This could depict a moment in a Western, or a post-Rev. War story in Ohio (which was then "the West" to the original thirteen colonies). The hero and his woman secured their canoe farther upriver. While they were making love under a sycamore, the devilish Iroquois Indian Famous Frog stole up and cut the rope, stranding them.

Apparently the pro-tax side is now admitting that a big driver in the town's increased costs are driven by Bidenflation..obviously the solution to inflation is more government spending. NBC: Police took possession of E. Jean Carroll's unregistered gun after her testimony in Trump defamation trial. With trump and the magats who can blame her. But with the trial beginning monday why did NBC deem it appropriate to publish this story now?
So there was no attempt by law enforcement to help her get a license? The New York pistol permit process can be an incredible PITA depending upon which county you are in. The closer you are to NYC, the harder it can get. That's the dilemma. If E Jean Carroll had registered the gun, it would have hit the papers. And may have attracted lone wolves, seeking vengeance for their President. As she didn't register the gun, she broke the law and lost the weapon for her protection, again, attracting lone wolves. Communist Cuba on the brink of collapse
The future of Cuba and the trajectory of communism are under threat, with citizens fighting back against the regime. Protesters are taking to the streets amid an ongoing economic crisis, making their concerns heard. Cuba’s communist leadership is facing a fierce backlash that has not been seen since similar protests in July 2021. Since the 2021 protests, it is estimated that nearly 500,000 Cubans have sought refuge in the United States. .. obviously we know it will be claimed that Cuba really never had "true communism" Posted by: SMOD at April 16, 2024 10:27 AM (RHGPo) 306

Mellencamp spoke out about his growing frustration with modern concert etiquette in a new interview with The Washington Post.
“I do expect etiquette inside of the theater, the same way you would at a Broadway show,” he told the publication. “My shows are not really concerts anymore. And if you want to come and scream and yell and get drunk, don’t come to my show.” ... I sort of thought that speakers on college campuses should get the same treatment. Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Joe Biden at April 16, 2024 10:25 AM (vf0Uk) Tribute bands are a great way to enjoy the music of a band / artist at a tremendous value. They put in an outstanding effort to sound like the original performers, and they tend to adhere to the "shut up and sing" approach. Sometimes you can see multiple bands for a very reasonable price. Last year I saw a double bill -- Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam tribute bands back to back for $25 at a very small venue. They were both amazing, and I didn't have to pay a ton of money to be far away from the stage and listen to a bunch of douchebaggery coming out of Eddie Vedder's mouth. Posted by: brak at April 16, 2024 10:35 AM (AR07F) ++++ Yeah. Nah. Fixing an old car is nothing like the expense and hit that you get when buying a new one. Even engine replacement become reasonable. ...
Posted by: whig at April 16, 2024 10:56 AM (z97rz) ++++ Trans replacements usually outprice engine replacements at this point. Modern automatics are seriously expensive. But that isn't the point. It will be cheaper than a new car, yeah, for sure - and may be better value as well. That doesn't mean the price won't bring tears to your eyes, though. I learned on a rented Austin Mini 850 in Dublin with the stick on my left. Add that to driving on the wrong side of the road and you too will go over the O'Connell Street Bridge 15 times in 10 minutes.

I learned stick on an old Chevy truck (early 60's model) that had 3 on the tree, and the gears were so loose you would just kind of wiggle the shifter around until you found a gear, and hoped it was the one you wanted.

Manual transmissions vs. auto: That said, I had fun using the auto stick in manual mode and shifting (albeit with no clutch needed) in the 1980s Mercedes sedans, the 2011 Buick Regal, and the 2015 BMW 328i. In '21, staying in the hilly suburbs of Birmingham, AL, I found great entertainment in shifting to manual mode in the Buick LaCrosse and traversing a twisty residential road with some fairly steep climbs. (Nothing like in CO, but I was out of practice for hill driving, and had to adjust.)

Posted by: Joe Mannix -------- I tend to stay in the mainstream on vehicles because I don't have my identity tied up in them. Drove far too many different vehicles over the years including for work to get sentimental much about them. By avoiding the 'premium' models, one can pretty much find components from wrecked vehicles if nothing else. At a certain age though, these dry up. Here it is:
Scientists think they have found a way to double the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries. (Science Daily) Lithium-ion batteries wear out a little each time they are recharged (and have another flaw that if you keep them on the charger full-time they can swell up and destroy your expensive gadget entirely). In testing the effects of different charging patterns, researchers found that charging with high-frequency AC power caused half as much wear as regular DC power. It should be cheap and simple to implement as well. https://tinyurl.com/4acj93me Posted by: Braenyard at April 16, 2024 12:13 PM (uyqzN) 480
