Time euphemizes these hypochondriac control freaks as "the covid-cautious."

Covid cautious, fascism friendly.

For all of 2020, Alex, a 28-year-old living in New York, followed the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) COVID-19 guidance "religiously."

Then, in 2021, something began to shift. That spring, the CDC said it was okay for vaccinated people to ditch their masks in most places. But people were clearly still getting sick--including Alex, who got COVID-19 for the first time in late 2021 and later developed Long COVID symptoms.

Of course he got "long covid." It just always turns out that the hypochondriacs always suffer from the illnesses that doctors suspect aren't quite real.

"There was this reckoning moment where it was like, 'Maybe the CDC is not being totally honest with us about the situation,' he says. "'Maybe they're trying to present it like we can go back to normal when we can't.'"

You started out strong, then you went off the rails.

[T]o Alex, it feels less like progress than an attempt to "wrap [the pandemic] up in a pretty bow" and pretend everything is fine. That being said. It's 2024 and my streak remains in effect. The last time I had symptoms of illness was a runny nose back in 5th grade (about 40 years ago, btw). All bow down to me...apparently I'm what they call hyper-Immune (and not just to Covid). I've tested for covid twice. The first time was when I actually did most likely have covid. It was negative.

The second time was to get on a cruise ship. It was negative.

Dolley still tests herself every time she gets sick because if she tests positive she doesn't have to drive into the office. She hasn't tested positive for covid since we moved here, though.

Paul actually presented a truth. I lived next store to a 'greatest generation' guy. He was on deaths door already. I had talked to his oldest son and with my most politeness possible suggested his Dad was too old to drive anymore. His brain was fried, and his daughter came to live with them in the final year of his life as she knew his time was near. He probably died of old age with Covid. And yes, viruses are going to virus. You are going to get more sick if you are run down as is what happens when caring for your parent in that stressful situation. You aren’t at your peak, which is why some colds are sniffles, and others knock you on your patoot for a bit.

Hah! My wife's 'concern level' went to 11 and she sewed in three levels of fabric into my/her mask. My mask turned orange in spring 2011. I live in pollen central command headquarters. I laugh about it while she sneezes her head off.
