Mondays amirite No seriously Mondays! Bear cubs snuggling. discover_civilization What you see here is known as Space Jellyfish Phenomenon Yes, you read it right, that's actually a term given for a phenomenon. A space jellyfish phenomenon is a type of twilight phenomenon. It is caused by sunlight reflecting off the high altitude rocket plume gases emitted by a launching rocket during morning or evening twilight. The observer is in darkness, while the exhaust plumes at high altitudes are still in direct sunlight. This luminous apparition is reminiscent of a jellyfish.Really? You see a jellyfish? That's not what I see. Looks to me like a celestial body just shot out a load of cosmic plasm towards Uranus. No word on what location this is:

The scientific name of the koala is phascularctos cinereus, from the Greek word phaskolos, meaning “pouch,” and arktos, meaning “bear.”. Males ate often born with two penises, with one kept in reserve in case of adolescent indecision.

Jicama was a staple in the San Diego, CA Salad Bar where I worked back in the early '70s.
Jeez, but I cut n' sliced countless cases of that stuff, having to keep the iced-down crock out front constantly replenished. Pretty good stuff, actually, only needing a shake of salt to be Good, and a dip in some Ranch dressing to be GREAT. Folks worried about which wine to pair with it...when, the secret flavor bomb, was a steaming mug of hot black coffee. "Soup and Salad" restaurant. HEAVIEST bus-tubs in the restaurant business, filled with heavy crockery plates and bowls, wet salads n' dressings, and soggy biscuits and cornbread waste. Learned a lot there, No Regerts! MT Haven, formerly Amoco Milford Haven, was a VLCC (very large crude carrier), leased to Troodos Shipping (a company run by Loucas Haji-Ioannou and his son Stelios Haji-Ioannou). In 1991, while loaded with 144,000 tonnes (1 million barrels) of crude oil, the ship exploded, caught fire and sank off the coast of Genoa, Italy, killing six Cypriot crew and flooding the Mediterranean with up to 50,000 tonnes of crude oil. It broke in two and sank after burning for three days. You may now continue.

Just waiting on the laundry being done…
On July 11, 1991, I heard of this eclipse coming to San Antonio. But there was no Internet, kids. So, having knowledge of Saros cycles, I pulled out a 1988 almanac and resolved to nail down the date and approximate path on a map. I got it, and even calculated April 8 as the date. So today was kind of a big deal. My third. You can call me a shadow chaser. It is an accusation I cannot deny. Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at April 08, 2024 09:04 PM (e0dkU) 111
Look Jovian triple eclipse. Three of the Galilean moons were aligned just right to cause 3 shadows on Jupiter. The angular diameter of all four are several times the sun as seem from Jupiter.

If you are a materialist, how do you even wrap your brain around the sheer improbability of a total eclipse? The Earth just happens to be at just the correct distance from the Sun so that the Moon (of just the correct diameter) orbiting the Earth at just the right distance from the Earth will block all of the Sun expect for the corona.

Moar of His Goodness. Earth's Moon keeps stirring the Iron/Nickel Core of the Earth, and the internal friction of it's movement keeps it nice n' melty. That same moving, metallic Core, energizes the Magnetosphre which forms the Van Allen Belts. Without all of this, Earth would be as dead as Mars, it's atmosphere long ago stripped from the planet by the incessant Solar Winds. Plus, we're living on the Earth's Crusts, slow motion terrestrial surfboards, riding that molten core. *throws hands up in roller coaster mode* Wheeee!!!! Our big Moon also stabilizes the earth's axial tilt. Without the Moon, the earth's tilt would be quite chaotic, going from hardly any seasons to extreme seasons. The Moon torgues keep that angle stabilized, while making it precess, in the 25K year precessional cycle. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at April 08, 2024 09:50 PM (w6EFb) 161
Count me as one of those people that doesn't get the eclipse hype. I can see where it would be mind blowing in pre scientific times..but even (some) grade schoolers understand it's just a thing where every so often the orbit of the moon blocks the light of the Sun in a certain area for a bit. It gets dark every night unless you are really far north or south on the planet. I even went by a headline today that asked "Will your cellphone work during the eclipse?" Does it work at night? There's about a 40,000 year cycle of variation in the earth's axial tilt, going from 22.1 to 24.5 degrees. Right now, we're on the leg of that cycle where it decreasing. Also, the eccentricity is on a decreasing leg as well. Orbit is becoming more circular, and tilt decreasing. Milankovitch cycles, these are. They are what drives climate mostly. Ahead of us about 30 feet away was a cottonmouth moccasin snake about 6' long headed down from the dunes to the surf. We jogged on by. Later, after turning around for the return trip, we noticed the sidewinder tracks going all the way to the water, and about 150 yards away, the sidewinder tracks going all the way back up to the dunes.
