Trump Files Suit Against George Stephanopolous and Disney Frontgroup ABC "News"

This is the way.

Former President Donald Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos, claiming his reputation was tarnished by the anchor saying multiple times on-air that Trump had been found liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll.

Trump filed the lawsuit in federal court in Miami on Monday over a viral interview between US Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Stephanopoulos on "This Week" on March 10, according to The Hill.

The suit takes aim at Stephanopoulos' questioning for saying Trump had been found "liable for rape" when a jury in a Manhattan civil case last year only found Trump liable for sexual abuse under New York law.

...

In a 20-page complaint, Trump's attorney Alejandro Brito, accused Stephanopoulos of making the false statements "with actual malice or with a reckless disregard for the truth." The lawsuit claims the statements were distributed widely to third parties and repeated.

...

"Indeed, the jury expressly found that Plaintiff did not commit rape and, as demonstrated below, Defendant George Stephanopoulos was aware of the jury's finding in this regard yet still falsely stated otherwise," Brito continued.

...

ABC News declined to comment, while a rep for George Stephanopoulos did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Remember, Trump was just hit with an absurdly high judgment for having supposedly "defamed" fame chaser E. Jean Carroll by denying his own guilt.

Will NY courts decide that leftwing propagandists can state as fact that he's a rapist, in defiance of the jury decision they take so much pride in? Does the law of defamation only work to protect liberals in NY?

That's rhetorical, of course.

In related Trump news, mentally-ill shut-in Keith Olbermann openly wished for Trump's assassination on Twitter.

Keith Olbermann has sparked outrage by saying "there's always the hope" that former President Donald Trump will be treated worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated.

The former MSNBC host was reacting on X to a video clip reposted by President Biden's campaign HQ in which the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Lincoln and Andrew Jackson were treated the worst in their lifetimes -- while complaining that "nobody comes close to Trump."

"Trump says he has been treated worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated," the Biden campaign account archly pointed out.

Olbermann responded: "There's always the hope."

...

"Nothing to see here... Just Keith Olbermann openly wishing d*ath upon Trump," Libs of TikTok wrote.

Many argued that Olbermann should be booted from X for potentially violating the platform's terms of service, with some tagging owner Elon Musk.

"This account should be permanently suspended," one critic with 83,000 followers fumed.

Apparently the threat of being banned from the service he's addicted to worried the mentally-ill bent man, because he deleted the tweet and then lied about its clear meaning.

Olbermann appears to have deleted the message on his X account, which has more than 984,000 followers. He responded to the backlash by saying his "hope" was about Trump being treated badly.

"I'm hoping Trump's right, that he IS treated worse than Lincoln. As I've said for 9 years: THAT HE'S CONVICTED, THEN DIES IN PRISON," he wrote.

I know nobody with an IQ greater than a halibut's has believed @FoxNews since 1996 but even from their whores this is idiotic

The RT clearly shows I'm hoping Trump's right, that he IS treated worse than Lincoln. As I've said for 9 years: THAT HE'S CONVICTED, THEN DIES IN PRISON pic.twitter.com/pBRznpLNvD

-- Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) March 18, 2024

Trump should sue this shut-in, too. If not for this threat -- I'm not sure it can construed as a threat -- then for Olbermann's many libelous claims in the past.

In more Trump legal news: Trump has joined his co-defendants in appealing "Judge" McAfee's cowardly and corrupt decision to let the politician he donated to remain on the Trump prosecution.

"President Trump and seven defendants have jointly filed a motion requesting the Court to grant a certificate of immediate review of its Order denying dismissal of the case and disqualification of Fulton County DA Willis. The motion notes that the Court found that Willis' actions created an appearance of impropriety and an "odor of mendacity" that lingers in this case, but it nonetheless refused to dismiss the case or disqualify her. The motion further notes that the Court found Georgia case law lacks controlling precedent for the standard for disqualification of a prosecuting attorney for forensic misconduct. For these reasons among others, the Court's Order is ripe for pretrial appellate review."

Trump has also notified the New York Courts that he cannot free up $460+ million for "Tish" James' rogue prosecution. The law of New York states that he has to deliver over this half-billion dollars just to appeal the ruling forcing him to pay.

Legal experts are weighing in on Donald Trump's options after attorneys for the former president said he has not been able to secure a $464 million appeal bond he needs following a New York civil fraud judgment against him.

Trump's lawyers wrote in a Monday court filing that obtaining the nearly half-a-billion appeal was a "practical impossibility under the circumstances presented."

David Gelman, a criminal defense attorney and a former deputy district attorney, called the judgment a "unicorn." He argued that the judge should give Trump a lot more leeway to satisfy the bond because "not even the richest man in the world has $464 million lying around."

A New York Appeals Court judge denied Trump's request late last month to delay payment of the $464 million owed as a result of the lawsuit brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, but said he would temporarily allow the 2024 front-runner and his sons to continue running their business during the appeals process.

A New York Appeals Court judge previously ruled that the former president must post a bond for the full amount of the judgment and that an independent director of compliance will be appointed.

Finally: Nigel Farrage has been making an issue about non-prince Harry's emigration to the US. He wants to see Harry's visa applications, to find out if he lied about his history of drug use. Harry admits to using illegal drugs in his tawdry tell-some book Spare.

Farrage interviewed Trump and asked about this. Trump indicated that it's possible he'd look into the matter.

Former President Donald Trump has once again hinted that if he is re-elected president, Prince Harry may face deportation from the US if he is found to have lied about his drug use on his visa paperwork.

GB News' Nigel Farage asked Trump on Tuesday whether Prince Harry should have "special privileges" if it's discovered he lied on his visa application -- as the royal's immigration status has become embroiled in a legal battle after he admitted to taking illegal drugs in his memoir.

"No. We'll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied, they'll have to take appropriate action," Trump is quoted as saying in a preview of the interview.

Trump sat down in an interview with Nigel Farage of GN News, which will air Tuesday. GB News

When pressed on whether "appropriate action" might mean deportation, Trump did not provide a clear answer.

"Oh, I don't know. You'll have to tell me. You just have to tell me. You would have thought they would have known this a long time ago," the former president said.

...

Trump, 77, has previously made comments about the Duke of Sussex's immigration status, warning that if he is re-elected in 2024, Prince Harry would be "on his own" following his "unforgivable" betrayal of Queen Elizabeth II.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Md., last month, Trump criticized President Biden's administration for being "too gracious" to the Sussexes ever since Harry and his American wife, Meghan Markle, moved to California in 2020.

"I wouldn't protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That's unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me," the former president told the Express, as he claimed Biden's administration had given the immigrant special privileges.

So, drug use generally makes you ineligible for a visa, but the Department of Homeland Security argues -- pitifully -- that maybe Harry was just lying in his book.

These are the people "protecting" the US.

24 "The law of New York states that he has to deliver over this half-billion dollars just to appeal the ruling forcing him to pay."

Ace, I don't think that's technically correct. Trump can appeal the ruling without posting any bond at all. Taking the appeal itself is not the problem. The problem is that an appeal does not stay execution of the underlying ruling.

So if Trump appeals as per normal, the ruling that he has to pay a gajillion dollars in fines is not stayed and could be collected on. Under NY law, enforcement is automatically stayed if you post a bond. That's what all the bond mischegas is about.

There is also a discretionary stay that can be ordered by a judge. The fact that no judge has ordered a stay pending appeal shows just how clearly this is nothing more than a witch hunt to ruin a political enemy.

If they did it to Trump, they could to it to YOU, and if they say they won't, they were just after Trump, you believe they won't go after you if they can make a few bucks?

I keep seeing references to the idea that emigres are actually, on balance, very conservative to red states.

2020 marked the beginning of the Great Migration, and it is obviously of a vastly different nature from previous efforts at things like colonization (Californians to Colorado, for instance).

Remember, one part of DeSantis winning by 19 instead of .5 in 2022 compared to 2018 was the net migration to Florida (the other being cleaning up voting).

I continue to maintain that conservatives are fleeing blue states for red states. Progressives are fleeing blue cities for the suburbs.

That's how the founders wanted it. Gov't has no rights, only powers, and the more power they have, the worse the abuse becomes. I mean, it's not like the Gov't couldn't put out messages saying Vax opposition was BS (even though it wasn't), but that's NOT what the Gov't did; the Gov't decided to SUPPRESS any information (true or otherwise, but mostly true) that didn't support the Regime/deep state narrative by using Mafia-style "It'd be a shame if..." tactics.

Didn't the judge in the second case rule that in regular use, what he did was in fact rape. An obscure state legal wording doesn't change the fact that the general usage of the term and the official federal government definition considers penetration by a finger to be rape.

George and ABC are going to have to get in line to try to recoup their legal fees once this shit gets tossed, at best, if they even ever qualify for such.

He was upset that a Christian woman was being a "hypocrite" in his eyes for not supporting gay marriage/homosexuality, yet helping gay couples at her work as a realtor find homes. My point was, If she hadn't helped them, she'd be out of a job, so in his mind it was "damned if she did, damned if she didn't". Also, not approving of someone's lifestyle has little to do with helping them find a house.

That is, he will be able to appeal the inevitable denial of the now pending bond reduction request--without posting bond, as that's under appeal, and also while freezing any enforce of the verdict.

So while the left is strutting and crowing, "brawak! Trump is broke!" he's actually setting up the appeal with no bond.

181 Think about it. NY;
- Extended the statute of limitations for certain so called "crimes" just to go after Trump
- NY then, ex post facto and using a Democrat AG used these laws to charge Trump with crimes
- A clearly partial Democrat judge with no experience in real estate put his own values on real estate holdings, ignoring the experts
- There was no crime committed according to the statute. There were no victims, nor any fraud. All involved in the transaction testified they in fact made money and were happy with the process
- The Democrat judge, irrespective of no crime being committed, no victims and no fraud, found Trump guilty and levied a historical fine designed to wipe out Trump's wealth completely. He set terms, along with the NY appellate courts, to enforce that fine in an unconstitutional manner, outside any guidelines, case law or previous bond agreements.

This is all for a non crime. That anyone is left in NY is a miracle.

Exactly why we didn’t look at NC on our exit from NYS. NC is beautiful, but we only wanted to endure one out of state move (moving is not fun) and didn’t want to end up a boiled frog.

Posted by: BlackOrchid at March 19, 2024

Which is so funny, because when we had to live in NJ for 2 years (work), every single house we looked at hadn’t been touched in 30 years. It felt like the twilight zone. I even asked our real estate agent (who to this day is a great friend) if they don’t have Home Depot’s or Lowe’s in NJ. Our choices were 1970 time capsule or Liberace Threw Up in Here. I ended up with a house I truly loved. It will be my favorite house forever and if I could pick it up and move it here, I would. We redid the kitchen immediately, though. We sold it for full price, cash, in less than 24 hours when we found out we could go home. It was because of people leaving NY and we lived in a gated community 30 miles outside of Manhattan.

There are people in this country, not yet red pilled, desperate to see the laws applied to any rich, connected person other than Trump or his supporters. Anyone. A glimmer of hope that the law actually means what it fucking says. Even in emergencies.

That's why people care. Harry is pointless. He has no meaning in this country but TPTB will protect him because he's in the club.

I'm staying with pressure treated lumber and power washing it every year. I think even with Trex you have to do that. Maybe every five years re-stain on a pleasant afternoon.

233 The appeals thing is hilarious, frankly. We've been hearing for 10 years almost from Trump fanbois about how strong and tough and deal-savvy he is, all he can do to people to get them to do what he wants is threaten and cajole. If he comes across ANYONE he can't threaten and has nothing to offer to - judge, prosecutor, anyone - he's helpless as a kitten and can do nothing but suck balls. James and Engoron had no reason to do what he wanted. He couldn't threaten them and he had nothing to offer him. Their incentive was to kick his ass, so kick his ass they did.

Posted by: Theo at March 19, 2024 01:58 PM (8GPwC)

234 He wants to post a bond to stay the judgment. Two different things. Anyone think Trump would get that money back if he paid it and later won on appeal?

A bond in this case is like an insurance policy. You pay a premium to have the bond company guaranty payment of a certain amount. Usually you have to sign over certain collateral to cover the remaining amount of the bond (in this case $467 million), but if the bond company doesn't have to pay (i.e., Trump wins on appeal), they can't collect on the collateral and all you lose is the premium you paid for the bond (which is usually 10 or 20 percent of the bond). So trump would have to come up with $46 million or so in cash, plus unencumbered collateral worth the remainder. Trump's businesses are always heavily leveraged, so I doubt he has any serious unencumbered collateral.

You can do that yourself as it is not rocket science. Unfortunately sometimes, stripping off an old deck can indicate other problems that need to be fixed.

Sometimes there is an issue with distance between joists and whether your deck should be solid material or the cheaper, lighter, thinner version. If your joists are too far apart for your cheaper material, you will get bows and dips over time.

We rebuilt our exterior deck over a decade ago and it is still going strong with nary a dip, bend, etc. but I also rebuilt the supports underneath, put a joist protection shield on the top side of the joists to prevent water damage, etc.

271 I could be persuaded to give up the drug war if it was going to reduce spending. But it won't. They just want to shift all those resources to social work, health care, and other devices for enabling drug use. And we'll end up with rampant low-level crime as junkies act like junkies wherever they go, and would do so even if you give them their drugs for "free." I'm already tired of smelling pot everywhere, and I don't even live in a hippy jurisdiction.

Anyone who argues we should spend all that money on "drug treatment programs" is a head in the clouds fantasist. Drug treatment programs have ABYSMAL success rates, even for those who complete the program. They prop up their stats by not counting people who don't complete the program, who are the vast majority of patients.

Something like 96% of people who enter a drug treatment program will either drop out early or fail within months of completion. That's for people who WANT to get clean. It's pretty much guaranteed you'll fail if you are forced into the program.

Trex is heavy. So they sell it in thinner lengths. It's wiggly so 16" centers. It moves a lot with sun heating it. It's a problem too. All decks are problems.
Posted by: torabora

They have two different products--the lighter cheaper truss design and the solid deck material type. Not a fan of Trex brand anyway after seeing my mother's deck done with it but there are others that are nice like Moisture Shield which I have used with the hidden fastening system. Little signs of aging despite being installed over a decade ago. That does have to be scrubbed about once a year and pressure washed.

Posted by: whig at March 19, 2024 02:08 PM (tb8RV)

279
You can do that yourself as it is not rocket science. Unfortunately sometimes, stripping off an old deck can indicate other problems that need to be fixed.

Sometimes there is an issue with distance between joists and whether your deck should be solid material or the cheaper, lighter, thinner version. If your joists are too far apart for your cheaper material, you will get bows and dips over time.

Posted by: whig at March 19, 2024 02:04 PM

Problem with weight issue. If the original supports are done by contractors, they typically skimp on deck support structure to the minimum load that code requires.

Add people aka live load to an already over weight static load via the deck and the whole shebang can go down.

Code varies quite a bit among areas but it is always wise to actually overbuild your decks, etc. as the cost at doing so is minimal at the time compared with fixing it later.

That makes it an official foreign policy matter, even if Barry is only a "former" president.

I distinctly remember reading some hardboiled PI-- maybe Marlowe, maybe Spade, maybe someone else, claim to be "a cop on a private lay," meaning a private detective. "Cop" wasn't necessarily government police back then, I guess.

Though generally private investigators were former policemen of some kind.

409 > Don't preach to me about fiscal responsibility when America has never paid reparations for slavery.

Sure we did. About 618,222 soldiers died fighting over it. Then we spent over $12,000,000,000,000.00 on welfare programs.

Had a good friend and his girl arguing about something stupid in a bar one night... neither would let it go.

So I finally forcefully told them 'OK... it's MY FAULT... hell everything this year is my fault'... which started a now decades old joke amongst my friends... about whose fault it is THIS year.

432 Any time I read something like this I am reminded of a writing assignment I had in third grade: it was supposed to be super neat, writing a letter to the President!!! We were all to write the same message, and it was some anti-war thing. The man in office at the time was Ronald Reagan. Yes I am old, get off my lawn.
Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33

When I was in Third Grade (or was it Second Grade, back when we rode dinosaurs to school) we all wrote sympathy cards to Jackie Kennedy after JFK was assasianted (1964?). I remember we all did get nice "thank you" cards on official stationary. I kept mine for years....don't know what became of it.
