The Classical Saturday Morning Coffee Break & Prayer Revival (3/30/24)

rise-shine-20210908-114.jpg

*****

Good morning Horde. Saturday again. And the last Saturday of March to boot. March was in like a lamb and going out like a lion here in the frozen tundra.

Before we get into the Prayer Revival just a few housekeeping matters (Rulz for those of you in Sheboygan).

1) This is an open thread, feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate away.
2) Even trolls have feelings please practice "Tough Love".
3) Running with sharp objects will prevent you from your gift of jelly beans.
4) Have a nice weekend!

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

2/3 -Washington Nearsider has been and remains sincerely grateful for the prayers and well-wishes of the Horde. He has withdrawn his TSP and has enough money left to get through late March – early April. He will accrue debt with the custody hearings which begin 3/6. He has 3 interviews scheduled for the week of 2/5. He is also attempting to expand his custom model building services to bring in additional income by leaning on 20 years of experience building models of all kinds: building planes, tanks, ships, etc. Please contact him through the comments or email Annie’s Stew, and she can send you his direct contact information. He sends his thanks for his daily dose of sanity in an otherwise crazy world, and for the constant stream of wonderful Fani Willis euphemisms.
3/14 Update – Washington Nearsider lost custody of his children on March 13. The judge agreed to re-evaluate the custody arrangements after Nearsider’s income has returned to its previous level, which is a win. His savings will be entirely depleted at the end of the month, and thus far, his prospects seem poor. He’s had one job offer for a position in Ohio which would replace 70% of his previous salary, but he doesn’t want to move away from his children, and moving out of state while going through family court is frowned upon. Hopefully something good will happen soon.
3/27 Update – Washington Nearsider posted that his savings are gone as of this week. He is still working at Home Depot for insurance for the children, but that doesn’t pay enough to cover other bills. He is hoping to post to the weekend Hobby Thread about his custom models (aircraft, tanks, ships).

2/3 – Reforger asked for prayers for his Coworker, “D”, a widowed mom of 4 who is having a rough time with daughter #1. The daughter is skipping school, was caught 3 times and now police and social workers are involved. “D” is beside herself. She is having to miss work (and pay) to do probation stuff and keep appointments with “therapists”.
2/10 Update – Reforger reports that Coworker “D” and her daughter are doing better. He also relayed a funny story that ended up with him being able to bless “D” with another $200!
3/2 Update – Coworker D’s daughter had to be incarcerated. She went nuts, trashed her room, broke things, and even kicked a cop. She could use a lot of prayers.

2/10 – Berserker-Dragonheads Division is in the hospital. He had a cardiac cath, then was sent straight in for bypass surgery.
2/11 Update – He had 2 arteries 100% blocked, 1 that was 95%, and another that was 80%. So he had a quad. He says the hospital and staff are great.
3/2 Update – He is healing well ahead of schedule.

2/27 – rhennigantx asked for prayers for his friend Tim, who had a stroke on Sunday.
3/9 Update – Prayers are still needed for Tim and his daughters. They are moving Tim to a rehab hospital.

2/29 – DaveT asks for prayers. We had prayed in the past for him, as he was trying to save his cats and his home from repossession (due to a relative who burdened the family home with debt). DaveT is over 65 and is not able to work much. The cats are elderly and one is blind, and the only family he has. Things had turned around and it looked like he was going to be fine last summer, but now a new judge is on the case and seems to want to kick DaveT and the cats out of the house. Please pray. If anyone wants to contribute, Annie’s Stew has the details of his givesendgo.
3/20 Update – The sham trial took place on 3/20. The judge would not allow DaveT to speak or give any evidence. He is still taking donations for a new appeal.

3/2 – Sa: tolle adversarium et afflige inimicum at asked for prayers for those affected by the Panhandle wildfires. Many still own their land, but literally nothing else.

3/2 – Eromero thanked the Lord for the many blessings already received, for placing each of us on His path, and for the strength to resist temptation, and for Jesus, who paid for our sins.

3/2 – Matthew Kant Cipher asked for prayers for his SIL, whose brother (late forties) died suddenly/unexpectedly this week.

3/2 – FortWorthMike sent some updates. The good news is that his grand niece, who we prayed for when she was in need of a kidney transplant, celebrated her 5th birthday. She is doing well. She is still trying to learn to eat, as she was tube fed since birth. She has a long journey, but the kid is amazing and FortWorthMike attributes it to the miracle of our prayers finding her a donor. The bad news is, his MIL suffered a fall several months back. He got her through the broken bones, but they found cancer. She has been through chemo and radiation. As she is 87, it took a lot out of her. She could use prayers for strength and healing.

3/2 – Vmom posted and asked for prayers for her pup, who had emergency surgery a couple of weeks ago. He popped a couple of stitches and has to wear the cone for a few more weeks. Also, her husband is having issues recovering from Covid.

3/2 – Artruen asked for prayers for his sister. Her son “Mick” was killed on his motorcycle a few weeks ago on his way to church. Mick was a good man: a proud US Marine (three tours in hot zones), proud American, proud Texan, proud father of two beautiful children. He lived hard and fast and is greatly missed.

3/2 – Fox2! Asked for prayers for Margaret K (to overcome alcoholism), Brooke V (to watch over her, a young woman from a broken family), Janet K (to guide and watch over her and her family).

3/3 – Commissar of Plenty and Lysenkoism in Solidarity with the Struggle to maintain Moron standards asked for prayers as he is scared to death of some much-needed surgery. Pain, healing, iyiyi! Even the red tape involved in scheduling. Thank you all again!
3/18 Update – The surgery is scheduled for 4/5.

3/9 – Jim (in Kalifornia) posted that his father-in-law passed away.

3/9 – Mindful webworker posted that his beloved wife (MiladyJo) will be having a second hip replacement. Prayers that this one also goes well, and ends years of terrible pain.
3/16 Update – MiladyJo now has matching titanium hips and is home, scooting around and recovering. As for Mindful webworker’s health status, he is still waiting to hear when they can go back in to work on his guts and possibly fix him up.

3/9 – Cybersmythe had a job interview. It went well, but he is asking for prayers that it went well enough.
3/16 Update – The job went to someone else who already had experience programming the equipment. He said after last week’s conversation and some reflection, he decided he should hope for guidance to the right position and the wisdom to recognize it when it appears.

3/9 – RedMindBlueState asked for prayers for her dear friend who miscarried Wednesday. Again.

3/9 – Halfhand asks for prayers and support for her dear friend and former neighbor, Kathleen, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She has undergone a double mastectomy and is healing well. She starts radiation in March and the first reconstruction surgery in April.

3/9 – Emmie sends her thanks to the Horde for their prayers on behalf of Mr. Bassman as he recovers from knee replacement. He’s doing great! He is dedicated to his PT routines.

3/9 – Hadrian the Seventh asked for prayers for Her Majesty, who is having knee replacement surgery. He’d like prayers for a successful operation, but also an uneventful recovery. Her previous surgery in 2019 (on the other knee) was marked by great pain and the effect of the medication was terrible.

3/9 – Piper sent news about her daughter and her eye issue. Her doctor said the MRI results were everything they hoped for, that he knew the radiologist and trusts the reading. At this point, they will wait 6 months and then check again. But he said they should celebrate – doctor’s orders!

3/9 – Dr_No asked for prayers for his daughter, Megan. We had prayed for her in 2021, when she had cancer. Her cancer is still in remission, but she has blood clots in her lungs. She went to the local ER, where they said everything was normal. She sent a message to her PCP, to ask her to review the situation. She is still weak, and gets tired if a conversation lasts more than 1-2 sentences. Please pray that she be restored to full health. Thanks once again to the Horde for the help.

3/14 – Tonypete requests prayers for the family of their borrowed grandbaby. His Mom and Dad are in the final stages of adoption of two brothers – 18 months and 2 years old. The boys have been in foster care since birth. Prayers are requested for a speedy conclusion to the process. Also prayers for the boys’ mother – 28 years old, nine children all by different fathers, and all have been removed from her home by CPS.

3/16 – Moron Robbie asked for prayers for an older buddy, who has been generally unhealth for a while now and just got over the flu, but now has pneumonia.

3/16 PaleRider asked for prayers for wisdom and serenity for himself and his siblings. His father died on 3/15. Dad had been slowly fading away for 1.5 years, so it was not a big shock. He thinks that settling the estate will go smoothly, but prayers are welcome.

3/16 – Winston, GOPe, McFailure wing of the Uniparty humbly asks for prayers for friends of friends who are stuck in Haiti with their two adopted children and four foundlings that have been in their family for several years. These are good, God-fearing Christians who have lived and taught and built homes there, as well as cared for orphans. Of course, being Christians, they are at the bottom of the list for extraction.

3/20 – Inogame sent an update. We had prayed for him and his wife when they had trouble conceiving. On 3/19, about 8:30 pm, his wife went into labor… and before 10 pm she gave birth to a little girl in their bathroom, with a midwife on the phone assuring Inogame he wouldn’t drop the baby. He didn’t and Mom and baby are doing well, and prayers for their health are appreciated. In an unrelated prayer request, Inogame asks for prayers for a good friend from childhood is struggling with addiction. He checked into an in-patient facility for 30 days to save his job and hopefully his life. He is lost and needs help to find his way.

3/23 – Jewells would appreciate prayers for her niece, who is in the hospital for the second time in a week. She was diagnosed with pneumonia the first time, but still felt awful. She went back to ER, and they admitted her again. Her oxygen level was 76. She is the niece who is fighting cervical cancer.

3/23 – Sock Monkey asks for prayers for his BIL, who we prayed for before, does have a cancerous mass on his spine. He spent 8 weeks in the hospital. He is walking with a walker and making significant progress. The battle plan is to start cancer treatments in mid-April.

3/23 – Fenelon Spoke needs prayers for Jessie, their “retired” organist. Jesse had fallen. Nothing was broken, but it is a setback for her and she is in pain.

3/23 – NR Pax asked for prayers. He is leaving his current job on 3/29 and starting a new one the following week. Please pray for the transition.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.

7 I gave up on the "perkatory" pot waiting. I didn't go Keurig either since I like my coffee fresh. My wife showed up one evening with a new necklace on and I was like "thats pretty on you hon, is it new?" and she said "you got it for my for our anniversary!" Well, completely gobsmacked by that revelation (that apparently I have a thoughtful, attentive dopleganger who must be getting all the action in the bedroom - I took it upon myself to buy a new coffee maker... one that would be a cup-sized brew since I have wildly different coffee intake day-to-day. So I got the DeLonghi grind and brew from Williams Sonoma. It makes the best cup of coffee but damn it makes a mess.

22 Morning, coffee people! Still cool and shadowy here this am; the sun will be up soon, I know, and we're heading for the mid-70s. Plus humidity will be back as of Monday.

Funny, but since I lost weight by changing my diet to head off diabetes II, I don't feel the heat quite the same way. Maybe the steambath of spring and early summer won't seem so horrible. That does NOT mean I don't want to flee this pesthole; I do. But maybe the conditions won't be so debilitating and will-sapping.

24 Good morning and happy Holy Saturday!

Chateau Lloyd has been swept with illness to the extent that I had to leave work early Thursday to help with the grandkids. Their mother has narcolepsy and this particular bug induces fatigue, so she slept almost uninterrupted for two days.

I have it, but my version is very mild, everyone else, including my wife, have been floored by it. My middle kid has actually been going on an illness merry-go-round for a while; she gets sick, recovers and then gets sick again. She wonders what's going on, because she never got sick growing up.

The answer of course is she took the Vaxx, which plays havoc with young people. I've suggested that she receive the Anointing of the Sick after next week. This is a powerful Sacrament and has brought healing to me and our family.

36 The new Hamilton Beach microwave I bought on Wednesday at Walmart is working out fine. It's a 900 watt. I thought I needed at least 1000, since a lot of things I cook in the MW say they're set for 1100, but I've found that if you add a little extra time, even 5-10 seconds, to something, it comes out piping hot all the way through. And .9 cu. ft. capacity is fine for even my big dinner plates.

The old Sunbeam I have to load into the HB's box and drop off at the dumpster. Since I don't know what went wrong with it, I hesitate to bring it to a thrift store, but maybe that would be better?

Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports Gold Star, fallen first responder, and catastrophically injured veteran families with mortgage-free homes and smart homes. It also offers educational resources, endurance events, and a 9/11 mobile exhibit.

I heard yesterday they paid off the mortgage to the fallen NYC police officers home. Allan Bragg had nothing to do with it, the Governor of New York had nothing to do with it, Leticia James had nothing to do with it, the Mayor of New York City had nothing to do with it...

Hit Ace's tip jar of course, but also consider sending a little their way.

For whatever reason, my system is very sensitive to weight gain. When I got out of Army Basic I weighed 162, and in the years since, I found 170-5 to be comfortable. As I've gotten older, my metabolism has slowed down, and so I started to see my weight creep up and when it got up to 193, I was mess. I didn't sleep well, was always overheating, joints ached. A lot less energy.

I'm down to 179 again, and have stalled for the last couple of weeks because I decided to do some weight training. Put simply, I took a vacation from fitness training after leaving the Guard and it's time to get back to it.

Okay, I'm going to give a Trump W this morning. A mutual friend of mine lives in NY. His neighbor is the funeral director doing the wake for the NYC cop just killed the other day. He met with the widow and the department. While she was in his office, the Port Authority president said there was a call for her. It was Trump.

A few minutes after that she got a call from Tunnel To Towers and they are paying off her mortgage. 🙏

It's harder to denounce someone if they are standing there. This is why the internet is such a curse, because you can use "fighting words" without getting punched in the nose.

If they all show up, they will try to intimidate the mourners so as not to cause "a scene." And yeah, they want voters to see them frowning sadly and then they can do soundbites about gun control.

Our Father, we thank you for the blessing of adoption bestowed on # 9. May this child grow strong in spirit and stature. May they never know a day that they do not know and love you, and have real parents who raise them up in the way they should go. Finally, I ask for forgiveness, because of my lack of compassion. I know you created this precious child in your own image, as well as the mother. May it be your will that she come to a knowledge of your saving grace.

Another organization I never heard of 'Barstool Sports' also raised another $750,000 for the widow and their son. Dave Portnoy (the owner of Barstool Sports I suppose) vowed to match funds accumulated through the sale of the company’s shirts honoring Diller, which would increase the total to $1.5 million.

So hopefully she'll be able to pay off the revenuers.

75 T2T is one of our chosen small causes; we find Ol' Frank pretty trustable, and the charity navigators bear it out. They have recently broadened the scope of their endeavor, to providing housing for homeless veterans.

Not a thing wrong with the concept, but, applicants and case histories being so different, I predict some severe criticisms are about to seep in. 'Helping the homeless,' in general terms, opens you up to a lot of skuldugggery. You might pray that the administrators of that fund continue to be blessed with excellent judgement and purpose.

129 I did see that the dead cop's friends and family bounced that leatherfaced virago Hochul from his funeral.

I understand this is a special circumstance, and that for the most part, our ruling class is increasingly aloof and voluntarily isolated, because they fear, hate, and are confused by their subjects.

But I like little stories like these. They're a break from the past, when everyone at least grudgingly respected the rulers, and deferred to them. It's just these little things, like sports fans shouting "fuck the President," or Lindsey Graham getting booed off stage in his home state last month.

They give me hope that Americans are growing restive and more ready to be rid of the regime.

Blinken and biden's most ridiculous mistake right now is that they go to Jewish audiences in the US and say "oh yes we support you, we vote for weapons for you" and the next day they tell muslim audiences in the US "oh those dirty joos we're going to block them at the UN"

they keep trying to openly play both sides against the middle, and they wonder why everyone hates them for it.

Here's how we look at it: Closure is not really the right word. We have lived and breathed the situation for fifteen years. Occam's razor has suggested one scenario all along, but we could never get the local LEOs to take any interest in proving that scenario. So it has been an odd mix of certainty and at the same time doubt. Knowing what happened will provide some vindication and an opportunity to lay his bones to rest, but it will remain with us as an integral part of our lives forever. Maybe 'integration' is a better word than 'closure'

The left does not build anything. It has no positive vision, just one of destruction, so it builds resentment by picking a common enemy and mobilizing against it. Once they get power, they then turn on their own coalition. In Spain, they didn't wait for victory, and tried to purge their ranks while fighting a war because they hated each other so much.

I went through something similar a couple of years ago. After the ice storm of 2012, we decided to create a reserve of canned/shelf stable food for a similar event, and slowly built up a stockpile. The kids were supposed to rotate new cans with old ones, but never did.

So one fine day I went down to do it myself, and glanced at the bottom of the can. Seven years past due. That led to a nice Saturday project of pulling all of the food upstairs and seeing how it had aged. The evaporated milk fared poorly, having congealed into a rubberish state. The veggies were mostly okay, but smelled very strongly. Concentrated pea smell is extraordinary.

Since then, we've reorganized it all, and have those can sorter things you load from the top. I also have stickers for the shorter-term stuff (like canned beef) so I can see at a glance which ones we should open first.

Easter is pretty closely tied to Passover.

The whole "Christianity stole pagan holidays" is modern idiocy, fueled by secular ignorance. The patterns of life are universal and it was the pagans who corrupted God's harmony when they rebelled against God.

The reason why there is so much overlap isn't some sort of weird "cultural borrowing," it was because the fallen angels stuck with what they know.

Thus, these days were returned to the rightful owner: God.

they come from a time long before our modern calendar system, which was mostly a creation of the Romans, and modified a lot over the centuries. Time was reckoned by moons (hence month = moonth) The Jewish Passover is tied to the first full moon after the vernal equinox, although it can get complicated. Since Easter is connected to Passover, the First Council of Nicaea in 325 determined that Easter should always fall on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox.

Yes, the Bible is the true account of creation, and the modern conceit that it was plagiarized is entirely the result of academic bias. It's weird how the standards of scholarship are so different depending on what you are studying.

For example, secular records get far less scrutiny than religious ones. The text is generally taken at face value, often because we have no other information.

But religious stuff has to be "interrogated" and "given context" so that its "true meaning" is known.

Leftard binary logic. Remember the Spotted owl? Apparently, around 1904, the more common Barred owl began moving into their territory and out competing them. They failed to mention that when they were busy decimating the PNW logging industry. Newest government plan is to "cull" 5000 barred owls. One problem they have is that both owls are very similar in appearance, the Barrred owl being slightly larger. I'm sure this will work out fine.

What they didn't tell her was that her ulna had actually broken and the end that mates to the humerus had broken off and was free-floating. If you have an internet connection or cell phone, they know everything about you.

Probably but I used to deal with very large datasets and have to merge them---data quality is a beast of an animal especially if you do not personally curate the data itself.

Sort of like the earlier discussion on Pixy's overnight thread about open source software (or even closed source). For the most part, we trust the software/data/company/gubmint/etc. that we deal with is honest and competent.

Wasn't so even in the era of the Stasi who DID use a massive number of informants to check up physically on what the paper dossiers say.

Great news! The year I converted (2006) was a big year as well. Because my wife needed her previous marriage annulled, we had to wait until Pentecost to enter the Church.

Which was when I received my third baptism. Life can be complicated.

I agree. They want to destroy as much of traditional America as they can, and rely on the cheat to remain in power.

I suspect that this same rationale of destroying tradition and cheating is going on right now in Canada, Holland, Poland, etc.

Honestly, I don't think they care if they win this election, in any real sense.

The plot clearly is to wreck the country as badly as they can, so that it's impossible to even come close to normalcy and reviving the economy in 4 years.

The Democrats will rely on their Hawaiian judges and others to hamstring Trump, not matter what he does.

And rely on the MSM, and their brownshirts to burn, loot, murder and create the chaos that they'll blame Trump for.

Don't be surprised if all the foreign saboteurs jump in the game, since they've been given free access for 4 years to plan their destruction.

I know this is not a maths thread, but doing certain matrix maths on datasets results in connections between various people. There was an example someone came up with where they took known members of certain organizations and using such math, were able to find the key people amongst the groups. Interesting stuff, and I'm sure the Gov't uses their massive computer center in the desert to crunch those datasets to derive useful data on who to go after.

the other thing is to try to figure out if the databases you are using to verify a data point is not merely a copy of the database you are trying to verify. Certain constellations of databases are just dubs and echo chambers.

I am familiar with it and it is similar to all sorts of information analysis. This is example of it being applied to find Paul Revere in a tongue in cheek analysis of Revolutionary data https://tinyurl.com/yk5yesrz

The issue though is when you repetitively add dataset after dataset similar to how Large Language Model AI degrades into insanity. I curate the data going into a model, I can get decent output. I use open source data from more and more sources then my overall data integrity drops.

This is another display of the malice/incompetence question.
3/31 has been the "Transgender Day of Visibility" for the last ten years. It just happens to coincide Easter this year.
