Biden Proposes $7.3 TRILLION Budget
But Don't Worry -- He Wants to Raise Taxes by $5.5 TRILLION, Too

This is the best version of Biden.

NeverTrumpers must be so proud to support this fiercely principled economic conservative.

President Biden's proposed increase in the corporate tax rate to 28% is projected to result in significant job losses, starkly contrasting with the job growth seen under President Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Key Details:

The proposed hike to a 28% corporate tax rate could lead to an immediate loss of about 1 million American jobs in the first two years, with ongoing losses of 600,000 jobs annually over the next decade.

Under President Trump, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 reduced the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, aligning the U.S. more closely with other OECD countries and boosting competitiveness.

The planned increase to 28% would elevate the U.S. combined state and federal corporate tax rate to 32.8%, one of the highest globally and triple that of China.

Diving Deeper:

The Biden administration's proposal to increase the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28% marks a sharp departure from the pro-growth policies of the Trump era, which prioritized job creation and economic expansion. This shift not only threatens to reverse the gains made but also positions the United States unfavorably in the global economic arena.

...

In stark contrast, Biden's proposed tax hike, by elevating the corporate tax rate to 28%, threatens to impede economic progress. Analysis suggests that such an increase would result in a loss of approximately 1 million jobs in the first two years, with a continual decline of 600,000 jobs each year over the subsequent decade.

That’s how it works. Hospitals send an outrageous amount to insurance companies.
Insurance companies say fuck that we’ll pay 1/3 of that. Hospitals say OK deal. And then the patient pays a couple of thousand depending on their deductible.

Nobody ever pays $89k. Even without insurance the bill is $35k, which is why the actual cost is and what insurance actually pays.

191 re #161. On Trump's Greenland play.

I think his plan was to sell the debt to Denmark. It's the "greater fool" theory common in real estate where the plan is to overpay and find a greater fool.

Trump seems to have done this kind of thing a lot in business where he over leverages and disavows the debt. The fact that he was willing to exchange massive US debt for Greenland made me think he knew that the debt was now worthless. Find a greater fool to take it in exchange for a hard asset while we still can.

If he knew, it meant all world leaders and central bankers knew and they are just playing along for now to give themselves time to get hard assets and delay the upcoming global economic crash. A crash like we have never seen before.

Consider what September and October looks like, as Trump runs an ad called "Where's Joe?" just of clips from Trump rallies, listing that city and state, with a counter on the right side spinning like a taxi meter.

While on the left, a counter of Biden rallies ticking slow like months on a calendar.

I was wrong, you were reading Krugman. You are referring to a period when there were 24 different tax brackets and even then the Treasury was still only taking below 20% of the GDP!!
But we have 4 brackets now, I think, and fewer loopholes, and the proposed budget is 30-40% of the economy, in a recession.

I mean, aside from the legalized theft, and open plunder that people should complain about, there is the problem of taxing consumers out of the market and taxing business out of production. No gains, no earning our way out of this, just drudgery like Germany, France and the UK have been staggering under for 40 years.

The purpose of this is not as dumb as it appears.

The really big corporatist oligarchs will likely pay no more, while the small-fry competition will be crushed with higher taxes.
And really, this big tax increase will end up not increasing revenues at all, and it will be used to justify his even bigger budget, a bigger deficit, and a highway to Hell.
Nice going, and it's the cadre of shitheads that surround Biden and tell him what to do.

Based on the size of these “rainy-day funds” alone, the two universities, with a combined student body of 37,000, have enough wealth to rival Ghana, with a population of 35 million.

The kicker? These private universities are educational institutions, meaning that for most of their history, they have been exempt from federal and state income taxes."
