Biden Administration Plots to Save The Iranian Terror-Proxy Hamas By Refusing to Sell Israel Arms and Ammunition

The US is now a sponsor of terror, thanks to Obama/Biden.

President Biden, keeping Prime Minister Netanyahu at arm's length, is reportedly considering leaving Israel short of the armaments it needs to fight Hamas. Such a politically based move risks harming America’s global interests.

By Sunday, Israel must tell America that it is complying with international restrictions on arms supplies, including by facilitating ample humanitarian assistance to Gaza, the national security adviser, Jacob Sullivan, told reporters Monday, adding that it is yet to do so.

Meanwhile, a Jerusalem official noted a recent reduction of American arms supplies to Israel, ABC news reports. The Israel Defense Force is running out of 155 mm artillery shells and 120 mm tank shells, as well as sensitive guidance equipment, the official said.

Last week, seven Democrats, led by Senators Van Hollen, Merkley, and Sanders, alleged that Israel is violating section 620I of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. They urged Mr. Biden to limit offensive arms to the IDF.

In fairness, supplying Israel with arms is *also* a "politically based move."

And this is the only thing that Washington do to try to force the issue. Israel is in a better position than, say, Ukraine to go it alone, but it will also probably be touch-and-go to lose US support. If we do this and Israel wins anyway (likely), it is going to be one hell of a black eye to the US and we will lose a major pipeline of effective military technology development. Israel is one of the few allies from which we actually get something in return, and that will end.

The materiel supply line from the United States - demonstrated or even just assumed - is one of the things that keeps another major war at bay. If that equation is inverted and the assumption is that there will be *no* support, then outfits happily engaged in their own civil wars at the moment (ISIS, Hezbollah, etc.) might decide it's worth it to go ahead and take out the Little Satan first instead of dealing with their own messes first.

Would Israel win anyway? Very possibly, since they do have arms capability on their own. But it would invite additional front to open regardless.

I've been of the position that if the nuclear-capable but not nuclear-armed (publicly, anyway) countries in the Orient didn't immediate start or activate crash weapons programs within a week of the 2020 election, they were fools.

The US is clearly an unstable major power that runs on corruption. The Party that controls everything installed a demented old idiot as a figurehead following an election that was, at best, open to question. It seems to me that the technologically and industrially advanced allies under our "security umbrella" - Korea, Taiwan and Japan - would be insane not to get their own nukes and get them fast. Even if they're tough to deliver, they need to have them if they don't want to fall to the corrupt, increasingly desperate and even more dysfunctional empire to the east.

I'm not expert, not even close. But doesn't Israel have some awesome weapons tech that we benefit from as well? One thing that comes to mind is their active protection system for tanks. They've been using it since 2011 or so. We only started putting APS on our tanks in the last couple of years, and I'm pretty sure we use the Israeli's "Trophy" system.

Jerry Pournelle called the US back in the day as an incompetent empire. And it is for both ideological and monetary reasons. The ideological blinder is because democracies rarely go to war against each other--then we should make every country a democracy by any means possible.

The monetary reason is that professional militaries are expensive and to project power across the globe requires a percentage of GDP that Americans are simply unwilling to spend. Thus, the US has been supplementing its regular defense budget with end run emergency contingency spending on places like Afghanistan, Ukraine, and now Israel. Like 'Covid' off budget contigency funding, this defense spending can be directed more or less how the stakeholders want it to be spent with scant ties to the actual contingency.

Hamas is the legitimately elected government of Gaza. They had an army 30,000 men. Thousands of rockets . They broke the truce, declared war on Israel and murdered 1200 innocent civilians in the most horrific way possible.
They had a "state". This is what they did with that.

Leaving the current population in Gaza will have the same result in a decade or so. They have to be dispersed into Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan so that they are absorbed into a bigger population that can pacify them.

Does anybody in Foggy Bottom realize that cutting off Israel's weapon replacement, they are also letting go of Israel's leash? Bibi and company need to follow orders to a certain degree to keep the materiel flowing. But if we cut off that resupply line, we are granting the Israelis permission to finish the job no matter what.

315 I suspect that Israel has plenty of munitions, but they may have to resort to more "dumb" munitions, so more collateral damage which = more dead Palestinians. Also, the failure to supply more smart munitions will cause two things to happen: (1) it will invite more aggression from Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies, thereby inviting more war; and (2) it will cause Israel to source munitions elsewhere or develop their own and we will lose $ and input on their behavior.
