72 I don't care for this style all that much. At least it's not as abstract as some Cubist styles. But I do like Rosen's use of color to reflect the season, the worn sense of the town and ferry landing, and the way he suggests the reflections in the water. It feels comfortable.

I really prefer his earlier landscapes done with an Impressionistic style.

We have only two ferries in the metro area that I know of, one pedestrian ($2/person each way!) and one for vehicles and pedestrians. And in classic Da Swamp fashion, the latter is out of service because a bridge leading to it on the other side of the river is damaged.

Miss Linda and I rode the pedestrian ferry right after Christmas last year. It surprised me: The boat is new, the interior is up-to-date, it ran on time. Kind of worth the $8 round trip for two people, I guess.

This is true. I made it a long time ago, and it was indeed a pain in the ass. Lots of ingredients.

When I lived in CA I used to go to a great Vietnamese restaurant near Oakland's Chinatown. The chef was classically trained, and the broth was incredibly intense and incredibly clear. My favorite was Pho with Duck Leg. It was a revelation!

And yes...the restaurant is closed, just like most great places in Oakland.

111 The ATF can’t go after NRA members over guns with pistol braces on them. That’s the outcome of a preliminary injunction issued by a federal judge on Friday. US District Judge Sam A. Lindsay sided with the gun-rights group and enjoined the federal agency from enforcing its rule reclassifying pistol-brace-equipped guns as short barrel rifles (SBRs) under the 1934 National Firearms Act (NFA). The decision keeps any NRA member who owns a braced gun from facing six-figure fines or imprisonment if they didn’t register their gun by last year’s deadline–something most owners didn’t do.

122 200 Mystery Guests On Epstein's "Pedo Island"

Data from nearly 200 mobile devices reveal the exact path taken by visitors to Jeffrey Epstein's notorious 'pedo island,' which was tracked to 80 cities around the world spanning 26 states or territories.

Officially, this data is intended to be used by companies hoping to determine where potential customers work and reside. But in October 2023, the Journal revealed that Near had once provided data to the US military via a maze of obscure marketing companies, cutouts, and conduits to defense contractors. Bankruptcy records reviewed by WIRED show that in April 2023, Near Intelligence signed a yearlong contract with another firm called nContext, a subsidiary of the defense contractor Sierra Nevada. -Wired

When the parents' next-door neighbors moved, a very nice Vietnamese family moved in. Despite the language barrier, the RMBS Mom and the grandmother compare gardening notes, and they always bring her a birdbath sized bowl of Pho and other stuff on holidays. If they realize I'm around, they'll go back and get another birdbath. She's a fantastic cook. Great folks.

128 The Rude Pundit: It's Not Just the Pandemic. We're Traumatized Because of Trump and the MAGA Movement...I'm not disagreeing with the pair of doctors who wrote in The Atlantic that everyone is grappling with at least residual emotional detritus from the Covid pandemic...

...the pandemic brain-raped us, we're letting the real rapists off the hook, and one of them is an actual and not metaphorical rapist. We don't know if the start of the pandemic would have gone differently if anyone else had been president other than Trump, but, c'mon, we all fucking know...we were so traumatized by Trump's failure, we turned to Andrew Cuomo for comfort, and that led to a lot of us making walks of shame afterwards.

We are stuck in this doom loop, a cosmic algorithm of despair is keeping our content chaotic. If it's the "era of bad feelings," as some have called it, it's not just the pandemic. It's because it's the Trump era. It's the MAGA era.

...it's why we need Trump convicted and not just defeated at the polls. We need someone to fucking blame and punish them for it. It won't solve the trauma, but at least we know he won't be able to inflict more.

Nah, but a sizable percentage of them being used for the drug trade isn't inconceivable. It was a large percentage of Benjamins that have cocaine on 'em, from what I've read. Big blocks of $100 notes are used for big deals. If we still $500 notes, it'd probably be those ones, but we don't.

247 How it’s going: Biden to cap rent rises at 10% in new affordable housing ploy: White House to unveil plan that could stop landlords upcharging on millions of homes.

—The London Daily Mail, March 29th, 2024.

Will Sundown Joe’s handlers go the full Nixon, next?

On Sunday night television, Nixon presented his New Economic Policy, a cynical plan that helped his political prospects at substantial cost to the long-term economy. He immediately closed the gold window, ending the convertibility of dollars to gold. He imposed temporary wage and price controls. He asked Congress for a tax credit that was frontloaded for maximum impact pre-election, even as he slapped a surcharge on imports.

Even worse, the large corporate holders of rental units can just sell them to each other each year.

Yet again, it's the individual "small business" owner that only has a few units who doesn't have the resources to engage in that sort of paperwork every year nor the contacts to do the trade that is going to lose out.

I baked a three year cushion in the rent I'm charging in anticipation of Democrat shenanigans.

This is going to end up f**king both the renters and the landlords.

But that's pretty part of the plan with the lunatics and maniacs that are in charge right now.

Which of course is objectively true.

But the interesting thing is the leftwing response to this - namely a bunch of the things RFK is claiming about started out under Trump. The fact they were used AGAINST Trump even though Trump was president at the time doesn't matter apparently...

JK Rowling dares police to arrest her for 'misgendering' after Scottish hate crime law takes effect

This new Scottish Law is pretty good evidence that Covid or the vax was engineered to create world-wide retardation, metal instability and infantilism.

If I've got this right - it is now illegal to call an insane man or woman their proper biological/genetic sex if the insane person insists that they are the opposite sex.

So, the insane person delusions trump both simple reality, biology and the speaker's rights not to mention any common basis for Western law, is that correct?

Because if so Scotland the Brave is now Scotland the Kookoobananas.

They are really voting for this?
