Watermelons vs. Traditional Progressives: Internecine Warfare At The NY Times!

There's not much better than a nasty little spat in the newsroom of the Old Gray Whore. All of those earnest little communists being pumped out by the "elite" J schools yearn to work for the NYT and transform the fourth estate into the masturbatory fantasies they had in college. Unfortunately for them, and fortunate for us, the Stalinists in charge want to continue to run it the old fashioned way...the way they learned from their KGB handlers in 1981.

New York Times Bosses Seek to Quash Rebellion in the Newsroom

It is the latest internal crisis at the Times, where management has been at odds with factions of the newsroom over union negotiations and coverage of sensitive topics like the transgender community and social justice.
Reporting about the Gaza war has been a particular flashpoint, especially over an in-depth article that found Hamas weaponized sexual violence in the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel. Some staffers questioned the reporting behind it and alleged that the suffering of Gazans isn’t getting the same attention. Times leaders in March said they stand by the reporting.
The internal probe was meant to find out who leaked information related to a planned podcast episode about that article. But its intensity and scope suggests the Times’s leadership, after years of fights with its workforce over a variety of issues involving journalistic integrity, is sending a signal: Enough.

At least the old school commies knew how to write. The new breed can't diagram a sentence, have a fast and loose relationship with pronouns, and can't keep their contempt for America on the down-low.

Hopefully the simmering battles explode into all-out warfare and the NYT fades into irrelevance as it resembles more and more the weekly handouts from the campus communists club.

Grabbing stuff off the teletypes from the news services, putting them on appropriate desks. Every so often I had to go get one of our reporters, usually found at the dive bar a half block away. Those guys didn't drink Cosmos.

Some public libraries have online subscriptions. I just buy one of the big compendiums (compendia?) every couple years. WSJ and WashPost have good Sunday books as well. I prefer manual fill rather than online.

Hindsight's a funny thing. I guess it becomes possible to pontificate on the verdict, this long after the fact, because it's removed from the reality of what the trial was.

The fact is, everyone OUTSIDE the jury, even at the time, had their own axes to grind, but the jury itself, which has always been vilified for... whatever, racism, stupidity, you name it... it is possible to look at the trial objectively and say they came to the right verdict, based on what was presented in court.

I find it interesting to look at the changing landscrape, not just that the traditional corporate media cant' get away with things, but that they must compete for "talent" as well, because it's going to become less and less a glamorous, dream job for these ambitious "journalists" to go into traditional media.

Whatever bent the media has had, and I do believe it's always been bent, at least in the old days you could believe the people in the industry were usually talented.

I think they are different. The woke mob I was referring to is our government establishment crowd. There were some in the media that used to try and hold the government accountable. Not all but some.

Now they seem to think it's their duty to be noting more than a propaganda arm for the government. 5 days ago Rand Paul wrote an op-ed for Fox with damning evidence that 15 federal agencies knew in 2018 that the CPP was working in Wuhan to develop the virus and nobody said a word. 79 So, I've been reading the various excuses being made by the pro-Iranian accounts on X for the failure of the Iranian strike, and the excuses fall into several broad categories.

1) Iran did do substantial damage to Israel, and the Israelis are successfully covering it up. (In a country the size of New Jersey.)

Iranian TV is currently running videos of fires in Chile and Texas, while claiming that they are videos of damage in "Israel".

2) Iran is playing 13-dimensional-chess here - they deliberately sized the strike package to allow the Israeli defenses to successfully intercept it. Since the Israelis know that Iran could launch a strike ten times greater than the actual strike, Israel is now deterred.

3) Iran is playing 17-dimensional-chess here - the strike was designed to fail, but now the Iranians have mapped out where all the air defenses are in Israel, so a follow-on strike would be certain to succeed.

It's possible to make the argument "sticking it to the man" was the right verdict.

As much as everyone acknowledges OJ did it, all these years later, it SHOULD be possible for everyone to readily admit, the LAPD planted evidence, and the Cochran team was able to demonstrate with quite effective clarity, that NONE of the physical evidence could be trusted.

One of the Top Ten strangest yet memorable experiences of my life was being in some tiny little coastal town in North Carolina at a marina shop. I needed something for my outboard and they were a Mercury dealer. There, hanging on the wall to my right in front of the cashier was a huge framed and autographed photograph of Ollie North. It had to be 16 X 20 at least. I busted out laughing.

I'd never seen a signed photograph that large.

It's the same in the universities where we have student representation on faculty and admin bodies. Student/university relationship is one of client/server - the student enters into a contract and pays money to be 'indoctrinated'. Companies don't usually have their clients on their management boards. It's madness to have the clients make policy since the clients come and go, they are just transients.

Once on a Saturday I heard a sort of protest broadcast that may have been put together by one of the affinity groups that management had put together. It was very odd. They wanted to be able to talk about their personal feelings more on air. Not sure how to describe it. It was not a well-formatted segment.
