>>> I love when dogs parade around with sticks and act like you're so jealous of their stick. The other day I walked to the dog park. There was a pit bull there with a stone in his mouth about the size of a grapefruit. He kept pacing back and forth in front of me to show off the stone and taunt me with my non-possession of it.
And it breaks their spatial awareness because they will run into anything and everything with that stick, like gates that are 20% the length of the stick, BOOM! Posted by: banana Dream is mostly made up of gases at April 10, 2024 07:39 PM (Y6IkP) 25

Speaking of lizards the hatch has begun where I work. Soon I will find tens of little Bluebellys and Leopard lizard babies smashed by forklift wheels. Chase way more out if they'll play along with me trying to save their life. Over the years I have gotten good at getting them to run up a slanted cardboard piece and catching them as the launch off. Take them out to the field side of the property and let them go.
As well as soon will be the Rattlesnake birthings and those damn 8 inch long babies in every crack and crevasse. They die on sight after verification they are not a Gopher snakes which eats rattlesnakes but look almost the same. Cold nights right now has all them seeking heat and a Foundry makes plenty. A little background on the stork nest.
It caught fire and they had spray it. In Central Europe it seems storks are pretty common and many countries have those nest risers to keep them away from wires. They do not put the risers up everywhere, but only where storks want a nest. I have read that stork nests are multi-generational people claim that the same family have used the same nest in their home town for 30 years or more, so the nest is a very big deal. (I did not check with my local storkologist or read any peer reviewed studies, but sounds legit.) So in jurisdictions where they do this, it is common for humans to help rebuild after removing the nest from the wires. Posted by: The astonishing Gentlemen TIJM at April 10, 2024 08:00 PM (ePOMS) 85

Though......the weirdest fashion trend I've seen was Capri pants for men which was popular in Japan last time we visited there. Posted by: naturalfake at April It’s here now. J is eurotrash ( I say that with love in my heart) so he wears the fitted trousers and suits with little to no break, and the loud socks. But thank goodness no crops. Petal pushers are different than capris and don’t hit at that weird middle of the calf spot. But there are the amazing looking women who can pull either off. I am not one! I am short and can’t wear palazzo pants either, but I love them. Posted by: Piper at April 10, 2024 08:06 PM (ZdaMQ) 103

In Colombia, it was Aguardiente. Why does every place have these awful anise liquors?
Posted by: Dash my lace wigs! at April 10, 2024 07:52 PM (OX9vb) Anise hides the flavor of cheap liquor, and it luouches when you add water. Aguardiente, Ouzo, Raki, Aquavit, it all is the same. I soak anise in cheap white rum and get the same effect at much cheaper cost per 750 ml plastic bottle. An added benefit, it is good to add to my pie crusts and it is slightly yellow to make it even more repulsive while drinking straight shots. Colombian aguardiente traditionally was made from sugar cane bagasse, and was known to cause blindness, and really needed the liquorice to hide the nasty undertaste. Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at April 10, 2024 08:02 PM (ynpvh) That's one of those regional pronunciations. About half the U.S. pronounces those two words the same. The rest of us pronounce "wh" more as an "hw," with a little throaty aspiration at the beginning. It's annoying for me as a crossword fan, because crossword composers from other parts of the country often will, as a clue, use a pun that only makes sense if "w" and "wh" are pronounced the same. Pretty much a first world problem, though. Posted by: Philip at April 10, 2024 08:16 PM (46Cfy) 118

Surrounded by cats, lonely, with some money for retirement and a paid off house, but with nothing of value or actual lasting substance. Nothing at all.
