The segment had some of the usual elements like "not FDA-regulated like a drug" and other such disclaimers, but the real point was buried in the middle of the segment:
Melatonin "does seem to be safe for short term use," Dr. Celine Gounder, CBS News medical contributor and editor-at-large for public health at KFF Health News, said on "CBS Mornings" Friday, But she adds there are a few things to be aware of. First, it's a hormone. "Whenever you're talking about giving kids hormones, you want to be especially careful, especially in kids who are pre-pubescent, so not yet adolescents," Gounder said. She explains there are some indicators that melatonin could trigger an early puberty.
Generally speaking, Gounder advises proceeding with caution when it comes to kids. "I would really be cautious about using it in somebody who has not gone through puberty yet and use it, even in teens, on a very occasional basis," she says.Fascinating, eh? This is CBS News. This is an outfit that is all-in on the tranny craze and runs countless pieces about how inhumane - even abjectly evil - it is that some states block transgender medical interventions for children. Articles like this one from 2023, or this "pride month" article from last year are unabashedly pro-tranny and pro-medical-intervention for kids. The source CBS News quotes - "KFF Health News" - is firmly left-wing and has article after article after article banging the drum to decry restrictions on "gender affirming care" for minors. Celine Gounder, the source for this quote, has made prior appearances on CBS News productions advocating for medical interventions for "transgender youth!" The same organizations that are all-in on the use of powerful transgender medical interventions for minors - including the administration of cross-sex hormones - suddenly have an entirely different position when it comes to a sleep aid. "Melatonin is a hormone, so don't give it to kids" seems reasonable enough, yet the same outfits giving that warning also assert that it's monstrous to restrict cross-sex hormone replacement therapy for kids. It has been obvious for some time that insanity, stupidity, malice and Party loyalty are the prime movers of our propaganda complex, and that Doublethink is everywhere. This particular example of it, however, is a real stand-out.

I had squirrels in PA *eat* the plastic away from the perches of a brand new bird feeder I had put out just the day before. Hated them ever since and call them "Fluffy tailed tree rats".
We didn't have enough money to buy a replacement right away, so I glued the pegs back in, and can't remember what I did to keep the squirrels from repeating the process.

They seem to have even less fear of humans than regular squirrels. I was up on the roofdeck with a girl last summer. A black squirrel found its way up there and just came right up to us. No fear. The girl freaked out like the grim reaper was there for her. She didn't know black squirrels exist. She thought it was some horror-movie mutant.

This neighborhood is newer and we rarely see any even though were very near several green spaces. I did go out back last summer and see one on the fence. I asked it what it thought it was doing there and it scurried away.

We were told it was so kids didn't have to catch the bus for school in the dark - traffic accidents, etc. So we need the extra hour in the AM. Personally this is unscientific/illogical: for those that have problems in the dark, e.g. schools, just start an hour later in the morning.
