The Goal Is Confiscation And A Radical Change In America...And They Will Settle For Nothing Less!

I saw this at a local mall last week. New Jersey is new to the revolutionary idea of law-abiding citizens being responsible for their own protection, so legal firearms are an unknown quantity for retailers. But this sign is new! Apparently there were no guns (illegal or not) being carried into this mall between the time it opened on March 14, 1974, and NYSRPA v. Bruen, the Supreme Court case that eviscerated the anti-2nd Amendment laws of several blue states, including New Jersey. That was in June 2022. Or maybe New Jersey has suddenly become a dangerous place, and as we all know, gun-free zones are the safest places to be in the event of a shooting.

Or the owners of this mall don't give a rat's ass about safety and just want to virtue signal their commitment to an anti-freedom, anti-2nd Amendment, leftist mindset. Because the number of crimes committed by people who are legally carrying weapons is minuscule. Multiple studies have indicated that concealed carry permit holders are more law-abiding than the general population, which makes sense because they go through background checks before the license is granted. And extrapolating that to all legal owners of weapons will undoubtedly find the same thing.

But that doesn't matter, because the leftist-dominated media have conspired to demonize guns, the people who buy them, and most of all the people who carry them for protection or, like me, to exercise my rights as a free man in a free society. The media are careful to minimize the the differences between legal weapons and illegal weapons, and will gloss over the disgusting reality that most criminals who commit crimes with guns have those charges dropped or reduced, because the goal of gun laws has never been to reduce violent crime...it has been to destroy our God-given natural rights to our own defense and the defense of our freedoms.

Does this sound like a broken record? Because it is. The authoritarian left is fanatical in its desire to eliminate guns from the American Experience, because the gun is perhaps the most powerful symbol of freedom, individualism, self-reliance, and distrust of government. They will never stop, and we must always fight.

If the area is likely to need such measures I don't want to be there regardless of their approach to trying to keep thugs with guns out. So, Congress passed the CHIPS Act, with $39 billion in subsidies to build chip plans ("fabs") in the United States. Intel was already building a fab in Ohio, and the Taiwanese TESC was already building a fab in Arizona.

Construction of both fabs is now on hold, along with a fab in Texas that Samsung was planning. Why?

The CHIPS Act is so larded up with DEI requirements that it is basically impossible to access the money.

The law contains 19 sections aimed at helping minority groups, including one creating a Chief Diversity Officer at the National Science Foundation, and several prioritizing scientific cooperation with what it calls “minority-serving institutions.” A section called “Opportunity and Inclusion” instructs the Department of Commerce to work with minority-owned businesses and make sure chipmakers “increase the participation of economically disadvantaged individuals in the semiconductor workforce.”

A substantial part of the construction force has to be women as well.

Curious as to what NJ's laws are regarding the enforceability of signs such as these.

In NH - signs have to be certain size and posted a certain way. Even then, it is more of a "suggestion". Yes - private property and all that. Should someone carry into a mall with posted signs and be discovered - they'll be asked to leave. No harm, no foul. Refuse to leave then a person can be "trespassed". Make your own decision, but I prefer to be responsible for my own safety IYKWIMAITYD

This raises a question I was pondering, because I'm...ponderous. If you walk into the mall, does that mean you are surrendering your right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure? For example, if you cleaned a gun at home, then went to the mall smelling of Hoppe's #9 and the dog hits on you, are they entitled to search you?

If it is a trespass only if one refuses to leave, then that is fine. But if the law allows a trespass charge without the request, then I will need to be very careful.

The problem with that is that in NY and NJ, if SHTF and you have to act, the criminal's gun charges will more than likely be dropped and you, the otherwise law abiding citizen will be in the dock for 25 years.

74 In reaction to the NY Gun Club decision, CA stopped requiring applicants to establish good cause for "needing" to carry a concealed weapon.

Next, it immediately passed a law (happily signed by Newsom) that designated essentially every public place a weapons-prohibited zone. HA HA, said the Ruling Elite.

A local federal judge didn't think it was so funny and issued a preliminary injunction on enforcing the ban. The ruling is now set to be reviewed in the 9th Circuit in April.

If the injunction is vacated, your hard-won concealed weapons permit will be rendered useless.

The wild card is the gun owners. Do they comply like sheep, or say "nah, bruh," and press the "ignore" button? If it happened today, I'd guess they would mostly comply. Every day that passes, though, I think that gets less likely. People seem to finally be considering the possibility that we're lorded over by psychopaths.

It's all about the timing. I think they need to move sooner than later. Fortunately, our ruling class is frequently as stupid as it is evil, and also frequently confused and slow to act.

This has been a constant gripe of mine since last summer - there was NO counteroffensive! The entire thing was a fake media operation; the MSM would write up big reports about how great it was going to be, and then I'd look at milbloggers from both Russian and Ukraine, and they agreed that there was no actual troop build up, no big battles, not much of anything other than the now normal "one side moves 400 yards up, next day the other said takes 400 yards back."

My best guess is that it was a media attempt to try to justify sending all the money there, but that Ukraine never had any actual intention of launching any offensive.

Well, Customs dogs would be trained to hit on different things than "firearms" dogs. If you are actually using the dogs as a screening device, then it is in your own best interest to have them trained to ignore smells not related to their task.

The cheese should have been fine. I've brought solid cheeses back all the time. Liquid-ey cheeses are iffy. Last time at the baggage carousel a beagle busted a Somalian with some kind of herb/root in a gallon-sized ziploc. I don't recall what it was, but when the handler opened the bag you could instantly smell it from 20 feet away.

There is something to that and I have been thinking that this is a damn good idea. I don't mind not carrying at, say a courthouse because if there aren't armed cops and bailiffs there securing the place, the cops and judges are several levels of stunningly incompetent.

If you are a law-abiding citizen who carries, you are more or less providing free security even if you don't think you are. And the more armed citizens we have out and about, IMHO, you can have fewer, and far more professional-behaving, cops.

Lot to agree with - however the kill ratio has been 4:1 in favor of Ukraine. Russia has lost far more troops. As they always do. But they have more troops to lose. As long as Ukraine could not get to the logistics hubs inside Russia this was always going to evolve in to a stalemate unless we abandoned supporting Ukraine.

Then Russia would roll Ukraine and Poland would start developing nukes and it would get real interesting.
