We interrupt your regularly scheduled ONT for the following news. You still have time to celebrate It's April 8th - Let's Celebrate Dog Farting Awareness Day!

You're welcome. Carry on..........

The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

‘I mean, what do you need more than a death to prove that it’s unsafe? Multiple deaths prove that even more,’ Francine Turner

Quote II

“But the answer is not to take from the women that for over 50 years, Billie Jean King, title nine. This is not the answer. And I had no idea that that would be controversial. To stand up for women.” Sage Steele

Quote III

“The recent disaster at the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland is a harrowing reminder of what could happen if we fail to prioritize the integrity of our infrastructure," Staten Island Assemblyman Charles Fall (D)

Oh I suppose I would eat a slice if it were offered. But no way am I going out of my way to find this at the local pizzeria.

Stuff Your Pizza Crust With Hot Dogs

Pigs in blankets are always welcome, and that's how you know this is a good idea.

I had a vision recently. It was a 90s-style pizza commercial where a slice gets pulled away from the pie to reveal a crust stuffed with mozzarella—but it wasn’t mozzarella. The crust was stuffed with hot dogs. Although I still think this was a weird fever dream, it turns out Pizza Hut and Dominos have been dabbling with this pigs-on-a-pie idea on and off since 2015. There doesn’t seem to be a recent promotion, so my vision remains unexplained. Regardless, it’s genius, and you should make one soon to improve your day.

I have taken taxi rides and Uber/Lyft rides in Minneapolis. All of the drivers are immigrants. Minneapolis plans to become a second rate city.

Here’s what we know about Uber and Lyft’s planned exit from Minneapolis in May

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The future of Uber and Lyft in Minneapolis has garnered concern and debate in recent weeks after the City Council voted last month to require that ride-hailing companies pay drivers a higher rate while they are within city limits.

Uber and Lyft responded by saying they would stop serving the Minneapolis area when the ordinance takes effect May 1, causing the city to weigh the ordinance it passed. The state could also take action, while riders and drivers are left wondering what could come next.

The site is Good News Network. Is this good news? I don't think so. Insect Farm Hatches Plan for Greener Animal Feed for Chickens and Pigs

There’s been a lot of talk in the media over the last few years about insect protein, whether used in fake beef, protein bars, or other processed applications, but a startup in the UK has come up with a way to integrate bugs into the food supply chain in a way that not only cuts emissions, but doesn’t upset the stomach.

The now 9-year-old start-up Entocycle uses bugs to replace corn, soy, and fishmeal as high-quality animal feed for pigs and chickens.

Of the major meat sources around the world, chickens and pigs are known in the industry as ‘monogastrics’ meaning they have one stomach as compared with other meat sources like beef, sheep, and goat, which are ruminants, meaning they have several stomachs.

Once the animals accept this crap, we are next, well not John F. Kerry, Male Prostitute.

Do you trust Harvard? Not Science Fiction: Harvard Scientists Have Developed an “Intelligent” Liquid

Scientists have developed a metafluid with programmable response.
Scientists at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) have developed a programmable metafluid with tunable springiness, optical properties, viscosity and even the ability to transition between a Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid.

The first-of-its-kind metafluid uses a suspension of small, elastomer spheres — between 50 to 500 microns — that buckle under pressure, radically changing the characteristics of the fluid. The metafluid could be used in everything from hydraulic actuators to program robots, to intelligent shock absorbers that can dissipate energy depending on the intensity of the impact, to optical devices that can transition from clear to opaque.

The research is published in Nature.

“We are just scratching the surface of what is possible with this new class of fluid,” said Adel Djellouli, a Research Associate in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at SEAS and first author of the paper. “With this one platform, you could do so many different things in so many different fields.”

Everything about Fanni Willis' case is weak, except for the size of her briefs.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ office urged a Georgia appeals court Monday not to take up defendants’ appeal of the decision allowing her to stay on the case against former President Donald Trump.

Willis told the Georgia Court of Appeals in a filing Monday it should reject defendants’ continued efforts to disqualify her, noting that Judge Scott McAfee found “the evidence insufficient to establish any actual conflict of interest and declined to dismiss the indictment.” McAfee’s March ruling allowed Willis to remain on the case if special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who she was in a relationship with and was accused of financially benefiting from appointing, stepped down.

53 Since chickens eat bugs, I'm not too concerned about them being fed insects. I guess it depends on whether the types of insects are good for the chickens.

We were having very bad grasshopper problems in our yard a few years ago. They would devour everything I tried to grow in the garden.

Then our neighbors got chickens. Those chickens not only got the grasshoppers under control, but they also used to roam in our yard and we had no mice in our house during those years.

... Beer Brats, sliced Pepperoni thin, and used in the same way in the classic Cheese n' Pepperoni Pizza style.

Got a feeling they'd char up nearly as well as the Pepperoni, but with a unique flavor, all their own.

I'd try one, just to find out if it'd be good, or not.

94 I clicked on the dog fart story. Bwahahahaha!! Excerpt:

"My dog farts on my face when I am sleeping. It grosses me out. I went to the vet and he said he is okay. What do I do?

Analysis: Interpreted strictly as written, it can be argued that the vet himself is proclaiming that he is okay. Whether this is because he doesn't have a dog farting in his face is unknown.

Some advice from... well, exactly the kind of person who might answer such a question. Note its clear thinking and analytical response, no doubt the product of a fine mind:

"I would wait until your dog is sleeping and fart on his face. That way he knows what it's like."

Yes, indeed. Absolute idiocy. When Pistol Pete was playing, the NCAA didn't allow freshmen on the varsity teams. Pistol Pete's record was just for 3 seasons, not four.

Also, besides no 3 point shots, there was no shot clock (Dean Smith at UNC's "four corners" finally was enough, and they instituted a shot clock).

Also, Pistol Pete was playin' agin' boys in his own league, not girls. And Pistol Pete would not have played against girls. It would've been dishonorable to ass-stomp girls like that.

Seriously, I was reading some analysis. Believe it or not, there are records of every shot he made. Add in the 3 pt line, 4 seasons, and Pistol Pete would've gone well over 5000 points, no question about it.

Pistol Pete dropped dead, at the age of 40 in 1988. It was simple pick-up basketball game somewhere. Just funnin' around.

Sudden cardiac death. Turned out, upon autopsy, he had a congenital heart defect. He was missing a coronary artery. The others compensated. It was unknown and undiagnosed the whole time. But, by age 40, during that little bit of exertion, it showed up.

Pistol Pete's last words were "I feel fine".

317 Fascinating video out of Dallas during the eclipse today; in a video of the eclipse, you see the shadow of something large and fast - but no wings - slicing through the clouds at a very high rate of speed. You don't see the object, but you see it's shadow, but not the object itself.

I don't think it's doctored, it's just hard to explain. It caught my eye because I'm about 100 miles east of Dallas, and a couple minutes after this video was recorded, as the eclipse ended, I noticed a very high contrail of something that went horizon to horizon in about 15 aeconds. All I can say for sure is not a commercial aircraft.

Heh, my bride Miley, just noticed something. She's big on maps, and just found some detailed elevation contour map for our local property here.

She has been perplexed by local directionality, and how and why I say something is "up" or "down". It has to do with elevations, which I naturally intuit.

Ever since she's been here, she's thought my description of our house as "down here" vs my mother's house as "up there" is not right. Her notion of "up" and "down" is...something else that I divine.

Well, that contour map she's found shows that our house is 17' below Mama's house. She now concedes that I know what I'm talkin' 'bout with my "up the hill" and "down the hill" references.

I'm not sure what geoid these elevations are in reference to.

My directions when "mon' backin' ", are all about the local elevation, expresssed as "up the hill" and "down the hill".

I blew the mind of Miley's young brother one time recently with my Mon' Backin'. He was in the truck, and I was directin' his wheel turning to get the ass-end of the truck where I wanted it to be. That is the job of the Mon' Backer. Tell the driver to "C'mon back".

I'd tell him, "Turn yer front end up the hill!" Or "down the hill". That did not grok with him.

I had to learn how to adjust my mon backin' to his local left and right.

"Up the hill" and "Down the hill" are references to the local elevation gradient. Somehow, and I don't know really how, that is like, the primary reference point around here.

That's what my Daddy taught me about to Mon' Back.

That local elevation map is pretty accurate. I can see why, according that that, water pools where it does when when get a big rain.

Our driveway, such as it is, is sort of at the worst possible place it could be per that. Very steep gradients per unit length. No wonder water just pours down it.

353 Bruce Lee was actually a bit more than 130 lbs.

Solid muscle is SO much heavier than fatty flesh.

Moreover? Bone Density. Boxers have it, too.

Hundreds of thousands (millions?) of repeated HARD STRIKES on training pads. Hits, punches, kicks, sweeps, chops, open fist, closed fist, foot, elbow, knee, etc.

And the the absorption of repeated blows ON him, in training to take the pain and fight through the impacts and injuries.

By time of his death, I'd wager HIS skeleton weighed half again as much as a non-fighting clone of his same build.

My 1st wife was a State level H.S. gymnast. Not quite 5' tall.

Density? She could not float in a pool. She'd sink, unless actively swimming.

Until age 30ish. Absent her mom's apron strings, I think she (and we) might've done better, but, that was not to be.

Speaking as a Redneck, that checks out. There are just some of those phrases out there that define the culture - one that springs to mind is "fixin' to." Conversationally it can be pictured as:

Irritated Redneck Boss: Bubba, you know the automated gin ain't working now! Get yur ass over there and help Jim get that cotton wagon onto the scales!"

Bubba: "I'm fixin' to."

Note that Bubba may mean he's going to tackle the task ASAP, or that he's going to take his own sweet time doing it, when he "gits around to it."

Best use I ever saw in media was on the old TV series In The Heat Of The Night where a notorious rapist was being escorted by the local PD to a prison van outside the courthouse. A sniper takes him out. After a beat or two, the Chief tells one of his men to call an ambulance. The cop looks at the guy, then says "I;m fixin' to" while he proceeds as slowly as he possibly can to put the call in, allowing for ample bleeding-out time.

I know NASA had some stuff in the upper atmosphere today to measure the effect of the eclipse on the atmosphere.

To me, that shadow looked like a plane whose wings weren't casting much of a shadow. The speed also makes sense-that was a very low-level cloud and a plane would be going 550+ miles per hour tens of thousands of feet above it. But that's just my very basic understanding of physics, I'm sure some aerospace engineer is going to rip me to shreds (like a Boeing engine cowl!).

I'ma gonna say about 4F. During the August, 2017 event, where totality passed right over here, he did measure things precisely. We got a 10F temp drop. Also, evaporative cloud formation got killed right in its track, some shit he was going about and thought it was really something.

That is a definitely different order of things - if Mama says do it, you definitely need to pursue that task with all possible speed you can muster. If she includes your full name when she says it, you need to see how much you can approximate light speed, because Mama may have already decided which peach tree branch she's going to use as a switch.

It's true that it can have that meaning, and that usage would be more polite in conveying that message, which if uttered directly might be taken by Irritated Redneck Boss as anything from a firing offense to an invitation to engage in fisticuffs. Fisticuffs used to be a big thing in Redneck culture in the foothills of the Appalachians where I grew up - local sporting events were often attended as an excuse to have a massive brawl outside with the supporters of the visiting team.

Call it The Farty Boys (not Hardy Boys). First book centers on a rash of mysteriously smelly Vegas casinos, titled, "Case of the Smelly Dealer" (subtitle "He Who Smelled it, Dealt a Flush.").

Possibilities are endless.

418 Got some great pictures of the eclipse today - put my eclipse glasses over the lens of the camera of NY phone and cranked the magnification up to 20X. Worked really well, and I was able to see the eclipse in great detail just by alternating between watching my phone screen and then taking the phone down and watching with just eclipse glasses on.

The best shots that I got were ones that at first glance I thought I must have forgotten to put the glasses over the lenses because they were so bright. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I got some amazing shots of the sun just as it was coming out from full totality. We all were amazed at how such a teeny little sliver of light exposure could make such a HUGE difference in the amount of light that we could see! I actually ended up with a couple of shots that looked like a couple of the NASA shots.

If you follow me on FB, it is my pinned post right now; I also sent a copy of my FB post - with the pictures - to MisHum, if he wants to publish them. They aren't bad for having been taken with a lowly S24Plus Galaxy phone 😊❤
