Heh - the only entrance into our neighborhood of about 20 homes is down a very steep 500 yard long lane, cross a single lane bridge over a creek, and then back up another steep lane. At the top of the hill, on both sides of the road are natural yuge stone ramparts. On our side of the creek the homes are surrounded by a monster State wildlife management area. No, the way the system (I forget what it was called) worked is that each press of the same digit got you the next letter of that group. So "a" is 2, "b" is 22, etc.

Have a backpack with a weeks worth of food and do what every wanted desperado and others who needed to hide did all through the 19th century - walk out into the Big Thicket in East Texas, off the roads. Barsky successfully applied for his first ever Soc Sec card as an adult-- said he'd been working as a farm laborer in Canada and had never needed a Soc Sec card up there. You couldn't do that today, btw. As recently as the '70s, you could.

short story - years ago I had a job where I drove long distances late, and one night I was driving back through Shelby County, in the national forest there. It was 2 in the morning and I could not keep my eyes open, so I found a little side road, pulled a dozen yards or so off the main road and tried to sleep in the back seat. It was late spring, not cold, so that wasn't a problem. But damn - I thought it would be nice and quiet, but you can't imagine how noisy those woods can be at night until you sit there quiet; it was very disconcerting. (cont'd)

I missed that you only need to hide for a week.

I could do that standing on my head, but I'd need more than 24 hours to plan my getaway & concealment.

I have a couple of friends who could put me up for a week & wouldn't rat me out, but... maybe that solution is outside the parameters of the problem.

Hiding in a friuens's basement for a week? Too easy.

210 So I'm trying to sleep in the middle of the woods in the wee hours of the morning because I'm not fit to drive anymore, and there is a constant racket coming from those "quiet" woods. So I can identify some, okay that digging is probably an armadillo, probably a raccoon rattling around up in that tree, and then there's just constant shuffling going on in the dark around me. I almost get to sleep...

and then I hear, about 20 or 30 feet from me, a loud and clear "pop". The kind of "pop" made when a stick with about a 2" cross section breaks in two because something real heavy just stepped on it. And even worse - after that *everything* got real quiet, like "oops I didn't mean to make that much noise." I jumped up, looked around, of course nothing, but hell I got out of there as fast as I could. Made it to Nacogdoches and found a nice old Church parking lot next to a cemetary to sleep in. Now THAT was finally nice and quiet, and I slept til dawn there.

243 Buggin' out on foot, into the wilderness, isn't the idea it used to be.

Not only the food and water thing, but the airborne, thermal surveillance is no longer rare, but plentiful. And they can instantly tell the difference between animal and human. If they get close enough to you, it's damn near as good as your Yearbook Photo, to I.D. you.

What might work, is a truly massive junkyard of used cars n' trucks. Crushed, or not, and abandoned would be the best. Nest up in some "cave" in the middle of a pile. Bring a gallon of water for every day you plan to be there. Food, too, and toilet paper.

Poop n' paper goes into 1 gal. plastic bags. Piss, into emptied water bottles. And those get moved to nearby, adjacent piles of cars, when it's as safe as possible to do so.

Otherwise, you hole-up, read a book or five, and do NOT wander about.

Most people can't DO that. They can't still themselves, much less their minds, to grind out the hours of a full week, doing as close to "nothing" as humanly possible.

A pile of cars, might even block the electronic heartbeat detectors. One can hope!

But a scumbag who would DO that just to spite someone in their life? Said scumbag has just categorized themseleves as Less Than Human, and doth need purged from Society, as a whole.

Is that only for owners of corporate jets, or does that include people who own shares in leased planes? This could apply to any Republican candidate running for the presidency. Every candidate uses private aircraft to fly around the country; the prez gets to jet around in AF1, giving the incumbent an edge. While on the surface this may look like it's only going after Trump, it's more than that. The Dems do not want to give up any power and will do any desperate thing to keep it. If a candidate for president can't fly around this country easily and quickly to make multi-campaign stops in a day, oh well.

It'll be interesting 2 c if SOTU moves the polls needle any.

There weren't any new ones today, post-SOTU.

LOL@ Women's month...

Days of the women's month, oh hahaha.

Used to work with a young man, who thought ALL wimmen had their . at the same time.

"Oh, dear-- it is the 14th?" He would ask.

We wondered what he meant, until finding out... ROFL!

In proper corporatist socialism the landlords would be subsidized to make up for the inadequate payment and also be beneficiary of the grift.

358 On hiding for a week--

You can't take your phone, or your car, or use cards for any purchases. Hell, probably can't get past your front door without Big Brother 'seeing' you via facial recognition (if you live anywhere near street lights).

[If the DMV clerk told you to remove your glasses while they took your drivers' license picture, your face is *definitely* "in the system"]

Would be a tough challenge in this day of high-tech guv surveillance.

Social media has some of the most savage comments about that guy.

Guy: let us introduce you to Jesus
Tribe: let US introduce YOU to Jesus.

"Hey guys we have a visitor"
"Does he have a coconut with him?"
"No"
"Attack."

-------

Imagine not knowing the existence of the Kardashians

------------

Imagine the natives sitting with tiktok in their huts and then just fooling us all by playing natives on the beach when they have visitors.

He wanted to introduce sentinelese to Jesus, but unfortunately they had the same idea
