Furthermore, a universal sales tax benefits H1Bs and other people who come to the US, live modestly, earn their wages with no taxes applied and then return to their homeland and live like royalty. Basically you are rewarding people to sponge off the suckers who retire in the US.

The idea is that you get rid of all other taxes so there are no carve outs. Everyone (even visa holders) have to buy things while they are here unless you are saying they just... won't eat, drink or sleep for whatever amount of time.

Regardless, it will never happen. Our current system that would make the Byzantines blush is doing such a bang up job and everyone likes the special carve outs, so we'll just stick with that.
