 Mornin'

I'm down to two people on my shift. Came in last night and found out that security walked the guy I had been working with out the door. Clearance revoked. No reason given. He'd been here 6 years. No idea what happened. So, it was just me tonight. The third wheel of the shift is on leave. There was a guy from another office here, but he was asleep most of the night. He'd been up since 0600 yesterday. Got to have at least two people here.

Yay.

47 From the info in that Google story re CA news, it sounds like when Google pulls out of places that attempt to legislate its news links, Google eventually returns and pays publishers anyway. So it seems the laws win in the end and Google has to pay publishers for all that free money Google earns off their product. Nothing "stupid"about that in the end IMHO. Sacramento is a gang of retarded monkeys but anything that takes corrupt behemoth Google down a notch is good news.

70 Breakfast is pretty much my usual: a microwaved beef & bean chimichanga with some sharp cheddar atop it, with scrambled eggs seasoned by paprika and chili powder. There's some spice to both, but it's not fiery as when I used to mix Santa Fe green chile into my eggs. That required some honey or some chocolate to cool the burning afterward. And those are not good for me.

Yeah, I spoon a little honey into the first cup of coffee in the morning, but a guy's got to have *something* to look forward to, right?

Linda suggested we have breakfast tomorrow at the last Shoney's in town, which is breakfast and lunch only now and has a good buffet. A shame how that solid old chain has fallen, at least around here. Do you still have a Shoney's where you are?

Missed ya'll during Lent.

Like Cowtown, looks like it will be a great day to do the garden. Interspersed with re-filling the freezer with various cooked meats.

Mr. S has to go to Dallas to finish up the taxes. On his birthday, too. But he will have lunch with his sisters and go see his mom, so that will be nice.
So, I am going to the genealogy meeting for him, to drop off papers and pick up the magazine.

Posted by: Don Black at April 13, 2024 07:46 AM (oCjPU)

135 Australia has strict gun laws that regulate the ownership, possession and use of firearms. The laws vary by state and territory, but generally require a genuine reason, a licence, a safety training certificate, and a safe storage for each firearm. Self-protection is not a valid reason to own or use a firearm in Australia. Handguns are illegal without a licence and have been so before the National Firearms Agreement of 1996.

142 We are going to charge google a small fee for news links.
The fee will need a new state agency to administer. But the agency will be funded by the fee.
Well, the fee doesn't quite cover the costs of the agency. We will have to raise the fee.
Hmmmm. The agency is still underfunded. We will have to raise income taxes.
Close the agency? Are you crazy? 25,000 Californians will lose their jobs! Who will provide those essential services?
